From the forests of Correze to the viewpoint over the volcanoes and passing through the valley of the Dognon, this route takes you to explore some of the typical and remarkable landscapes of the region.Take the path that goes down behind the church. After crossing pasture land, the trail meanders through woodland undergrowth. Continue to the river and walk alongside it for 200 m. Turn right onto a sloping path, leaving the bridge on your left.At the junction, follow the left-hand path (the right-hand path leads back to the starting point), leading you to the road you will take on the left. 50 m further on, take the track on the right, which leads to a village.When you arrive in front of the first house, take the road to the right. After 700 m, cross the road and continue straight ahead. At the intersection, turn right. Follow this long track until you reach the road, which you will follow on the left. At the first crossroads, fork right towards La Bardière, then immediately left towards the cemetery. At this point, turn left. You will reach the road that you will take on the right towards the church square.

This journey into the past will begin at the foot of the church of Thalamy. In the Middle Ages, this historical building was under the protection of the Order of Malta. Follow in the footsteps of these warrior monks along the picturesque paths that border the turbulent waters of the Dognon, in the heart of a protected natural area.

Go through the village of Pradinas. Turn right towards La Fage. Leave "Chez le Vacher" on your right and go to La Fage.In the village, continue straight on; at the Les Fabres bread oven, leave the road and take the track on the right. Turn left at the next fork to join a road.Follow it to the left. In the bend, continue on the road towards Les Chabannes. 100 m after the Les Chabannes, leave the road and turn right onto the track. Stay on the main track to reach the road.Follow it to the right for 100 metres and, at the sign for La Plate, take the track to the right. Continue straight ahead; cross a meadow and, after the meadow, the path turns right. Keep straight ahead as far as the road.Follow it straight ahead to find point 3. Continue, always keeping straight ahead; go through Bonneval and on to La Fage. Turn left to get back to the starting point, following the road taken on the way out.

Go straight on, leaving a path on the left (the "De Villages en Barrages" - from Villages to Dams route). The latter leads to the road.Descend to the left for 30 m, then turn right at the La Jugie cross. This uphill trail leads to the road.At the intersection, turn left and go back 600 m to discover the panorama at the La Vie site. Retrace your steps and continue straight along the road. Turn right, then left at the next crossroads, to reach the starting point again.

History turned upside down by a dam...Park in the village near the church. Go towards the town hall and then follow the D 159 towards Singles.As you leave the village, turn right towards Confolent below for 50 m, then the forest track on the left. At the bend in the road, turn left down the trail. Cross the road and continue on the trail. Go right at the next two crossroads; the trail overlooks the Chavanon gorge.Off the route: a 200 m return trip to the Arpiat bridge. Go up the road to the right for 600 m, and at the hairpin bend, take the forest track to the left. Follow it for 1.5 km.Be careful: the path is not very visible: leave the track for a small trail on the right that winds upwards. It joins a path that you take on the left. Follow it for some time and join the road. Turn left onto it. At the crossroads with the path that leads to the church of St-Martin, go back as far as the Chapelle de la Manants: go down; at the barricade, turn left onto a trail that leads down to the chapel. Push on to the reservoir. Go up the road (on the left, you can make a round trip to the remains of the tower and the fountain).Take the trail on the left that leads up to the church of St Martin. Continue past the church; the path passes in front of a spring and then follows the stream in the coombe: cross it and follow the markings carefully in this part because the trail is sometimes not very visible. Once you reach a clearing, cross the stream again; continue to the right: the trail continues to climb and joins a path that you take to the right to reach the village of Bourrière.As you leave the village, take the path on the left. When you get to the wood, the track becomes a path and crosses a stream. Go back up to the road.Cross it, and continue on the path opposite. Follow this road to the right to return to the starting point.

This family route, with its varied landscapes, will delight young and old alike.Departure from the church.Follow the path to the left of the war memorial until you reach a fountain. 10 m further on, take the road on the left. Go through the village and continue straight on, ignoring the road to Las Vargnas on the left. The road becomes a track.At the fork in the track, follow it to the right. The route overlooks a vast valley. When you reach a farm pond, take the road on the right.At the next crossroads, where two paths cross, you can take a shortcut by taking the trail on the right. Otherwise, continue on the large circuit by turning left on a narrow trail at the edge of the woods. 700 m further on, follow the path on the right that goes down to the road. Cross it and continue straight ahead. At the next intersection, bear right. The path ends at the recycling points. Follow the road to the right for 50 m. After the café-bar, take the road on the left: at the first intersection, find point 3.Turn left: this narrow trail is crossed halfway by a municipal road. Take a slight right turn to continue on the trail opposite. When you reach the village, after going through between the farm buildings, take a small trail on the left. This leads to the road that you will follow on the left. At the next intersection, turn right to return to the church car park and then left to return to the starting point.

A 9 km variant of the 14 km Lémovices et Arvernes circuit. This is a very unusual valley... The fauna, flora and climate here are more Auvergnat, as is the architecture; lime mining was practiced in both regions. We're right on the border between Limousin and Auvergne, drawn here by the Chavanon river, which means "the digger" in Old French. This site is exceptional for its diversity, its specific features and the richness of its nature.

This hike will offer you a remarkable view of the highest volcano in metropolitan France, the Puy de Sancy. At 1,885 metres above sea level, this summit is the highest point of the Massif Central. The two streams, the Dore and the Dogne, originate there, and their confluence forms the Dordogne. 

Classified as a "Natural Zone of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest" (ZNIEFF), this valley is of particular interest from a botanical point of view. Some protected species in Limousin have been identified: Lunaria rediviva, Valeriana tripteris, Senecio cacaliaster. This last species is only found in France in the Massif Central.

The model car club "Model Car 19", affiliated with the French Federation of Radio Controlled Cars (FFVRC), was created in 2003. The members work at several scales (TT 1/8 and TT 1/5), internal combustion and electric. A competition is held every year in September.

The villages of Haute-Corrèze have all been involved in agriculture. Walking through these hamlets always produces interesting discoveries during a hike: barns, mansions, crosses and monuments, traditional local architecture... Wooden huts and shelters are also an opportunity to discover old agricultural equipment: dumpers, tedders, old tractors…

Situated at the bottom of valleys, often in spring areas or on the bank of a stream that is barely flowing, wet meadows provide small reserves of fodder in times of drought. Livestock finds food there during periods of very hot and dry weather. They are easily recognised by the presence of rushes, tufts of grass with long leafless stems. In the spring, these areas are also good for dragonflies.

The village was once a dependency of the priory of Port Dieu and was called St-Bonnet-Port Dieu until 1871 before taking its present name. Notice the beautiful juxtaposition of the church and the Sully tree: Sully, a minister of Henri IV, is said to have ordered the mayors of the kingdom to have a tree planted in front of the main door of the churches so that the parishioners could discuss, before and after the service, their interests and those of the parish under the shade.

The granite Romanesque church opens with a poly-lobed portal sheltered by a deep porch covered by a barrel vault. It comprises a single nave, a choir ending in a semi-circular apse with a cul-de-four vault. To the south, a chapel opens into the third bay of the nave. It communicates with a second chapel opening onto the choir. The capitals of the apse are also sculpted (palmettes, interlaced stars).

In the 18th century, a manorial residence, the seat of a barony, existed in the village on the site of the building now built as a school.The pendulum well near this building is a remnant of the former castle farm. Its operation is simple: it is based on the principle of a lever, supported in its middle on a pivot, and carrying a container at one end and a counterweight at the other. Simply vary the weight of one of the arms to give it a rocking movement.
