At the cemetery, turn left onto the D135 towards Fabas. 10. At Tané, turn left at the hairpin bend and join the D3 towards Le Plan. 11. At the border with the Ariège, turn right onto the D7G as far as the village of Le Plan. 12. Go through the village and at the exit, cross the bridge to the left and turn left 70m after the bridge. 13. At the end of the Chemin du Comte, turn right onto the D7 as far as the village of Couladère. 14. At the roundabout, take the second exit on the left and then, 200 m further on, turn left again onto the D49. 15. At the end of the road, turn right onto the D49D, then follow signs for Mauran by turning left onto the D62. 16. Turn slightly left towards the centre of the village of Mauran.

Loop starting from the Chemin de Carraou. Starting from the stone bridge over the River Lens, this loop will take you through the heritage and countryside of the village of Cassagne and the surrounding area, as far as the village of Belbèze-en-Comminges.

A 106 kilometer road itinerary designed to help you discover the Garonne river valley from village to village. The easy slopes involved allow family outings or enjoying doing it with friends. This cycling itinerary allows you to go from Cierp-Gaud, in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains, to Carbonne, by following the Garonne River. It's in the Comminges, former Gascony province where the Garonne grows bigger. From being simply a fast stream in the Pyrenees to becoming a branch river and finally a major waterway... Several access points are possible all along this itinerary. Don't miss stopping along the way to see picturesque villages such as Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, Saint-Gaudens or even Saint-Martory.

Lovely loop around the village of Tourtouse

This walk will take you through the pretty little hamlets of Montardit and you'll discover the unusual little chapel of Notre Dame de la Goutte. This curious little chapel, worthy of a surrealist sculptor, was built in 1968 by Abbé Jean-Marie Piquemal and has become a place of pilgrimage during the liturgical feast of Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs on 15 September. The place exudes a kind of peacefulness and quiet strength.

Departing from the small village of Contrazy, this pleasant hike will take you between forest and open views, to contemplate the hills of the foothills topped by the Pyrenean massif. This walk will take you to the highest point in the Volvestre Ariègeois at an altitude of 698 m (signposted). This walk begins on a very pretty path leading up to the ‘old canton of St Girons’. As you follow this boundary, you'll be treated to a beautiful panoramic view of the hilly commune of Montesquieu-Avantès and its farms scattered throughout the landscape. At the end of the forest (marked by a milestone), you will know that you are at the meeting point of three cantons, Le Mas d'Azil to the east, St Girons to the south and Ste Croix to the west, and four communes, Camarade, Montesquieu-Aventès, Contrazy and Mauvezin de Ste Croix. On the way back to Contrazy, just before the village, you'll discover a magnificent view of Lasserre and the Pyrenees, overlooking the church at Montardit. You can also enjoy a view of the fir forest, which in autumn offers a patchwork of colours from the dark green of the firs to the shimmering colours of the broad-leaved trees.

Martres-Tolosane, city of earthenware Never interrupted since the 18th century, the earthenware makers use an ancient firing technique, the "Grand Feu" (firing the piece at a temperature of between 900 and 1000°C). The designs are still traced and painted by hand. The round shape of the village of Martres-Tolosane seems to echo the gentle curves of the surrounding hills and terraces. On the edge of the Pyrenean foothills, only sixty or so kilometres separate the Cité Artiste - Cité Faïencière from the pink city, the fiery Toulouse. Here, the gentle curves of the Garonne undulate, the lively torrent freed from the grip of the mountains and transformed into a beautiful river. Martres-Tolosane is a mysterious kingdom, miraculously preserved. This unique circular bastide is home to a rich heritage: the luxurious Gallo-Roman villa of Chiragan, which has revealed numerous remains, a keep, a church built over an early Christian necropolis (with numerous sarcophagi) and, above all, an earthenware heritage that is unique in France. Today, this continuity is reflected in the presence of several workshops, heirs to this heritage. There's an art to our land!

The town of Martres-Tolosane, a land of art and history, has restored the former presbytery and transformed it into an exhibition hall dedicated to Métiers d'Art and Contemporary Art. This place, steeped in spirituality, hosts a variety of exhibitions that change with the seasons. Since the beginning of the parish registers (in 1670), we know all the priests of Martres-Tolosane who have lived in the presbytery. In a state of disrepair, especially after the Revolution, the commune had to sell the dovecote and stable, located at the end of the magnificent garden, in order to carry out the most urgent repairs. After the Second World War, successive mayors provided some comfort for the priests. In 2014, the town council decided to make the most of this unoccupied building and give it a new lease of life, while preserving its original character. The discovery of half-timbering on an entire façade (under the plaster) has made the Grand Presbytère the jewel of the village. The architects have succeeded in highlighting all these testimonies to the past. The interior has been transformed into an exhibition space, with a glass front overlooking the village square, the church and the Heritage Interpretation Centre. The beautiful old garden has been brought back to life with harmonious planting. The faithfully restored inner courtyard invites visitors to take a step back into the village's past. Well integrated into this medieval landscape, the little rue Louise THÈBE is in harmony with the whole of this fine achievement. The Grand Presbytère opened its doors on 23 May 2015. Its large exhibition rooms are designed to host events throughout the year and promote arts and crafts and contemporary art.

You can discover the village by watching a short 5-minute film presenting the village and its history. Located in the town's historic centre, the exhibition is housed in a 380m2 building that brings together three old houses that have been completely remodelled. It showcases the work of the four Martres earthenware manufacturers and their European partners (Modra and Naval), as well as a collection of old and contemporary earthenware and the work of Martres earthenware manufacturers with various guests of honour at the Salon des Arts et du Feu. A small room is also used for temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

Cazères boasts a beautiful 14th-century church dedicated to Notre-Dame. Its façade is in the "typically Gothic" style of Notre-Dame-du-Taur in Toulouse, with its six-arched portal framed by columns with foliage capitals. Restoration work was undertaken at the end of the 19th century by the architect Hector d'Espouy, who designed the two octagonal towers, between which stands Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, patron saint of the sanctuary. The interior of the church is a fine example of the Southern Gothic style, with a very wide nave and no aisles. It has a rich Jacobean heritage, a treasure trove of sacred art and a chapel. It can be dated to the end of the 15th century, as can be seen from its capitals and keystones. Blaise Binet, magistrate of Rieux-Volvestre, wrote of Cazères in 1764 in his historical description of the diocese of Rieux, "the parish church (which is in the old castle) is the most beautiful and most ornate in the diocese. " The church's Treasure Room houses a treasure trove of sacred art, including a 15th-century wooden Virgin Mary and a beautiful Romanesque baptismal font.
