This is a lovely walk through the Sologne woods where you can often encounter game and wild animals. Sainte-Montaine is the smallest village in the Sauldre and Sologne territory. Very little is known about that Saint after whom the village was named. According to a legend, some mirraculous water springs at the Belle Fontaine (the Fine Fountain) which is the last stop of a pastoral pilgrimage on Whit Mondays amidst a lovely setting.

How about a little trip to the edge of the Beauce region... 1 - From the square, cross the street opposite the town hall and turn left onto the street that becomes a path. Leave the path and take the next right, then turn left at the T-junction to reach the entrance to Obsonville, Chemin de Ronde. 2 - Turn left, then right twice to arrive in front of the Church of St. Vincent de Paris, in the commune of Obsonville. Go around it on the left and walk along Place du Centre, leaving the pond on your left and continuing straight ahead. Turn right and continue straight ahead, walking along the cemetery and crossing the path. 3 - Pass a crossroads and turn right towards Ferme Malvoisine, then turn left to reach the D 403. Cross (carefully) to take the path slightly to the right, turn right at the crossroads, then left and right to enter the path that zigzags along the edge of a wood. 4 - At the T-junction, turn right towards the hamlet of Jarville, then left and right to return to the D403 (carefully). Cross the road and continue straight ahead on the path that leads back to the entrance to Ichy. Take Rue des Vignes, pass the cemetery, and in the curve, turn left onto Rue Grande, which passes in front of St. Vincent Church. At the intersection, turn right to return to the square. Richard Piriou established his own poultry farm in 2014, on the family farm in Guillerval in the south of Essonne. Son of farmers, this poultry farmer raises bare-necked chickens, farm guineafowls, as well as capons for the end of year celebrations. All are raised in a natural outdoor setting and wander through a grassy path of several dozen hectares. The farmer also cultivates cereals on part of his farm according to a sustainable agriculture. Richard's poultry are fed with wheat and corn from the farm but also with oilseeds and protein crops. Richard Priou sells his products on the markets of Etampes or Auvers-Saint-Georges (every other Saturday morning) and then on the markets of Guillerval or Saint-Cyr-la-Rivière (every other Saturday afternoon). It is also possible to place an order directly with the breeder and collect the poultry from the farm.

A legend says that one day a young maid came back from the fountain and did not see the brambles at her feet, stumbled and broke her pitcher. Yet it was necessary to return to the house where reigned a bad boss. Angry, this one reproached the servant for her clumsiness and, to mock her, sent her back to fetch water with a wicker basket. The girl obeyed, her tears fell into the fountain... But in all confidence, imploring the Saint, she plunged into water her wicker basket, and MIRACLE ! The basket retained water like the most waterproof bucket and on the path, the brambles were gone forever... You won't find a single one today. So the water from the fountain is said to be miraculous ! Montaine has since become the patron saint of Sologne.

Sainte-Montaine, healer of all ailments and abbess in the region, gave her name to the village and its church. The legend speaks of a beautiful miraculous fountain on the edge of the village which would make all child-seeking couples fertile. The church is closed to the public.

An orphan shepherdess who became a seamstress before reaching literary glory (Marie-Claire, Prix ​​Fémina 1910): Marguerite Audoux (1863-1937) had an astonishing destiny, that her museum traces over 240 square meters, with a completely new scenography.

This church is attested from the IXth century, it is dedicated to Saint-Martin (bishop of Tours in the IVth century). During the Hundred Years War, the church was burnt down by the English twice (in 1356 then in 1412). The side chapels and the choir were built by Robert Stuart, following the fire of 1512. A keystone bears his coat of arms and could be dated to the years 1517-1527.

The Maison Victorine offers a journey through time to discover Aubigny. Annuals exhibitions present souvenirs and objects collected by the population. Open from April to September.

One of the most beautiful and one of the oldest house of Aubigny-sur-Nère, built in 1519 after a big fire (1512). Nowedays, it welcomes the art gallery François 1er where you will appreciate multiple exhibitions.

Béraud and Robert Stuart, formerly Lords of Aubigny, contemporaries of Leonardo da Vinci, built the Aubigny castle in the XVIth century. Visit without delay the Interpretation Center of the Auld Alliance which is located in the enclosure of the castle to learn more about this incredible story that links Aubigny-sur-Nère to Scotland !

Domain of Méréville is assessed as the last example of picturesque garden designed in the late 18th century. It is a remarkable and iconic landscaped park of Anglo-Chinese gardens of the late eighteenth century. It was composed by François-Joseph Bélanger then Hubert Robert on behalf of financier Jean-Joseph de Laborde, wealthy sponsor and great lover of gardens. It belongs to the category of picturesque gardens which mark the rupture with the ideal of regular garden fashionable until that time: composed of an array, articulated around scenes that we discover during the walk and along the water, the landscaped garden is a tribute to an idealized and sublimated nature. The Domain has been owned by the Department Council of Essonne since December 2000 and is the subject of restoration work campaigns. In 2019 it obtained the national label "Jardin Remarquable".

And if we took a little walk to the borders of Beauce ..... 80 km south of Paris, this small village living on agriculture has been mentioned from the 9th century in registers. Moreover, the origin of the name of the place can be traced to a 9th century Count of Gâtinais, Ipdiacus, or to the word isca, “place where walnut trees are grown”. The Saint-Vincent church, dedicated to the Patron des Vignerons, is typical of this region of Gâtinais. However, it has a square bell tower located to the right of the choir, which is rare. Despite everything, it has a saddleback roof, characteristic of the Gâtinais. However, inside, the architectural layout lets in a lot of light, which sets it apart from other churches in the region. In addition, walks are possible around and in the village. So you will probably notice the dovecote-porch visible from Obsonville Street. Indeed, this portal is that of an old stately home. He is said to have welcomed Charles IX for lunch in 1562, while traveling throughout the kingdom with his mother Catherine de Medici. The porch is now filled in and plastered with lime.
