Within this vast area of cereal plain, the Paine de Niort bocage belt, of which the site is a part, is a major landscape landmark. The bocage pattern is particularly attractive: continuous, thick, multi-stratified coppice hedges, often lined with embankments or ditches, bordering grazed or mown meadows with a few ponds, copses and isolated trees, served by numerous grassed areas and in a very tranquil setting, given the low density of built-up areas.
Open to the public through events organized by naturalist associations. Information and awareness-raising panels are present in places.
