Nice walk leading to a charming shed. The Pré Clos offers a very nice view. Be sure to stay on the main track as you are in a richbut fragile area. Nature deserves to be protected Take La Mure direction. At Lavaldens village entrance, take the small road on your left to Le Pay, and park at the 4th switchback. Take the trail starting from the hairpin for 200 meters and cross the torrent. Keep on straight, the steep trail climbs in undergrowth with several switchbacks and reach Maison Poncet on a clear area. Continue along the flat path that starts after houses. After 500m, find a large rock and take the path that goes above and go on until the Pré Clos shed. Return by the same route. This itinerary will make you discover the farm Poncet, which is a remain of isolated mountain habitat. Beautiful architecture, dentil gable, discharging arch on door and window, outskirts paved. The balcony trail above the valley offers very beautiful views on Lavaldens village and surrounding peaks. The Pré Clos shed has been recently rearranged for a shepherd and its herd.

A challenging and fairly demanding hike that will take you from the Roizonne Valley up to the high-altitude lake of Rif Bruyant. Along the way, you’ll pass through the hamlet and the Rif Bruyant refuge, following the course of this mountain stream. A challenging hike through stunning landscapes, from the Roizonne Valley to the high-altitude lake of Rif Bruyant Accompanied by the stream all along the way, you’ll cross a surprisingly diverse range of landscapes as you ascend: The hamlet of Rif Bruyant, with architecture typical of the valley and meadows bordered by “clapiers” (stone piles from field clearing), Then the cirque where the lake lies nestled, And finally, breathtaking views on the way back. Route: Start from the Mollard parking area. Follow the small road to the heart of the hamlet, then continue on the path toward the Rif Bruyant valley. Ignore the path on your right heading to La Rochette and continue straight until you reach the Rif Bruyant farms. Walk through them; the path narrows into a trail between two dry-stone walls. Continue uphill through the woods and into the cirque, just after crossing a dry streambed—take care not to lose the trail here. Cross the meadows (abundant orange lilies and martagon lilies), then rejoin the path that winds through the forest in several switchbacks. Cross the stream once more and enter the woods where you'll find a charming forest cabin. At the signpost indicating the lake, take the left-hand trail, which follows a forest balcony path leading up to the lake's outlet. As you climb among the rocks, don’t miss the bridal veil waterfall on your right. Return: You can return via the same route or continue up to the col (mountain pass) by following the trail on the right. The descent is via long switchbacks. Important! Very nice hike to the abandoned farms of Rif Bruyant. Discover this small charming hamlet. Sleeping and eating available in The Rif Bruyant Refuge. START at "Le Mollard" or "Le Fontagneu" Connected to the Roizonne valley by an old "calade" path (a rough cobbled trail made of embedded stones), the little-known Rif Bruyant valley is full of hidden treasures. Discover the stone houses of the old hamlet, with their slate roofs and stepped gable ends. As you stroll through the beautiful hay meadows bordered by low stone walls, you may come across the natural icehouses, once used to age the valley’s cheeses. Parking from Alpe du Grand Serre: Take the D114 towards La Mure. After passing the hamlet of Fontagneu, you’ll find a parking area on your left, near the hamlet of Le Mollard. From La Mure: Take the D114 towards Alpe du Grand Serre. After the village of La Valette, the parking area and the hamlet of Le Mollard are on your right. If the parking is full, you can turn back to the hamlet of Fontagneu, which also offers parking. The additional few hundred meters are signposted and follow the river below. Trail Directions: Take the path toward Le Mollard. Once in the hamlet, turn right to reach the Rif Bruyant stream. Continue through the wooded area until you reach a stone-arched bridge. Do not cross this bridge — instead, follow the stream uphill. At the second bridge, cross over the Rif Bruyant and take the narrower trail to the left, which leads into the forest and up to the old hamlet. Important: You are in a protected natural area. Please stay on marked trails, keep your dog on a leash, do not light fires, and carry out all your trash or dispose of it in the nearest bins. Respecting and preserving this special place is essential!

Very easy trail in the valley. Two hours return-way and 120m difference in height. Be sure to stay on the main track, as you enter a rich but fragile area. Nature deserves to be protected! Now closed to traffic, it offers a peaceful, stroller-friendly walk, far from the noise, with a few mountain streams along the way.

