Rauzan is a small village in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers region. Full of history and rich in surprises discover its cave, its castle, its vineyard and its church by helping Robin to solve the riddles. The departure is in front of the Tourist Information Office.

Nature and heritage come together on this stage. From Rauzan, through the vineyards and forests, the walk leads to the Blasimon lake, where swimming is recommended in summer near the Borie mill before visiting the Blasimon Abbey, whose founding history, estimated in 721, is shrouded in legends. Admire the magnificent abbey gate before continuing the journey to the remains of the small chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Nouvelle. Upon reaching Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, a surprising discovery awaits at the forest’s edge: the Hospitaller commandery of Sallebruneau, founded by the Knights Templar at the end of the 12th century. The journey ends in front of the Saubotte gate.

The Haut-Benauge appellation owes its name to history: the Viscounty of Benauge, of which the remains of a powerful castle remain in Arbis. This appellation produces powerful, lively and well-balanced sweet white wines, as well as some dry white wines that are similar to those of the Entre-deux-Mers.

In the heart of the Entre deux Mers region, 50 km east of Bordeaux, the Blasimon leisure area offers a hilly and wooded environment for nature lovers. In the 1970s two successive ponds of 4 and 5 hectares were established in the valley of the Gahet stream in the communes of Cessac and Courpiac at the place called "Laubesc". In 2009, it appears that the two dams have dysfunctions creating ecological disorders. It was therefore decided to develop a project based on the reconversion of this 4-hectare area, combining the preservation of water resources and biodiversity, as well as an interpretation trail of the natural heritage. Fishing is regulated and the re-stocking is managed by the Departmental Fishing Federation. The lake is open to walkers. Dogs must be kept on a leash.

The entire 22-hectare site benefits from the project to restore remarkable or sensitive environments: thus, in addition to the existing offer of fishing and walking in a very well-preserved valley at the foot of the picturesque neighbouring castle, the discovery of a wetland and the awareness of the general public to these remarkable ecosystems are added.

Dating from the 18th century, this dovecote is part of a bourgeois house that once belonged to Laurent Bec. During the Revolution, this local notable was imprisoned and then released. He became mayor of Courpiac from 1802 until his death three years later. His sons were deputy mayors until 1816. The estate currently houses a bed and breakfast of character.

The site of Roquefort was occupied continuously from the Neolithic period to the Middle Ages. During your visit you will discover the longest passage tomb in Gironde, the 13th century château, and the 18th century dovecot, the machinery of which has been exactly replicated by the Compagnons du Devoir. The Roquefort site occupies a promontory (a triangular-shaped Gallic oppidum) bounded by several streams: to the north-west by the Engranne and to the south-east by the Petite Engranne or Roquefort stream. The very steep slopes on either side of this oppidum made access difficult for the assailants. A covered alley, i.e. a burial site, dates from this period. It is 14 m long and 1.40 m wide, and consists of 22 blocks and 3 tables still in place. The Roquefort property, with its 18th century castle, was bought by the Bellanger family who planted more than one hundred hectares of vines there.

This church was given to the chapter of Saint-Emilion by Raymond III, bishop of Bazas, around 1145 or 1146. The Romanesque nave is the oldest element, with the west portal and the apse with columns with historiated capitals and cornice on modillions. The building has been modified over time, as can be seen from the flamboyant windows that pierce the nave and the choir, which was rebuilt in the 16th century. On the north side, two bays and three buttresses identical to those of the south wall were created at the end of the 19th century. The church is listed in the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments.
