On the agenda: climbs, majestic views, and crossing mountain hamlets. You will complete this tour of Peyragüe by descending from the Chauvet Pass towards Corps, to the old railway line and the market square. The warm-up along the old railway line will be very useful for tackling the climb to the Col du Chauvet, through a mixture of forest and hay meadows, punctuated by the hamlets of Côtes de Corps, typical of the region. At the Col du Chauvet, you can recover while admiring the views that open up over the Obiou, the Dévoluy, and the Cirque de la Salette. From there, the descent will take you to Saint-Julien, where you'll find water, then a quiet path will take you back to Corps, still along the old railway line.

A warm-up in a forest setting, along the stream, ideal for the first outing of the year or for gently approaching the trail. After this gentle warm-up, a series of small climbs and descents will take you to the other side at the foot of the Peyragüe Mountain. The steep descent will bring you closer to the national road before gently returning to Corps via the old railway line.

Very gentle start then change of slope for the climb (water point in Saint Julien). Recovery at the top of Peyrague then single-track descent to Corps with beautiful views of the Lac du Sautet.

A route that leaves its mark... A short warm-up, then a wild climb towards the Vachers and Prés-Clos passes, and a balcony crossing to the sanctuary of Notre Dame de la Salette. Unmarked route (Le Val de la Salette - Sector 5). The route connects the various hamlets of the cirque, and water points are accessible there. Take the opportunity to stock up on water, as the next section in the cirque, connecting the Col des Vachers and the Col de Pré-Clos, is strenuous but wild and magnificent. From the Col de Près-Clos, you reach the sanctuary via a beautiful balcony. At the sanctuary, enjoy a hydration stop alongside the pilgrims before embarking on the long descent to Corps, passing through the hamlets, punctuated by a few short climbs that, at the end of the route, leave their mark...

Gentle start, descent towards the Gillardes for a refreshing break, then a steady and rhythmic climb to the Col des Faïsses, where impressive views of the Obiou enhance the recovery. The long climb to the Col des Faïsses is fairly steady but punctuated by steep sections. Enjoy the views of the Gillardes, the Ecrins, and the majestic Obiou nearby before beginning the descent. At the Col de la Sambue, a refreshing break is available at the chalet.

The ascent to the refuge from Villard Loubière has become a great hiking classic. Small dormitories with duvets, convivial dining room, hot showers and large equipped terraces. A stop on the GR54 footpath that should not be missed. Ideal starting point for the Pic de Turbat, with 3000m of easy access. A stop on the Tour de l'Oisans (GR54 footpath) that should not be missed. The "Pont de Loup" waterfall was intended to provide the electricity required for the operation of the Gap-Grenoble railway line. The advent of the automobile rendered this project pointless and the Gap-Corps section was never completed. 

Ideally situated in the canyon of Le Sautet, since 1935 the dam has enabled the annual generation of 175 million kWh with a maximum output of 76,000 W.It regulates the flow of the Drac, allowing touristic and water-based activities (fishing, bathing, canoeing, zip line and via ferrata, among others) amidst the fertile farmlands of the Drac valley which has been nicknamed "little Paradise" or "little Nice". 

This château was built in 1580 by François de Bonne, the Duke of Lesdiguières and Protestant leader, on the site of a fortified house owned by his family. 

The Sautet lake invites you to a unique mountain framework : a pebbles beach with glittery waters, surrounded by the great Obiou mountain. Still wild and authentic, the dam lake of Sautet benefits from a stunning panorama. The nautical base (Wild Sport Adventure) offers various activities accessible to everyone. During summer, the beach is perfect for children and families since it is the unique supervised beach in Matheysine.

The name "Le Glaizil" is thought to derive from the Vulgar Latin term glitia, meaning loam or clay. Like La Fare, Poligny and Le Noyer, Le Glaizil was once part of a district of church- controlled land, that is to say, the Bishop of Gap had joint lordship - and therefore authority - over the land.

Tradition says the name of the valley comes from the Burgundian chief Gaudemar, who took refuge here in the 6th century. The local inhabitants lived for a long time from subsistence farming and mining. Mountain-climbing began to take off in the second half of the 19th century, and tourism in the 1960s. There are 30 peaks over 3,000 m. The highest point, Les Bancs (3,669 m), stands at the end of this long, narrow glacier valley.

Inhabitants of Valgaudemar have long tried to control water to compensate for dry summers. The Herbeys canal still functions and is well used. With more than 600 litres per second, it waters 289 ha in the districts of Chauffayer and St-Jacques. It is 28km long and was started and finished on the initiative of François Dupont de Poncharra des Herbeys'. It is maintained every year by the members of the users' union who spend several days cleaning out the canal as well as consolidating the vaults.

2nd more important pilgrimage in France after Lourdes, this basilica is a memorable building in the religious architecture of Isère. Beyond gatherings of 15th August and 19th September, the site is worth the journey, from its 1800m height.

The Souffles mountain refuge is managed by the CAF (French Alpine Club).  A keeper is present from June to September. Here you have the opportunity to get something to eat whilst chatting with a mountain professional or spend a night at high altitude if you prefer. This is a good way to split the itinerary in two.

In 1908, Châtellerat pastoral cabin was hastily built by the community of Valjouffrey. Destroyed several times in avalanches, is still sheltered numerous mountaineers. It was rebuilt in 1921 in a less exposed place and already ideas about a « real » refuge were growing.
