Departing from the Refuge du Maupuy, you'll skirt around the Carrière de la Baleine on narrow paths before descending along the Carrière de la Vergnolle, from which the finest granite was extracted. Then wide rolling trails lead off, before branching off to the right along the old waggon wall, once used to transport shaped cobblestones to the station below. The end of the trail climbs slightly, alternating between wide tracks and narrow paths.

A few kilometers after the start of Saint-Sulpice, a difficult climb takes us to Sous-Faye. The rest of the circuit is easier to reach Guéret and the Courtille leisure centre. We continue then by a regular ascent along the Maupuy river before going back to the north in the direction of the Chardet wood to finally come back to Saint-Sulpice-le-Guérétois by the same way as before.

This loop takes you around the town of Guéret, starting from the Courtille leisure center. Only small roads are used. These allow you to discover the Creuse valley before returning via Sainte-Feyre between the Chabrières massif and the Puy de Gaudy. The tour ends on a freewheel, with a magnificent view of Courtille.

A 2-day hike south of Guéret, through the Maupuy and Chabrières forests. stage 1: Guéret ? La Chapelle-Taillefert - Distance: 20 km On this undulating stage, after the Courtille leisure center, you'll discover the Maupuy massif and its Pierres Civières, the Monts de Guéret arboretum and the Mons de Guéret Giant Labyrinth, the Puy de Chiroux and the Gartempe valley. 2nd stage: La Chapelle-Taillefert ? Guéret - Distance: 28 km This second stage takes you through the Chabrières forest and its Pierres et Légendes. You'll pass the animal park "Les Loups de Chabrières", then the summit of Puy de Gaudy, before descending to downtown Guéret

A 3-day hike north of Guéret, taking in the Puy des Trois Cornes, the Creuse valley and the Glénic and Saint-Fiel viaducts. stage 1: Guéret-Saint-Vaury - Distance: 23 km This first stage takes you through the Maupuy massif and its Pierres Civières to Saint-Vaury. stage 2: Saint-Vaury-Anzême - Distance: 25 km The second stage climbs to Puy des Trois Cornes and the Roches viewpoint. It then descends to Bussière-Dunoise and its pond, before continuing on to Anzême and the Creuse valley. 3rd stage: Anzême-Guéret - Distance: 25Km This final stage takes you to the Anzême leisure center, then the Glénic and Saint-Fiel viaducts, before returning to Guéret town center.

This short, easy loop from Saint-Victor-en-Marche takes you through the Gartempe valley, passing near the Rebeyrolle waterfalls and La Chapelle-Taillefert.

In the heart of the Creuse countryside, let yourself be seduced by "Le gîte au chez", a 2* listed property, charmingly renovated with exposed stonework in a peaceful setting. The village of St-Vaury is 1 km away, and the prefecture of Guéret and all its amenities 10 km.

An old masonry construction set against a low retaining wall stands next to a recent concrete fountain, built in 1937, whose water comes from the overflow of the water tower. The old fountain has a wrought-iron gate, probably from a cemetery.

This enclosed masonry construction houses a concrete washhouse dating from the interwar period. Despite the warning written by users of the washhouse: 'That's enough. You are in a public place, legal action will be taken for stone-throwing, broken windows, slate-throwing or other damage', the glass roofs were so damaged that the municipality had to have them removed. It stands alongside an older, more modest washhouse built along the Coches stream, of which a few flat stones remain. This may have been used in summer.

Pascal Lhospitalier is a saffron producer. He designs products on his organic property, including jams, syrups, marmalades, chutneys and mustards.

Didier and Nicolas welcome you to their educational farm. They offer a fun, active way to discover farm animals in the calm, green setting of the Creuse countryside.

This 686M granite peak is an elevated block between faults, with a steep slope overlooking Guéret. Le Maupuy was the preferred site for stone quarrying in Central France. In the 1930s, its granite was exported throughout the country and even abroad.

Val Maubrune is situated 8 km west of Guéret on the local road D914. The garden (2.1ha) has been created in a large valley, under the trees where light and shade play. The plants have been chosen to harmonise with each other in a gentle climate and a partially preserved wilderness. Numerous benches line the walk; inviting places to rest. The whole thing has been designed to create surprises and engender emotions.

The Pierres Civières Rocks are named with thus for their shape. This enormous jumble of round rocks was left intact by stonecutters and is now listed. The story is that the stones served as a refuge for the locals who wanted to escape Napoleon's Russian campaign. Fantastic panorama from the orientation table.

The village of Le Chiroux boasts a number of heritage features on the 'couderc' (community space - symbolic center of the village): the fountain, the washhouse, the cross and now a work or 'tramail', an object used to hold cattle while the farrier shod them. The small central square has been surrounded by a low dry-stone wall and covered with tuff to hide the asphalt. Le Chiroux is a popular stopping-off point for walkers.

This former horse stall has now been converted to accommodate up to 8 people. Our house is located in the countryside very close to Guéret (4 km). Close to the 2 x2 lane (1km)- Exit 49. We offer 2 bedrooms: one on the 2nd floor with a 140 cm bed, a bedside table, a chest of drawers and a small sofa. The other on the 1st floor has a 160 cm bed, bedside table, wardrobe, armchair and desk. The bathroom, shared by both bedrooms, is on the 1st floor, with bath, washbasin and toilet. Breakfast includes bread, rusks, jam, butter, coffee, tea, fruit juice, seasonal fruit and/or dried fruit. In summer, breakfast is served on the covered terrace in front of the pool, and in winter in the family kitchen with its open fire. The swimming pool is available in summer, and we discuss reasonable use with you, as it is shared with the owner.
