Explore Saint-julien-en-beauchene: nature and heritage

For a few kilometers discover the natural resources of the valley of Jarjatte, a magnificent site classified by the state since 2012, for the recognition of the picturesque of this place and the work done by all the local actors for its safeguarding. From La Jarjatte, follow the GR 93 for 400m towards La Plainie 1. From there, take a path in the woods to reach the Permafrost de Combe Obscure 2. Continue until the Pasture of Mougious 3 and its magnificent panorama, before descending to Ravine de la Chaumette 4 (attention strong slope). Then join the Cascade de Mougious 5 at 200 m. Go back to the Ravin de la Chaumette 6 and head towards La Jarjatte via the Combe Bertin 7. Take the road between Combe Bertin and La Jarjatte for 1.6 km.

Walk through the wide open spaces of several important alpine pastures. From the passes of Tournerond and La Chante, admire the sumptuous panorama of the peaks surrounding you, you will leave with unforgettable images full head. At the Pont des Amayères (parking), take the path that enters the gorges towards the Bergeries des Amayères 1. To the sheepfolds, the valley separates in two, take the left one which goes towards the Valle de Tranchemule 2, go along a small stream. After crossing the Vallon de Tranchemule, the trail stiffens to reach the Col de Tournerond 3. Join the Col de la Chante 4 crossing the alpine slopes to your right. Once on the ridge, you will descend to the pass. Leave the ridge and descend into the hollow of the valley to reach La Cassa 5. The trail, leading to the foot of the Chevalet mountain, widens and continues for a moment flat, then descends to the crossing of the Reservoir 6. From there, continue straight, cross the hamlet of Sièzes 7 and Chemin des Miellons 8. In the first turn of the road, a path allows to cut the laces to join the Pont des Amayères more quickly.

An enjoyable, interesting loop that will show you Grand-Ferrand in a new light. At the Grand-Ferrand picnic car park, you will see a hut, which is the starting point for your hike. Take the wide track that climbs up. You need to head towards Col de la Croix via the Resistance Trail, passing through Les Fontettes, Fontaine des Boeufs and Refuge de la Croix. Once you’ve reached Col de la Croix (this pass connects the departments of Isère and Drôme), you can enjoy the views of the peaks all around, especially Dévoluy. Now follow the Resistance Trail towards L'Alpage de la Paille. From here, make for the old sheepfold following the yellow posts dotted across the mountain pasture. Take care when you come across herds of cows: make sure you go around them. The path goes down gently, leading to the old sheepfold that was destroyed during the Second World War. Then you’ll come to the old sheepfold signpost, and carry on until you get to the Amigoni Stele. Carry on to the Girardère signpost before making your way to the Grand-Ferrand picnic spot, 800 meters from your current position. And then you’ll be back at your starting point.

Between Drôme and Hautes-Alpes, this forest hike is refreshing. On leaving, linger in the alleys of the village of La Piarre. 50 m downstream from the bridge over the Courenq torrent, cross the footbridge on the left ("Gorges du Gros Morel" post) and go up the path to the hamlet of the Château (GRP markings). Follow the road for 100 m. Follow then  the path on the right which goes up and  get back to the road in a hairpin bend. Follow the road upwards for 400 m Take another path to the right which joins a track. Follow that track to the right. About 300 m after a hairpin bend, the path leaves the track on the left and climbs to come out at the Col de Combes (1413 m). At the "Col des Combes" post, leave the GRP and follow the left path. After about 750 m, descend a steep path, which goes left to the Col de Carabès. Cross the road and walk up the steep path to reach the Serre du Charron ridge (1357 m). A bumpy winding path runs along this ridge often under pines, firs or beeches. Pass the Col de la Selle and continue on the ridge to the Col du Charron (1319 m). Reach the wide tracks and, at the second post "Col de Charron", go down by following the one on the left, in a  pines, then beeches forest . It is extended by a road. Go past the farm in the hamlet of Granges. After the bend around the rock of Serre Lacroix, take the path on the right, cross the torrent and reach the starting point back.

This loop begins at the hamlet of Avers, where you can see the vines planted on the south-facing slopes, before climbing to the village of Prébois, where you can enjoy a 360° panorama of the surrounding mountains!

Storm Mount Barral. At the top, admire the Dévoluy massif and its majestic mountains such as the Grand Ferrand and the Aiguilles de Lus. Departure from Col de Menée (parking), take the direction of Mont Barral, passing by The Tunnel 1 then Pré Rond 2. The trail is narrower and the slope gradually increases along the ridge to the summit of Mount Barral 3 (beautiful panorama over the whole region). From there, continue south to reach Crête de Jiboui Crest 4 and then turn to the right to take the GR 93 (white-red markings) for a moment until the Paturage de Jiboui  junction 5. The return to the Col de Menée takes place along a path along the alpine meadows and in the undergrowth (yellow and green markings).

Go on the heights around the Rocher de Combau, magnificent panoramas await you on the south of the hauts plateaux du Vercors in particular. Departure of Nonières (parking in the hamlet), direction Col de Côte Chèvre 1. Follow the yellow-green markings and take the path just behind the hotel "Le Mont Barral". Farther on, cut the road to Col de Menée and continue between forests and clearings. The trail follows a wood of spruces and pines with hooks to emerge at the Col de Côte Chèvre. After enjoying the spectacular view, this hike continues through the crossing of a scree before reaching the road at the crossroads Granges de Combau 2. For a moment, take the road that goes around the rock of Combau, to the directional post that tells you Liodève 3. From there, leave the tar for a nice path in the underbrush that runs along the creek of Combau (always yellow and green markings). After crossing the road again twice, reach Liodève. The return to Nonières is effected by the GR 93.

