This loop is currently being developed. Departing from Colleville-Montgomery, you'll discover the cycling loop around Sword beach, the easternmost of the D-Day beaches. Sword is the code name for the area between Ouistreham Riva-Bella and Luc-Sur-Mer, where D-Day operations took place. Between historic sites, museums and sensitive natural areas, at the end of the route you follow the Orne canal to Ouistreham. Along the way, you'll admire the Pegasus Bridge, a historic D-Day site and museum. The loop will be signposted in both directions by the green sticker bearing the number 20.

Starting from Ouistreham, follow the canal and cross the river via Pegasus Bridge, a strategic D-Day landmark, then take the Vélomaritime to Merville-Franceville.

Stretching across 70 hectares, this mysteriously named wood is populated by young trees. The wet woodland is the prevailing environment and is home to species such as ash and pedonculate oak, particularly well-adapted to the presence of water.

This seaside itinerary will take you along the coastline of the English Channel, taking in its sights and landscapes. In just over an hour, you'll pass through charming little villages combining history, old stones and natural beauty. Bonne route en Coeur de Nacre!

Le Coudray is in an old farmhouse 300 m from the village of La Pallu, near the forest, 9 km from Pré-en-Pail, 30 km from Alençon, 12 km from La Ferté-Macé, 9 km from Couterne and 14 km from Bagnoles de l'Orne, a spa town. A small, personal campsite on the edge of the Normandie Maine National Park, a site with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and the village of Couterne. Situated on the main road between Lassay-les-Chateaux (Petites Cités de Caractère) and the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, on the border between the departments of Mayenne (Pays de la Loire) and Orne (Normandy). A warm welcome awaits explorers in caravans, motorhomes and tents, whether travelling with a motor vehicle or on their own. Our pitches are spacious and bordered by hedges. In Neuilly-le-Vendin, you'll find a café-bar-restaurant with a bread counter and a hairdresser. More shops in Pré-en-Pail (12km) and La Ferté-Macé (15km). You are 13km from the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne and in the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park. You'll love the hiking trails and the nearby Véloscénie cycle route linking Paris to Mont Saint Michel. If you fancy a spot of fishing, there are plenty of opportunities in the village, with lakes and trout in the river.

The large garden is enclosed by a gate, so you can make the most of the various facilities on site: jacuzzi, petanque area, covered play area for meals and several games for young and old (badminton net, darts, table football, mölkky, football goal, volleyball net, table tennis, etc.). 5 bedrooms are accessible via different staircases with a marked incline (steps of 17 cm, 21 cm and an openwork staircase for the outbuilding). All are equipped with a ramp and can be seen in the photos in the advert. All the bedding is new and of high quality (mattress, base, pillow, duvet, bed linen). If you're looking for a wellness break in an unspoilt natural setting, with friends or family, the Moulin de Cordouen, between Mayenne and Orne, offers a quality service with its sauna and Nordic bath on the River Mayenne. The Moulin has been redesigned by an architect to offer spacious accommodation in every room, with bay windows to take advantage of the waterfall and the landscape. The two stone buildings are linked by a glass roof and completely surrounded by wooden terraces. They can accommodate up to 10 people. On the ground floor, the living area - 58m² - is very bright and features a lounge area with large sofas, widescreen TV and pellet stove, a large dining table and an open-plan fitted kitchen, a utility room (washing machine, tumble dryer). A wellness area with sauna, Italian shower and separate toilet, open onto the Nordic bath terrace. Superb views of the river and hills. Sleeping area: 2 bedrooms (28m²), one with 1 double bed (160*200) and 1 single bed (90*200) and the other with 1 double bed (160*200), each with en suite facilities. Upstairs, 2 bedrooms, one with 1 160*200 bed and the second with 3 90*200 beds, a shower room with walk-in shower and wc. The full service includes bathroom linen, including bathrobes for adults, household linen, electricity, wood and pellets (heating). Optional: cleaning (120€), if you do not select this option when booking, a cleaning cheque must be deposited on arrival and returned at the end of your stay if the cleaning is completed. All shops in Pré-en-Pail Samson 7km away and many producers around the gîte (ask for advice on arrival). The spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne is 19km away. Don't miss the fortified castle of Lassay-les-Châteaux with its 8 massive towers and drawbridge still in use!

The De la Brèche chapel was first built in 1932 and was then called the Chapelle des Baigneurs. It was damaged during the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. In order to cope with the harsh winter, some inhabitants came to collect the planks of the Chapelle des Baigneurs to keep warm. The local parishioners decided and financed the construction of this new chapel in 1954. This beautiful chapel received the label "Heritage of the 20th century" in 2004.

