If you're looking for a wellness break in an unspoilt natural setting, with friends or family, the Moulin de Cordouen, between Mayenne and Orne, offers a quality service with its sauna and Nordic bath on the River Mayenne. The Moulin has been redesigned by an architect to offer spacious accommodation in every room, with bay windows to take advantage of the waterfall and the landscape. The two stone buildings are linked by a glass roof and completely surrounded by wooden terraces. They can accommodate up to 10 people. This viewpoint is sealed to a bunker of the World War II. At this location was filmed a scene from "Un singe en Hiver" by Henri Verneuil with Jean Gabin and Jean-Paul Belmondo. Below are the cliffs « Les Vaches Noires ». They extend beetween Houlgate and Villers-sur-Mer have been listed as a site of natural and scientific interest in 1995. This site is a wide fossil necropolis of the Jurassic period. You can visit and collect fossils only when tide is going out. It is forbidden to dig to collect fossils.

The Black Cow Cliffs are located between Houlgate and Villers-sur-Mer. Their name comes from a sailors’ song. When seen from the sea, these these huge algae-covered blocks of chalk on the beach are said to ressemble a herd of cows grazing at the foot of the cliff. The great palaeontological and geological wealth has rendered this site of major interest. Another remarkable feature of the cliff is its original ‘bad-land’ morphology, across a succession of ravines and rocky spurs. The Villers-sur-Mer Tourist Office organises outings throughout the year, with departures from the beach, to offer visitors an opportunity to discover these exceptional cliffs.

Dives-sur-Mer’s indoor market bears witness to this highly active trade point that probably dates back prior to the 11th century. Dating on structural wooden beams conducted in 2012 has established that the market’s construction dates from the early 15th century, between 1405 and 1423. The building comprises a central nave and two symmetrical side aisles. The roof frame is supported by a series of 66 oak pillars, as were all major constructions at the time. The market was originally an open building, up to the early 20th century. The present-day side aisles were recently added, in typical Pays d’Auge half-timbered style, comprising a wooden skeleton with cob (a mix of clay and hay) between the beams. The roof is covered with old tiles produced from local clay. The wooden framework is in its original state. In the 1950s the eastern side of the market was closed. The floor was paved, which increased the level by around 20cm, and windows were added to the roofing to allow for natural light. The building houses a highly popular market on Saturday mornings, where you can find an excellent choice of regional fare.

This manor house was built in the 17th century by Leduc de la Falaise, who was valet to the French King Louis XIV. It was later owned by a Lord from Bois-Hibout, to whom it owes its present-day name. Transformed to house a Gendarmerie in the 19th century, the building is also referred to as the ‘Lieutenancy’. The façade still bears the traces of former openings. They probably mark the presence of a former wing, perpendicular to the present-day building, which was destroyed in the early 20th century. They can still be seen on old postcards of the site. The manor was built in Caen stone on a sandy base. It has no foundations but lies on walls of a width of two metres.

Originally built in the 11th century, and completed in the 14th and 15th centuries, the church is particularly relevant to the story of William the Conqueror. A list of the names of William the Conqueror's 475 companions is engraved in stone above the porch.