Cette petite boucle cyclotouritique sans difficulté rayonne autour de la Bâtie-Montsaléon, ce petit village qui dort aujourd'hui sur le site d'une importance ville gallo-romaine. Le site a été plusieurs fois fouillé et identifié comme un des plus importants sur la voie romaine allant de Milan à Arles. Depuis la mairie de La Bâtie-Montsaléon, suivre la D148 direction Savournon jusqu'à l'intersection avec la D 48 A l'intersection de la D 148 avec la D 48, prendre à gauche pour passer le Col de Chaumiane puis continuer en direction de Chabestan. Suivre la route sur 4km jusqu'au croisement de la D 48 avec la D 49 Chabestan. Au carrefour, prendre la route du Villard gauche. Suivre cette route sur 3,5 km pour revenir jusqu'au parking de la mairie de La Bâtie-Montsaléon.

Balade facile, au panorama fantastique sur le bassin du Buëch, les sommets du Dévoluy et les montagnes de Savournon. De la place publique de La Bâtie-Montsaléon, devant la mairie, monter dans le vieux village et zigzaguer dans les ruelles jusqu’au château. Le contourner par la gauche et suivre la piste qui longe le plateau de Marésieu pendant 1,5 km. Au bout du plateau, descendre à droite pendant 50 m, croiser une piste et poursuivre le sentier en lacets, pour partir à droite en suivant la courbe de niveau, en longeant les champs cultivés. Descendre ensuite à gauche sur une ancienne piste pour rejoindre le chemin goudronné (Chabestan / La Bâtie-Montsaléon).  Prendre cette route à droite pendant 1,3 km jusqu’à La Bâtie-Montsaléon.

We're on the mountain side between the Cirque d'Archiane and the Vallon de Combeau, below the Tussac promontory. The GR 93 (East-West Vercors Crossing) passes in front of the house, as does the GR 965 (Huguenots Walking Trail). Our stop-over lodge is a starting point for a wide selection of beautiful hikes, mountain-biking and road-biking trails. The Bénevise gîte is also close to several rock-climbing sites (Aiguilles de Bénevise, Cirque d'Archiane, Vallon de Baïn). We're not far from such remarkable sites as the Sucettes de Borne and the Cascade du Sapet. And conveniently located between 4 Via Ferrata! This is Clairette de Die wine country and transhumance territory, with its mountain pastures, sheepfolds, cairns and Transhumance festival. In short, there's plenty to discover and enjoy! Bénevise stop-over lodge is made of 3 apartments. Each apartment has 2 dormitories with 3 to 4 beds, for a total of 20 places. Each apartment has its own bathroom, toilet and communal lounge with kitchenette. In addition, we have a beautiful terrace in front of the house and a more secluded outdoor space behind the house. Breakfast, packed lunches and evening dinners are lovingly cooked with lots of fresh and regional produce. Here, cooking is based on inspiration, the seasons and memories of travels and flavours.

Campsite under the trees located at the heart of the medieval village of Châtillon-en-Diois, near the river, with shade and a family atmosphere, at the foot of the Hauts Plateaux du Vercors and close to the Clairette and local wines domains. Equipment at the campsite include a snack, a swimming pool with 3 pools and a lane dedicated to swimmers, a boules playing field and multi-sports and tennis court. The campsite offers pitches for tents, caravans, mobil homes and camper vans as well as alternative accommodation: the comfortable and fully-equipped tents Coco Sweets. Walks, hikes and mountain bike trails accessible nearby, some starting from the campsite.

The meteorology of this sector makes it its richness.The climate of the preharms of the humid north and that of the dry south alps mingle and favor an unusual procession of natural environments.

Every summer the slopes of the Jocou welcome sheep flocks in summer (some cattle on the lower part). The herds maintain these vast alpine pastures, which give a bucolic framework to this hike. Without the maintenance of the alpine pastures, the forest would gradually gain ground.

A stop-over on the GR91 hiking path, close to many walking, cycling or horse riding trails, it offers a well-deserved rest at the heart of a preserved environment and a picturesque village. You can combine a sleep over with a breakfast/meal in the evening at Le Bistrot restaurant when it is open. Stop over lodging for 8 in bunk beds. Bathroom and toilets. Le Moulin Campsite welcomes you at the heart of nature, close to the source of the river Drôme. Located at the crossroad between Vercors and the Baronnies regions there is a wide range of activities available on site: walks in nature, mountain bike rides, climbing and family-friendly activities…. Indeed, the village of Valdrôme is on the cross-Vercors walking trail GR91 'Traversées du Vercors' and 'les Chemins du Soleil' mountain bike trail. Come and enjoy a quiet and preserved environment with la Drôme river sources nearby and admire one of France most beautiful night sky.

Valdrôme in Haut-Diois is surrounded by mountains, some with lavender fields. It is a charming hilltop village at 800 m of altitude on a rocky outcrop offering one of the clearest starry sky in France. Hikers, families, groups of friends, sports clubs…everyone is welcome for a night or a longer stay at Auberge de Valdrôme. We offer 6 bedrooms accommodating 2 to 4 guests in single and/or double beds. Each bedroom is en-suite with a shower and a washbasin. There are two shared toilets on the landing.
