A la Découverte d'une jolie petite chapelle sur les hauteurs de Banyuls. Leave from the tourist Office, past the town hall, follow the cafés terraces and then turn left on the Avenue du Puig del Mas. Follow the marking of the GR10 and pass under the railway bridge. Turn on your right, follow the climbing path and continue on a dirt track to the Col de las Vinyes. Cross the paved runway. The trail sometimes leads up in front of you through the Cork oaks and passes next to the Corral Nou. Continue towards the Col de la Llagastera and continue on the tarmacked path for about 700 metres. Take the trail on your right which passes by the hunters fountain (drinking water) and then climbs steeply towards the pass of the gascons. Turn left and go down the tarmacked path for about 600 meters. In a hairpin turn, take the dirt trail that runs along the ridge through the vines to the Col Ullastre. At Notre Dame-de-la-sale, go down the path that leads to the Cami de la Chapelle. Pass at the foot of the tower of Mas Reig and its magnificent Mediterranean garden and then go down along the paved road towards the railway Bridge. Walk along the river by the Avenue Général de Gaulle to reach the town hall and join the tourist Office.

On the trail of Walter Benjamin, writer-philosopher fleeing the Vichy regime in 1940. From the Banyuls-sur-Mer Tourist Office, pass by the town hall then turn left onto General de Gaulle Avenue. Pass under the railway bridge and immediately turn left to reach Puig del Mas via Pierre de Marca Avenue until you reach Place Abel Pages on the left. (Note at the starting point, the monument dedicated to Walter Benjamin and Lisza Fittko). From the parking lot, continue towards the dirt track that leads to a path through the vineyards near Mas Guillaume. Continue on a paved road and turn left towards Col del Bast. At the pass, take the path that rises to the right and follow the route for 500 meters. The trail follows the ridges of the massif. Pass by the base of an electric pylon and take the rocky path that crosses several scree slopes towards Col de Rumpissar at 538 meters above sea level. (The circuit continues to Port-Bou on the GR92, it takes an additional 1 to 1.5 hours, with the possibility of returning by train from Port-Bou). By turning left, it is possible to follow the hiking trail to "Saute Montagne" which leads to the Tower of Querroig at 672 meters above sea level and offers an exceptional 360° panorama. To descend, retrace your steps from Col de Rumpissar. Once you reach the "La Colline des Oliviers" housing estate, take Pierre de Marca Avenue back to the Tourist Office.

Discover the life of the sculptor through 15 information panels while strolling through the alleys of old Banyuls. Start at the Office de Tourisme (Tourist Office). From there, walk past the town hall and Place Paul Reig, then continue along the beach and café terraces toward Port-Vendres. At the end of the beach, stay left and follow the Avenue de la République, which leads you to Place Bassères. The circuit begins on your right, where you'll ascend the Rue Aristide Maillol (stairs). Each information panel along the route directs you to the next step of the journey.Follow the signs until you return to Place Bassères for the tour's end. Along the way, make sure to admire the various sculptures by Aristide Maillol displayed throughout Banyuls. For a more in-depth experience, consider visiting the museum dedicated to Maillol, located 5 km from the town center at his former farmhouse​. 

Fantastic hike along the ridges of Banyuls, following the footsteps of those who fled France from 1940 to 1945 in search of freedom Departure from the Banyuls-sur-Mer Tourist Office. Go up Avenue du Général de Gaulle towards Puig del Mas, then cross the river "La Baillaury"  via the bridge. Continue on Avenue Pierre de Marca until you reach Place Abel Pages on the left. From the parking lot, continue towards the dirt track that leads to a path through the vineyards near Mas Guillaume. Continue on a paved road and turn left towards Col del Bast. At the pass, take the path that rises to the right and follow the trail for 500 meters. The trail follows the ridges of the massif. Pass under an electrical pylon and take the rocky path that crosses several scree slopes towards Col de Rumpissar at 538 meters above sea level. Turn left and take the path that ascends towards the Tour de Querroig at 672 meters above sea level, which offers you an exceptional 360° panorama. At "Col de Rumpissa", head towards Pla del Ras, "Col des Empedrats", "Col de Teixo", "Puig d'en Jorda" At "Col d'en Torn", turn right towards "Col de la Martina". At "Col de la Martina", descend onto the track that crosses Reg de la Roubine, then at the track junction, go straight, pass through a ford and another. There, the road becomes paved. Pass by "Mas Xatard". Arrival at the Aristide Maillol Museum.  Cross the property and take the paved road that crosses the river "la Ballaury". Turn right from the museum parking lot onto a narrow road. Continue on the road to "Col de Banyuls" then "avenue du Général de Gaulle". At the end, turn right towards the Tourist Office."