Very beautiful trail starting from the Vaunoire's valley, between Taillefer and Armet ranges. Plan Col is a high mountain pasture perched on a pass which allows to join Ornon's village and the Malsanne's valley. The summer a shepherd leads its herd there, pay attention on his dog Patou Plan Col is a mountain pasture located at the top of the pass, connecting Moulin Vieux (Roizonne valley) and Ornon (Malsanne valley). During this hike, follow the Vaunoire stream and observe how the flora adapts to changes in altitude: starting in the forest, you’ll gradually leave the woods behind for alpine pastures at nearly 1900 meters. Drive up to the parking area at the end of the road that leads into the Vaunoire valley from Moulin Vieux. From there, follow the wide and gently sloping path that continues toward the end of the valley. Keep going on this trail, cross the stream coming from the Taillefer, and begin climbing through the beech forest via well-marked switchbacks. After an initial steep section, reach a small flat area, often still covered in snow late into the season. After crossing the stream again (via a bridge), a short series of switchbacks leads you into a broad basin. Past a small rise, the valley opens up slightly; continue on the trail and ford the stream. Climb diagonally up the slope of Plan Col, which you’ll reach after a final switchback. Use the same route for the descent. Caution! You are in a protected natural area. Starting Point: Cascade de l'Alpe du Grand Serre Itinerary: Head to the Cascade de l'Alpe du Grand Serre. From there, take the wide path on the right that climbs into the forest. After two switchbacks, you’ll reach an area known as les Plateaux (1470 m). Continue for a few hundred meters until you arrive at la Combe de la Blache at 1500 m (Danger sign). Continue straight, ignoring the path on the right. The ascent becomes steeper, and the trail makes several switchbacks as it crosses an open basin (keep your eyes open — chamois and roe deer are often spotted here). The path then makes more switchbacks and enters the forest again. You're almost there, watch for the fork on the right leading to the Cabane du Périmètre. You’ll arrive from above, and what a view! The entire Roizonne valley lies at your feet, with the Armet mountain range, the distant Obiou, the Tabor, and the ski area from an unusual angle. Descent: You can return via the same path or continue for several hundred meters. Around le Périmètre (1600 m), take the trail that descends to the left. It will bring you back to le Clos des Jensannes, then to la Croix de la Blache, at the southern entrance of the resort near the war memorial. Please Note! You are in a protected natural area. The Mountain Animals Trail offers a fun and interactive way to discover the rich wildlife of our mountains. The trail is accessible on foot in summer and with snowshoes in winter. A leaflet about the walk is available at the Tourist Office. Along this little tour you'll discover our mountains fauna diversity. You will meet a mouflon, an eagle, a wild boar, and other animals. This easy trail is accessible to all young and old who want to know the alpine fauna during about one hour. You will find the free topo-guide at the Tourist Office. Itinerary: Start from the Les Mélèzes building. Take the path straight ahead towards the waterfall. At the junction, turn right towards the "Mountain Animals Trail". Follow the pink or yellow R1 waymarks. After passing the hare sculpture, take the dike on your right. Continue along the marked path, which will take you through a small wooded area. Stay on the trail and meet the different animals along the way. The path then descends in small switchbacks, leading you back to the resort.

At the end of the 19th century, industry began to overtake village windmills, which then disappeared one after the other. Paul Freynet, who lived in Lavaldens, decided to optimise his windmill by using hydraulic force in all its forms. The penstock drives several millstones, as well as a bolter and a sorter, and a saw for cutting wood lengthways, plus a circular saw for short logs. A major development was the introduction of a generator to produce electricity. Paul Freynet provided power to all the village long before the electricity network arrived in the valley, on the eve of the Great War.

It´s a typical shepherd hut, still used nowadays. You may overlook the Roizonne in all majesty. Pres Clos´s hut is very beautiful. The hut can´t be used, because it´s being used by shepherds, pastoralism is still a summer activity. In addition, you should be careful to not cross the herds, you could upset the dog guardian. For the same reason you shouldn´t bring your dog in this place.

This magnificent plant has flowers that are often tilted at the side, which helps it stand out from its horticultural cousins. Its pointed petals are a fine gold colour. The leaves are very light green, straight and long. The species is protected throughout France, and cannot be found at the florist’s, but only in or around fields. The bulbs have suffered from the increasing use of tractors and the deeper ploughing that results. The flower has greatly fallen in numbers and only grows in land where farming practices are still gentle, without pesticides or deep ploughing.

Lovely shepherd's hut which is still used by shepherds. The Rocher Roux´s hut is closed to the public. The hut offers beautiful views of the landscape, it´s a small expression of the pastoralism in high alpine valleys. A very nice place that is worth seing.

Roizonne is a special river made from one Vaunoire torrent that disappears underground and is renamed as Roizonne when it gets out. The Vaunoire torrent springs in Grand Armet Glacier, 2200m high, and collects small meltwater or regular streams running down from Taillefer, Armet and Tabor ranges. When it is a little bit dried up, the river disappears into the ground and gets out a little further under Roizonne name. This resurgence is a little before Lavaldens village, after the "rocky rock" as it is called.

A small village with lot of charm. Testimonies of a past life, in an out-of-time place, Rif Bruyant farms contain much mystery, like its old cheese cellars. This village is a must to see for any hiker who starts from the valley of Roizonne to Roizonne or to Coiro. It can also be worth seing for itself : heritage, traditionnal food and beautiful beech forest. Rif Bruyant farm is composed of 3 building from seventeenth century. A few years ago these buildings were restored by the only inhabitant of the village. He opened a shelter with accommodation in shared rooms, yurt or tree house. On the outskirts of the village you could see old cheese cellars, recently renovated. In the old days the "Le Bleu de Lavaldens" cheese was well known in the area, lucky to be able to use the less-than-6 °C caves near than the farms.

