The monks' path leads you from the village abbey to the remains of the female monastery of Coyroux. Discover the historic district of Barry-bas with its beautifully restored old houses and the traces of the old mills. Let yourself be charmed by the paths in the undergrowth and the waterfalls of Coiroux.

This 80 km circuit allows you to discover beautiful viewpoints and to contemplate the richness of the natural heritage of Correze. Your journey begins in Aubazine, a village immersed in a landscape of wooded hills. The Cistercian abbey and its monks' canal are a must. The famous Coco Chanel grew up here and drew much of her inspiration from it, notably for her famous logo! Among the many viewpoints on the circuit, the Puy de Roche de Vic is a must, an ancient site occupied by the Gauls. An orientation table will allow you to enjoy an exceptional 360 degree panorama. The tour then takes you to Argentat sur Dordogne, an old trading port which owes its splendour to the presence of the Dordogne, once considered an important trade route: sale and transport of oil, wine, nuts, wood, Auvergne herds...

A tour in four zones: the first one offers you all the singularities of the wetlands and aquatic zones, with their particular fauna and flora. Then you can discover the forestry in the forests managed by the ONF. Then, here is the Coiroux golf course: rough, fairway, green? don't hesitate to ask the players. You will walk along wide paths through meadows and undergrowth in this chestnut village, from which it takes its name. 600 meters from the town of Aubazine lie the remains of the Coyroux women's monastery, abandoned in 1791. All that remains are the ruined walls of the church. However, excavations carried out on the site between 1976 and 1989 have enabled us to reconstruct the layout of the monastic buildings and identify the major transformations they underwent over the centuries. The priory was supplied by the male abbey via the Chemin des Moines, built to link the two monasteries. This path is now a pleasant place to stroll. The female monastery is not open to visitors, but the remains are visible from the road.

600m from the town of Aubazine lie the remains of the Coyoux women's monastery, abandoned in 1791. All that remains are the ruined walls of the church. However, excavations carried out on the site between 1976 and 1989 have enabled us to reconstruct the layout of the monastic buildings and identify the major transformations they underwent over the centuries.

An exceptional 1.5 km-long 12th-century work of art, sometimes dug into the rock, sometimes corbelled by the abbey's Cistercian monks, the canal des moines runs along the rock face from its intake on the Coyroux stream. It served fish ponds and mills and brought running water to the monastery. There are several possibilities for walks: round-trip along the Canal (1h30) or loop walks (3h). Departure point near the wash-house on the Route de Tulle. Please note: no pets, bicycles, motorcycles or baby carriages allowed. Site not accessible to people with reduced mobility. Walking shoes recommended. Guided tours in July and August.

Made of pink gneiss (Aubazine stone), this monument dates from the Megalithic period, the last stage of the Neolithic era (4,000 years ago). It was probably a burial site. The dolmen is made up of three pillars and measures 3.60m long and 2m wide.
