Just before the final uphill incline a refreshing break awaits you when you cross the shallow waters of the river. 1 – Arlebosc Take the small uphill road at the end of the car park then go immediately onto the steep uphill incline passing through vineyards and orchards at the beginning.2 – Malgaray Turn right onto the level track. At Gardon, turn right then immediately left then right again between the low walls, onto the Randocroquis trail. Turn right onto the road then left and right again onto a path going uphill into woodland that becomes wider further on. At the end, turn left into the cherry tree grove. Turn right onto the road then left between fields. Cross the road. 5 - Sapet Go down the small road becoming a wide track after the chicken coop. Go onto the small lane further down and continue downhill. Turn left between orchards just after Petit Chazotte. 6 - Grand Petit Turn right between the orchards and head towards the farm les Blanchettes. After the farm turn left onto the road. At the big crossroads below take the shaded path heading towards the football pitch going along the river Doux.7 - La Passerelle Go over the footbridge and up the slope opposite. Cross the railway lines and head uphill into woodland as far as Tincey. Turn left onto the main road then onto the small quite steep lane to the right just after the bottom of the dale. Head uphill towards the main road going from Tournon to Lamastre. Cross over, heading towards Rattier.8 – Rattier Take the slightly downhill path between orchards going into a lovely chestnut tree grove. You come out onto a small road leading down to Le Crestet. However, be careful to enquire beforehand about the water level here. Over the other side turn left and carry on along the fencing of horse pastures. Go through a rather rough section along the side of the rockface paying attention to the water level there again. Go up the steep incline round the back as far as the road running above the railway line. The Train of Ardèche

Time for a day or half a day, the Train of Ardèche travels the mountainside railway overlooking the Gorges du Doux. Beautiful views and works of art will follow each other on the way in cars registered as French historical monuments. Several trips are available, depending on the season: Le Mastrou: For 130 years, this is the name of the steam train that runs to Lamastre! Covering the entire 28-kilometer line, this historic journey is an unforgettable experience along the Doux valley. After passing through the gorges, the landscape opens up to the surrounding villages, offering panoramic views of the Ardèche countryside, chestnut groves and orchards. A stop at Boucieu le Roi (midway along the route) allows the locomotive to refuel. At the terminus, passengers watch the locomotive turn around at the turntable, and have 3 hours to visit the town of Lamastre and enjoy its many restaurants. Round trip on the day. Le Train des Gorges : Full steam ahead, travelers discover the wildest part of the Doux Gorges, in the heart of the Doux Valley Sensitive Natural Area. The journey ends at the charming little station of Colombier-le-Vieux / Saint-Barthélémy-le-Plain. At its destination, the 44-tonne locomotive is turned around on the swing bridge, manoeuvred by hand! An impressive sight not to be missed before the return journey. Round trip over a ½ day. Day Train + Velorail: Combine the 2 activities Train de l'Ardèche and Vélorail des Gorges du Doux! Departing from Tournon St Jean station, climb aboard the "Mastrou" for a timeless journey. The Boucieu Vapeur : This steam train takes you up the Gorges du Doux to Boucieu le Roi, nicknamed the "village of a thousand secrets". Overlooking a wide meander of the Doux, this former capital of the Haut-Vivarais owes its name to Philippe le Bel. The Maison du Bailli (Bailiff's House) bears witness to this rich past: listed as a Monument Historique since 1927, this beautiful house, with its corbelled turret, was the seat of the royal court of justice. The village was deeply influenced by Pierre Vigne (1670-1740), a missionary priest from the Vivarais region, whose tomb is in the church. Pierre Vigne was beatified in 2004 by Pope John Paul II. Boucieu-le-Roi : a village with outstanding character

The village stands between Tournon and Lamastre overlooking one of the Doux's twists and turns. The former capital of the Haut-Vivarais was made a bailiwick by the King of France, Philippe-le-Bel until 1565, hence the name Boucieu-le-Roi. In 1291, King Philip "le Bel" made Boucieu the seat of a bailiwick court, it's a royal court of justice extending over the whole of the Haut Vivarais and made it a royal town that was directly under his authority (hence the name Boucieu-le-Roi). Free land until its replacement by Annonay in 1565, Boucieu-le-Roi had the King and various "coseigneurs" as its lord. The village was deeply marked by Pierre Vigne (1670-1740), missionary priest of Vivarais, whose tomb is in the church. Arriving in 1712 in Boucieu where he decided to stop after seeing topographical similarities with Jerusalem, he founded the Order of the "Saint Sacrement" there in 1715. His missionary work is perpetuated throughout the world thanks to the Sisters of the "Saint Sacrement" , a congregation born in Boucieu-le-Roi. Pierre Vigne was beatified on 3 October 2004 by Pope John Paul II. Saint John’s Church The Evangelist: Consecrated in 1492 it was partly destroyed during the Wars of Religion (16th century) and then restored in the 17th century. Of the early church only the central part of the facade remains. In this church, a place of pilgrimage, the “Blessed Pierre Vigne” rests. The Bailiff’s House: Listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments since 1927, this beautiful house with its corbelled turret was the seat of the Royal Court of Justice. Boucieu is also the place where the velorail starts for an original discover of the gorge of the Doux. In 1291, King Philippe le Bel made Boucieu the seat of a bailliage court, i.e. a royal court of justice covering the entire Haut Vivarais region, and made it a royal town reporting directly to him (hence the name Boucieu-le-Roi). A freehold land until it was replaced by Annonay in 1565, Boucieu-le-Roi's lords were the King and various co-lords. The village was deeply influenced by Pierre Vigne (1670-1740), a missionary priest from the Vivarais region, whose tomb is in the church. Arriving in Boucieu in 1712, where he decided to stop after seeing topographical similarities with Jerusalem, he founded the Order of the Blessed Sacrament in 1715. His missionary work continues around the world thanks to the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, a congregation born in Boucieu-le-Roi. Pierre Vigne was beatified on October 3, 2004 by Pope John Paul II. Saint-Jean L'évangéliste church: consecrated in 1492, it was partly destroyed during the Wars of Religion (16th century), then restored in the 17th century. All that remains of the original church is the central part of the façade. Blessed Pierre Vigne is buried in the church, which is a place of pilgrimage. La maison du Bailli: Listed as an Inventaire supplémentaire des Monuments historiques since 1927, this beautiful house with its corbelled turret was the seat of the royal court of justice.