1,005 graves.

Originally a bulldozer tank without a turret, during its restoration it was transformed into a Centaur CS (Close Support) tank, to be displayed as a tribute to the Royal Marines' armored support group that landed on nearby Sword Beach. Graduation markings on the turret enabled an outside observer to give firing instructions by radio to the crew, who had only a very limited view of the fighting.

Around Place du Cuirassé Courbet (named after the French ship scuttled off Hermanville-sur-Mer to facilitate bombing operations in June 1944), you'll find a number of monuments to the heroes of the Second World War. You can see the statue of the Norwegian Sailor, the Royal Navy Sailors' Monument, monuments to the British troops who landed on Sword Beach in 1944, and even a Centaur tank on display a little further along, to the west of the square

Beach huts are a strong feature of coastal towns. This international architectural competition will look at and analyze new uses for this sociologically powerful architecture. Three winners will see their proposals put into practice at Hermanville-sur-Mer. Exhibition at the Pavillon.

This house, Hermanville?s most famous, was built in 1889 by Hector Guimard. It is one of the finest surviving works by the great Art Nouveau architect. It features a skilful interweaving of volumes and lines, including an astonishing curved faux pan de bois. The use of pebbles and shells gives the building its seaside character. The enamelled lava plaque bearing the villa?s name on the portal comes from the Maison Gillet in Paris; the one bearing the architect?s signature has recently disappeared.

La Sapinière was also built by Hector Guimard between 1903 and 1910 for a Parisian. Unfortunately, this small building has been severely altered. The openings have been altered and the first-floor balcony removed. Initially, La Sapinière consisted of ground-floor stores and apartments for seasonal rental.

Perrine Boudy is a ceramist and painter. This young woman is interested in the stories that are told on objects. She's particularly fond of pictorial narratives, all those mini-stories painted on jugs, vases, plates and so on. Perrine Boudy's storytelling comes naturally to her, with a series of ceramics that will punctuate some of the finest buildings in coastal villages.

Near the Flame is the statue of Lord Lovat and his famous piper Bill Millin, who landed in Normandy playing the bagpipes! This soldier was made famous in the film "The Longest Day". Today, his bagpipes are on display in the Pegasus Memorial museum.

Our tea room in Lion-sur-Mer is open from Tuesday to Friday, all day from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. In winter, you can relax on the sofas by the fireside, and in summer, enjoy our garden and its sun loungers. Our chef Katia, co-founder of Les Briques, offers cakes of the day, chosen according to her inspiration and seasonal produce. Crêpes, ice cream and savoury platters are also on the menu! A wide selection of hot and cold drinks rounds off the experience. Katia’s cuisine is always homemade, made with 99% organic, local and seasonal produce. No need to book for the tea room – just pop in and visit us! Les Briques also comprises three other spaces: a co-working space, a co-living space and a woodworking workshop. > The Coworking Space… working remotely by the sea Our coworking space is open Monday to Saturday, from 8am to 7pm. It features 20 open-plan workstations and a meeting room for five people with a 4K TV, ensuring privacy. Twelve workstations are spread across two large tables, whilst eight are situated at standing height on two ‘standing desks’ along the floor-to-ceiling windows. The wooden furniture was bespoke-made in our workshop. A laser printer, high-speed Wi-Fi, 24-inch screens (HDMI or USB-C) and unlimited hot drinks round off our offering. In fine weather, you can also enjoy the garden, which has Wi-Fi coverage. > Coliving Coliving, literally ‘co-living’, simply means ‘living together’. In practice, you have your own cabin, you share communal areas (large kitchen, lounge, bathroom, co-working space, terrace, garden) and you take part in activities with the community (visits, walks, cycling, sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, etc.). Every Saturday evening, there’s a family dinner with all the colivers. Unlike a shared flat, everything is ready when you arrive: bed linen, towels – everything’s included! At Les Briques, we’ve taken particular care with the aesthetics and atmosphere: the use of wood in the entirely bespoke fittings, the preservation of existing raw materials, and the presence of a wood-burning stove in the kitchen and co-working area create an instantly warm atmosphere. The co-living space is located on the upper floor of Les Briques, which is entirely dedicated to it: this is where you’ll find the dormitory, the bathrooms, as well as the kitchen and lounge. This is your space. > L’Atelier Bois We offer woodworking courses (individual or group sessions), as well as personalised support for small and medium-sized carpentry projects. Jean, co-founder of Les Briques, who taught carpentry for twenty years and designed the interiors of the co-living space, the co-working area and our tea room, will be running the classes in our fully equipped joinery workshop, which is conveniently located on site.