Breathtaking views and swimming Continue on the Anse de Fontaulé promenade, then climb the road on the sidewalks along the D 914. Continue to Elmes beach. Turn right and take the path that winds along the coast through ancient vineyards. Take the path on the left along the cliff towards Cape Ullastrell. Continue on the right. The path leads to the cliff. Turn left until the barrier in the bend and continue on the track which leads to the houses at Fourat. Join the second beach by an opening in the wall. Cross it and return to the coastal path. At the end of the beach turn left and pass under the iron bridge. Take immediately the path that goes up and continue the path inside the fences to go down towards Bernadi beach. Cross the stream bed. Cross the beach and walk along the wall to take the path on your right. Continue on the very steep path and cross several coves to arrive at the foot of Cap Béar. Take the asphalt road for a hundred meters to take the path on the right. It goes up towards the semaphore. At the top, cross the paved road and take the path opposite in the direction of Fort Béar. It will continue towards the lighthouse at the pier. At the bottom of the path, turn left and continue a few meters on the tarmac road. Turn right and take the path that goes around La Redoute de Mailly. Go back down and join the track on the right which arrives at rue de la Jetée. Continue on this street via the zebra crossing, turn right and continue on the tarmac track. Then take opposite and continue to the right on the sidewalks towards the city center. Bypass the ferry terminal on your left, continue on the Quai de la République then on the right the Quai François Joli until the tourist office.

"Breathtaking views of the coast, the plains, and southern Catalonia." Depart from the Tourist Office, passing by the Town Hall and the café and restaurant terraces in the square, then onto Avenue du Puig del Mas. Take a glance across the street at the birthplace of the sculptor Aristide Maillol, marked by a plaque on the facade. Continue along Avenue du Puig del Mas for 150 meters. Turn right before the parking lot; the GR10 passes under the railway line. Turn right, the trail ascends, passing by a house to reach Col de las Vinyes, a junction of roads. The trail continues straight ahead, ascending to reach Col de Llagostera (255m). There's an orientation table; the building on the left is a former winery. Continue on the paved road for 500 meters, then turn right. The trail passes by the hunters' fountain and ascends steeply to Col des Gascons (386m). Leave the track that veers left and continue on the trail ascending towards Battery 500. The GR10 veers left to continue towards Col de Formigó and Col de la Vallauria (418m). Along the way, observe the Reig cellars (ruins). From Col de la Vallauria, follow the GR10 to Sallfort (981m). There's an option to reach Col de Banyuls via the trail along the border (marked in yellow). Note: This route can be shortened by starting from Col des Gascons, accessible via D86, also known as the Route des Crêtes.

Discovery of Banyuls-sur-Mer and the paths taken by exiles to flee the country. Option to start from the Tourist Office on foot (or by car). Pass by the town hall, then turn left onto Avenue Général de Gaulle. Pass under the railroad bridge. Continue straight ahead, then left at the standing stone with directions : follow the tarred road nicknamed the 'Route des Mas' : pedestrians should be cautious on this fairly narrow road. Continue until reaching the Maillol Museum parking lot. From the parking lot, take the tarred road on the left that crosses the Baillaury river : follow the signs for the Maillol Museum. At the museum, climb a few steps through the property to reach the tarred road. Turn left, continue on the road; at 150m, leave the road that continues on the left and continue straight ahead towards Mas Xatard. Cross the ford, the road turns into a dirt track, second ford, continue on the track. At the intersection of tracks, leave the one that goes left and continue straight ahead. The track crosses the Rec de la Rovira and rises towards the Col de la Martine. At the pass, leave the track to take a left onto a path that climbs and opens onto a grassy plateau; this continues straight ahead to Col del Torn, the passage of freedom.The return is along the same path. The trail rejoins the tarred road.

