From 1957 to 1984, Euclides Ferreira Da Costa enhanced his garden by creating picturesque artistic installations using chips of old plates and glass to form a mosaic: chapels, mills, frescos… a world that is as religious as it is naive and poetic, the world of this self-inspired artist. Delve into the Jurassic Period! Some 160 million years ago, dinosaurs occupied the Earth, and the seas that covered Normandy were home to ferocious marine reptiles… Discover the skeletons of these fearsome predators (Anna the ichthyosaurus: 5.4m in length, a liopleurodon: 10m) together with a great variety of fauna and flora: the Black Cow Cliffs abound with fossils that bear witness to its bygone underwater past. Take part in workshops, guided tours, the treasure trail, etc.

Villers-sur-Mer marks the start of the Greenwich Meridian in Continental Europe and is the only French coastal resort to be situated on the Meridian. In Villers, the spot that marks the Meridian was renovated in 2016 and is in the form of a line on the curved promontory on the central promenade just after the casino and of an illuminated line along the ground in the evening. A simple way to locate the resort on any map of the world: Villers stands at the intersection between the prime meridian and the French coast. One of the exhibition halls in the Paléospace l'Odyssée visitor centre focuses specifically on the Greenwich Meridian. Within an intimate scenographic display, you can admire some fine maritime exhibits from the Paris Observatory and the visitor centre’s own collections.

Located on the Villers-sur-Mer heights, this park covering over 600 metres, is a genuine invitation to enjoy a shaded and romantic stroll near a pond. Several small bridges cross the San Carlo stream. A small kiosk, play areas for children (slide, sand pit, swings, spider’s web, etc.) and benches for you to take a short break or to watch the French bowls players…

The chapel was built between 1953 and 1954 upon the initiative of the Blonville-Bénerville parish association. Jean-Denis Maillard decorated it with mural frescos in 1961.

The batteries of Mont Canisy ? Bénerville-sur-Mer ? Calvados Natural site protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral Origin : Association "Les Amis du Mont Canisy -------------------------- Mont Canisy, located in Bénerville-sur-Mer, overlooks the Bay of Seine and the port of Le Havre from a height of 110m. In 1935, the French Navy installed a battery of 4 138mm cannons, which were neutralized before the arrival of the occupying forces. Aware of the importance of this strategic position, the Germans installed a new and important battery, originally consisting of 6 French 155mm cannons. By 1944, two of these had been transferred to the shelter of nearby casemates. To service the artillery pieces, the Germans built an extensive network of underground galleries over 250m long, 15m below ground, and constructed numerous concrete structures on the surface to house the garrison and equipment. As part of D-Day operations, two British battleships, the "Warspite" and the "Ramillies", and Allied aircraft were tasked with neutralizing the coastal batteries on the Côte Fleurie, particularly those on Mont Canisy. The Germans left the battery without a fight at the end of August 1944. The underground structure can now be visited thanks to a team of volunteers who organize guided tours. This verdant promenade is located on the Touques peninsula at the entrance to Deauville. The area has been developed with sustainability in mind, by associating varieties suited for life in a seafront environment. There are two paths you can go by: one ‘grand site’ offering views over the Touques and the surrounding landscape, the other, a discovery trail through the diversity of plant life via a 99 metre-long wooden (azobe) walkway with benches. Along the ‘grand site’ path, you can admire a selection of images of Deauville taken by photographers, invited each year to take part in Planche(s) Contact, Deauville’s photographic creation festival.

Les Franciscaines was an orphanage when it was founded in 1877, a military hospital, a domestic school, a vocational college and finally a "home for the elderly nuns". It went through a thousand different lives before it was renovated by the town of Deauville. A rebirth with a new vocation: to become Deauville's multi-cultural centre, bringing together in a single building: the media library, museum collections, temporary exhibitions, concerts, conferences, shows, a FabLab and a restaurant. Historic residence built in the early 20th century for Baron Henri de Rothschild, then acquired in 1924 by the American tycoon Strassburger and bequeathed to Deauville by his son in 1980.