The “Children's Republic” was an important experiment in education. It was part of the movement in citizenship education occurring in different parts of the world and advocating the respect for children. It began in 1946 with the arrival of children from the south of France or young Spanish refugees, most of whom were orphans. Here homes were gradually built, community centres and holiday camps. This explains this large building at Moulin Vieux, which is called the Colonie (camp) or the Republic, and which today welcomes travellers and holidaymakers.

Comboursière´s shed is located in a nice place with a great view, vestige of local pastoralism. A small stone cottage, the Comboursiere`s hut in Vaunoire is very basic and offers the same comfort as usual in mountain huts, surrounded by a beautiful setting. On the ground floor there is a fireplace and a table with 2 benches. On the first floor there is a sleeping place for a small group. You will find water near the cottage only in the torrent if the water flows, you will find wood nearby on your way to the hut. It's a nice place to go. We recommend up to bring matches and small candles to light your evening. Be sure to take back all your trash with you, there is no toilets and you are in a protected natural area, please keep this in mind.

Beautiful forest, dangerous in winter, ideal for a walk in summer. Torrent, hiking paths and waterfall on the South-facing hillside . Forest nice and cozy in summer, which extends on north side of the range of Armet. In the thalweg, at the end of the valley, the forest reaches the Roizonne river supplied by many streams that do not flow anymore after thaw. This forest is freshness haven where it´s good to walk all year round, except in winter, as many avalanches make it dangerous. The elders would tell many stories about "Carcaris", naughty little people who colonized this site. It´s also a passway to reach the magnificent alpine meadow of "Col Plan" or cottage "Comboursiere", at Armet's feet.

Rif Bruyant has two great mountain lakes in the middle of an amazing cirque. Located in the mountains of Armet, at the bottom of Coiro, lakes Rif Bruyant are ideal for a hike. A small shed is a few minutes walk. A hiking loop leads you over the lakes and offers a stunning viewpoint over the whole gorge. Please keep walking on trails and don't walk to much on the fragile lake banks. You are in a very rich but fragile area.

Take away beers and drinks. The tasting and the sale are done on the spot as well as the consumption on the terrace: homemade beers, homemade aperitif drinks, homemade lemonade, homemade syrups, wines. In summer, you can enhance your appetisers with local products or artisanal icecreams. You can also homemade dishes.

The snack of the camping offers varied menu, shady terrace. Theme evenings organised every Saturday from the end of June to the begining of September. The accommodation includes a new fully equipped kitchenette, a microwave oven, and a TV with DVD player. The balcony, with garden furniture, offers panoramic views of the Matheysine plateau, its lakes, and the Vercors mountain range. This is an ideal setting for mountain biking, winter sledding, skiing, and snowshoeing. The studio is located at the start of several marked hiking trails (hiking guides available on site). The accommodation has no stairs. Open all year round.

Bivouac and caravan area open all year round. Tent camping is possible on the grassland. Located in the center of the site, next to the playground, you will find an electrical hookup and sanitary facilities. The parking is located in the village centre, next to Town Hall, nordic area playgrounds and two minutes from the road to the waterfall, the via ferrata. The caravan area has power and drinking water supply and toilet and drain area. We accept caravan all year round. No RV dump station (you can drain in the toilets). From the 15th of june 2025, you will find a new sanitary block, with a surface of 18m2, which contain : - 2 individual shower rooms, each equipped with a washbasin and mirror - 2 toilet cubicles (1 male, 1 female) with hand-washing sinks - 1 separate dishwashing area with 2 sinks, worktops, and 4 mixer taps Cassette toilet filling and emptying is possible in the sanitary block toilets. Payment is to be made on site in cash or by cheque (plus tourist tax), or directly at the town hall. In winter, snow removal is provided and a free shuttle service takes you to the ski slopes during school holidays and weekends.

Between lakes and mountains in Matheysine, very close to the National Park of the Ecrins. In an old stable in stones restored with charm : 4 bedrooms for welcoming until 13 guests. Common particular bathroom. Kitchen and dining room to deposit. We live in the same house but the part which is reserved to you is independant. Howeverthe house isn't great for party holidays. We will have the pleasure to inform you about our region.

This campsite is a peaceful and relaxing place surrounded by nature. Located at the starting point of many hiking trails, it is just 100 meters from the beach and features a children's playground as well as a designated beach area for dogs. On a fully enclosed site that was completely renovated in 2016. It is equipped with a waste disposal area for camper vans and offers picnic tables and barbecues. You also have the option to organize your own barbecue on the beach, where fixed barbecues are available.
