A MODEL FACTORY-BOARDING SCHOOL Founded in Lyon in 1810, in 1835 the Bonnet company set up a factory-boarding school in Jujurieux, described at the time as "the most complete establishment in the world". Renowned for its excellent know-how, the Lyon-based company expanded from the south of France to Italy, Poland, Serbia, Abyssinia, London, New York and Paris. EXCEPTIONAL COLLECTIONS Linked to the most illustrious names in haute couture, such as Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint-Laurent, Lanvin, Lacroix and Valentino, the Musée des Soieries Bonnet's collections bear witness to a singular history, whether through its crafts or its workers. An exceptional heritage, Soieries Bonnet has long been more than just a factory, but a city within a city. Chapel, bursar's office, workers' housing estates, school... The site welcomed over 13,000 workers over a hundred years, and even exported its paternalistic organization to Japan. For an enjoyable break, discover Mérignat, typical vineyard village between the hills covered of vineyards, gardens, orchards and wooded plateaus lined with steep rocks. All roads lead to Mérignat ! At departure from neighboring villages, take the marked out pathways. Do you see a tower far away ? Remains of a feudal castle erected in 1302 by Humbert de Chatard, it is an emblem that raise on the heights of the village : when you are at its foot, open wide your eyes, a magnificent panorama on the Cerdon “reculée” is waiting for you. And your eyes are going to be dazzle again : follow the signs in direction of the point of view. You are climbing through the hills that surrounds the Ain plains, or at the heart of green and flowered meadows, discover an original nature that Men has been able to preserve. Mérignat, it’s also and especially a typical village, by its wine-making reputation, with its vineyard stone houses, composed of a barn with a vault, stairs leading to the habitation, a cellar, and for some of them a pig “soue” under the stairs. Discover also its two conventional houses with their adjoining parks. Mérignat, it’s a preserved village, a human place. Take the time to stroll in the little streets of the village and to discover its church, of gothic style (15th) with its bell tower boasting 3 bells of which the littlest one is one of the oldest of the region (1547). Just a few minutes from the A40 Bourg-Sud freeway exit and the Bourg-en-Bresse/Pont d'Ain axis, the Journans campsite invites you to relax and unwind. It is located at 192, montée de Saint-Valérien. GPS coordinates: 46.14742, 5.33094 Journans lies at the foot of the Revermont Massif, some ten kilometers southeast of Bourg-en-Bresse. Nestled in the greenery in the shade of its tall trees, the municipal campsite offers a breathtaking view of the vineyards, the village and the Bresse plain. The campsite is open from May 1 to September 30: - 31 shaded pitches, bordered by hedges, for caravans, tents, motorhomes and vans (note difficult access for large motorhomes). - 1 sanitary block with showers, WCs, washbasins, laundry and dishwashing bins, washing machine and freezer - electrical boxes (6A plugs), 1 camper van drainage system - 1 picnic table, 1 play area (swings, bowls, table tennis) Dogs and cats are welcome, but barbecues and fires are prohibited. Located on the GR59 linking the Alsace balloon to Savoie, this campsite is the ideal address for nature lovers. It's the starting point for numerous walks. Nearby: the old village, the source of the Reyssouze, the chapel of Saint-Valérien and the many paths winding through gardens, vineyards and forest, linking the surrounding villages in a bucolic way and offering beautiful views. A little further afield: Bourg-en-Bresse, the Bouvent water park, the royal monastery of Brou, the Revermont villages, the Ain gorges, Ambronay abbey, the Cerdon copperworks, the medieval town of Pérouges, the Villars-les-Dombes bird park, the Dombes lake circuit, the Bresse farm circuit, Lake Nantua, Lake Genin, ... and also Lyon, Jura, Lac du Bourget, Lac d'Annecy, .....
