Visit of the exterior and the chapel of the castle of Saveilles

The XIVth, XVIth and XIXth centuries stand side by side in the sunshine of the Charente, and you can discover and admire the exteriors, surrounded by a moat, comprising two square-shaped buildings with towers at their ends. Despite a period of abandonment, the ravages of the French Revolution and the ravages of time, the castle of Saveilles retains a multitude of sculptures, mullioned dormers, decorated with mythological subjects, loopholes and archways, machicolations, and its 19th century chapel. Among the masters of this noble house were the Marshals of CAUMONT LA FORCE and TURENNE, at a time when Protestantism made Saveilles an important place of the Reformation in Angoumois. To discover : The tower of the prison, with its gunboats, in the north; the big tower, with its loopholes, archères and machicolations, in the south; The two other sides, north and west, of the square delimiting an interior courtyard in the middle of which stands a well; And many other things still by coming to visit it... 2 playful visit routes: "Pierre t'invite" and "Investigate the forgotten legend".