Between vineyards and "mas". Depart from the Tourist Office, pass by the town hall then turn left onto General de Gaulle Avenue. At 900m after the railway bridge, turn left onto Mas Road. 800m from there, you'll reach Jean Ferrer Square, marking the beginning of the Cami d'Anicet. Start the Cami d'Anicet with a rather steep slope. About 150m in, you'll see a building protected by trees (the former oil mill of Mas Reig). Upon reaching a section of paved road on the left, leave behind the ruins of Can Rède on the left, take the path that crosses the abandoned vineyards. In the distance, you can see the last foothills of the Pyrenees mountain range. Pass under Mas Rafalet, continue until you reach a paved track (approximately 1km). Turn right to find the trail that leads back to Jean Ferrer Square and return to the Tourist Office.

"Discover tower, chapel, and defense system with breathtaking views." Starting from the Tourist Office, passing by the town hall, take a left onto General de Gaulle Avenue for 700m until reaching the Banyuls police station. Climb the stairs after the station and climb Cami Ramader, passing by the underground cellar and shortly after Mas Reig. Take the 'Cami de la Salette'; the slope is steep. You can already see the Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette Chapel (1863). The road turns into a trail after 50m. Once there, admire the landscape, the sea, Banyuls, and its hinterland. Depart behind the chapel, crossing a small cork oak forest. Walk along the ridge. To the right, admire the Vall Pompo valley, to the left, that of the town of Amont "After about 45 minutes, arrive at the Col des Gascons (386m). There, leave the marks of the GR10 on the left." Climb up to the fortification 'Batterie Taillefer' (1881) via a winding, narrow, and steep road. Arrive half an hour later at the foot of the Madeloc Tower (656m). Magnificent and emotionally moving viewpoint of beauty. To return to Banyuls, turn back and take the GR10 at the Col des Gascons, passing by the Fontaine des Chasseurs and then the orientation table at the Col de la Llagostera. Follow the GR10 back to Banyuls along the cork oak forest overlooking Vall Pompo and through the Col de Las Vinyes. Descend to the bridge under the railway. You have arrived in Banyuls (return to the Tourist Office).

In the heart of Montagne Noire, half way between Montpellier and Toulouse, at 45 km away front Carcassonne, enjoy the indoors and outoors comfort in a wooded setting along the river. The Força Vella section of the ramparts was a military construction of decisive importance right from the times of the Roman precint (1bC). During the second half of the 14th century, this defensive rampart was thoroughly rebuilt at the initiative of Peter III the Ceremonious. The medieval fortification rested on the natural rock that rose a few meters above the sandy banks of the river Onyar.  It was an improvement over the old Roman wall which was used as a foundation, made into a double wall or even, in some sections, actually replaced by the new wall. From the early years of the 16th century, the walled precinct was absorbed into the city and the walls, by becoming features actually standing in the city, lost their military defensive value. This situation brought on the star of their deterioration, as parts of the walls were gradually altered from the inside and the outside to meet the needs of the people living alongside the fortification, by which time the former defensive construction had become an enormous party wall.  

Discovery of an exceptional natural environment At an altitude of 850 m, this chasm is about 60m by 30m and is accessible thanks to a platform of vision for a visit in full safety. It is the abyss of both absorption and collapse. The total depth reaches about 110m. This hole was a mass grave. When the horses were at the end of their life, their owner took them to this chasm. We guess then why this hole was prized crows.

One can, without fear of being accused of exaggeration, describe Fontestorbes as "Wonder of the World" and contrary to the seven wonders of the ancient world, all having in common to be the fact of the man, Fontestorbes is the only fruit of the chance of nature. A rare phenomenon and really extraordinary. For most of the year (7 to 9 months), the fountain runs constantly. On the other hand, during periods of low water from July to September, one day, it becomes abruptly intermittent over a complete cycle of about 60 to 90 minutes.

The Frau Gorge is the result of a long geological evolution. The mountain of Frau is an accumulation of secondary folded and compressed tablecloths carved by the glaciations, the strong snows and numerous floods digging the valley in gorges.

The fountain, once the place of processions and altars, was the village centre of old Mireval which was, according to memory, in a valley where tiles and carved stone was found.

The name of this hamlet comes from the occitan mira valh meaning "look at the valley".
