The originality of this circuit is the eighteenth-century stones displaying the arms of the great landowners of the time.

The Erckmann-Chatrian Regional Trail (GR de Pays) crosses the territories of Sarrebourg and Phalsbourg over a distance of 85 km, between Niderhoff and Oberhof. This route can be completed in 3 to 5 days and leads visitors to discover many cultural and historical sites: Lutzelbourg Castle, the Saint-Louis Arzviller Inclined Plane, the Valley of the Locks, the village of Haselbourg, the Dabo Rock, the Jaegerhof forest lodge, Saint-Léon Cave in Walscheid, the Abreschviller forest train, the archaeological site of Croix-Guillaume, and the village of Saint-Quirin. The trail also passes the birthplaces of André Chatrian and Émile Erckmann.

The climb up the Col du Donon pass is a real sporting challenge! The Tour de France has climbed the pass several times in its history. The climb takes you through a rise in altitude of 1,375 metres.

The hiking trail "des 4 roches" (Four Rocks) is a small walk on the heights of Abreschviller with some climbs and beautiful viewpoints. The four rocks are called : - the "Roche de la Forge" (Rock of the Forge). It dominates the old factory of the Forge - the "Roche du Moulin" (Rock of the Mill). This one is leaning against the communal lodging - the "Roche de la Basse Frentz" ou "Roche des bœufs" (Rock of the Lower Frentz or of the oxen). A legend says that one evening, a group of oxen got lost in the heights of Abreschviller, and ended up falling from the top of the rock. - the Roche de la Verrerie (Rock of the glass factory). It refers to a 16th century factory of which no trace remains. The circular path is 4.3 km long and takes about 1h30 to complete. It is of medium difficulty because of the elevation gain.

The hiking trail of La Valette starts in the center of Abreschviller. It leads the walker to the grave of soldier Petermann. In 1914, Second Lieutenant Robert Petermann was 21 years old and had just graduated from Saint-Cyr (a prestigious French military school). He belonged to the 5th company of the 149th Infantry Regiment. He left a diary in which he reported some of the actions around Abreschviller, until his death in combat on August 21, 1914. The trail crosses the Voyer forest before arriving at La Valette. Its name comes from Latin and means "little valley". The national necropolis of the 1st World War of La Valette gathers the soldiers killed following the battle of Abreschviller, on August 21, 1914. French and German soldiers are buried there. The circular path is 9.4 km long and takes about 3 hours to complete. It is an easy hike.

This pleasant circuit starts in Abreschviller and climbs to the Col de Saint Léon pass along forest paths, returning via a steep descent to the starting point.

This circuit is a godsend for experienced mountain-bikers looking for beautiful landscapes, challenging routes and the exploration of a generous natural environment. The views from the summit of Peugstein towards the Dabo rock, the Donon massif and the Sarre valley are exceptional.

The "Belle Roche" hiking trail starts at a place called "Les Quatre Chemins". It is 3.5 km long and takes about 1 hour to complete, without difficulty. Along the way, you will arrive at the "Belle Roche" where you can get an outstanding point of view on the valley of Saint-Quirin. Finally, you may reach and find out more about the unusual cave of this place. Departure: By car, take the departmental road towards Abreschviller as far as the Col des Deux Croix (signposted "Site de la Croix Guillaume"). In this direction, turn right onto the tarmac forest road (3.5km) as far as Les Quatre Chemins, a place formed by a square from which several forest roads radiate.

There is a rich heritage in Saint-Quirin, one of the "most beautiful villages in France" (French label). Indeed, you may discover seven sanctuaries in Saint Quirin and in the villages nearby, called the Seven Roses (les Septs Roses). The Haute Chapelle (High Chapel), also called "La Rose Rouge" (Red Rose), overhangs the village at the top of the hill. This trail starts at the Church in Saint Quirin, "La Priorale" (also called "Rose d'or", Golden Rose in English). It is 9km long and takes about 3 hours to complete. Difficulty: Medium/Average

This hiking trail will lead you to the Bacelles cave, passing through beautiful beech forests. A bacelle in Lorrain dialect means a young girl. The hike is 9.5 km long and takes about 3 hours to complete. It is of medium difficulty because of the elevation gain.

Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Rich in the Gallo-Roman past of Arlon, the museum houses an impressive collection that bears witness to the daily life of this period.One of the peculiarities of the museum is its imposing and rich lapidary collection, composed of several dozen fragments of ancient funerary monuments.These blocks and the objects from Roman craftsmanship will teach you more about daily life at that time.

Seven sanctuaries called the « Seven Roses » are to be discovered in Saint-Quirin and in the dependent communes of the Priory. Owned by the commune of Métairies-Saint-Quirin, the Notre Dame de l’Hor Chapel (the blue rose) is located at the foot of the road from Saint-Quirin to Lorquin; with an altitude of 310 meters and in a meadow surrounded by the forest.

The Chapelle Ste Claire, one of the "Seven Roses" of St Quirin (the white rose), is located on the departmental road 96f, on the way out of Vasperviller towards St Quirin. A charming little mountain chapel, it was also originally a Celtic sanctuary, Christianised in the 6th century. In 1440, it was a chapel with a hermitage, then in the Middle Ages, a monastery of the Poor Clares, and in the 18th century it became a hermitage again. Restored in 1808, it now hosts the pilgrimage of St Clare, who is invoked for eye diseases.

The church of St Theresa, one of the "Seven Roses" of St Quirin (the Pink Rose) was built in 1968. A double staircase leads to the top of the bell tower and the brightness of the 17 stained glass windows represent the family tree of Christ. Ste Thérèse is a church "like no other" whose beauty and richness are revealed little by little. Each visit is a discovery, so many variations in form, volume, light and colour. Access to the bell tower is only allowed on request for security reasons.

To reach Forge Rock (Roche de la Forge), you may starts at Abreschviller pond. Follow the tiny road in the direction of Vasperviller and after a 5 minutes-walk, leave the road and follow the signs with a red ring, on your left. After that, you may reach Forge Stone. You may enjoy the view on a former chimney: there used to be an industrial forge there, using hydraulic power from the Red Sarre (Sarre Rouge).

15 km from Sarrebourg, on the edge of the great forests dominated by the Donon massif, let yourself be seduced by the picturesque Abreschviller railway! Aboard this authentic forestry train pulled by an old locomotive, you'll enjoy a unique and pleasant journey as you discover the riches of the Sarre Rouge valley. You'll embark for 1? hours of breathtaking nature, before visiting an authentic high-iron sawmill in the hamlet of Grand-Soldat. It's best to book your tickets in advance.

In between Saint-Quirin and Métairies Saint-Quirin, enjoy Neuve Grange Wood, crossed by both GR5 and GR533 hiking trails.There are several 18th Century borderstones in the wood: on each, you may see marks of former powerful owners at the time.

Enjoy Basse Frentz rock while hiking close to Abreschviller pond.

Soldiers who perished during the Battle of Abreschviller on August 21st 1914 are buried in this National Necropolis of World War One. 464 French soldiers (77 unknown victims and 2 ossuaries) and 370 German soldiers (117 unknown victims and 1 ossuary) lay here. After the battle, inhabitants were asked to buried the victims temporarily. After the war, the bodies were identified and buried in the necropolis.

In the Forest of Hesse, between the towns of Brouderdorff and Hartzviller, there is a niche with a statue of Virgin Mary. This statue was erected 50 years ago by Victor Pfeiffer, who had the idea to create a chapel at the Eckwald. In 1965, it was transformed by the people living in Brouderdorff. Despite the fell of many trees near the niche during the storm of December 1999, the statue of Virgin Mary remained miraculously unbroken.

Verrerie's rock is near Abreschviller pond. "Quatre Roches" pathway ("4 rocks" pathway) lays nearby and allows you to discover 4 rocks: La Forge, Le Moulin, Des Boeufs and finallly, La Verrerie. Enjoy the outstanding view on the valley.
