Enjoy A 360° breathtaking view!Go along the Cernon river on the leftside bank in direction of "Linas".At the first bridge cross the stream then turn left. Go along until the second bridge and cross over. The road leads to the beautiful hamlet of Linas.In the village, take the right path of the cross then leave it 100 m further to follow the one on the left that goes along a field. Reach a first crossway and follow up on the opposite path. At the second crossway keep straight ahead and join on the flat part, a larger track to follow on the left.Go through the hamlet of Crayssaguet until the sheepfold and go along to find a soil path. Once arriving opposite a field go back up the left path.Cross the road and get on the track that goes up on the opposite side until the entrance of Luzençon hamlet. Turn left, then immediatly on the right, the road that goes to the summit of the mound (wonderful panorama on the surronding causses and valley;viewpoint indicator).Come back down the typical small streets that leads to Saint-Georges de Luzençon. Outstanding fountain to see on the way.

Discover a pleasant stroll along the Tarn in family!From the parking, foward on the road about 200m, then join the river banks by taking the MTB route on the left side . At the first junction go on the left side of the cross then straight ahead to go along the Tarn river until joining the RD 187.Go along the road on the right about 100 m then fork on the left onto the path that goes up joining the hamlet des Crotes. The path goes along the hills until Paulhe.Reach until the road in a hairpin bend. Take it on the right side about 100 m before turning right towards "rue des Eglantiers". Fork on the right towards "rue de la Forge" then left towards "rue de l'ancienne fontaine" to get back to the departure. Finish your walk by visiting la Maison de la Cerise (the Cherry house) and/or the orchards conservatory to discover different variaties of cherries in the valley.

Variant: only for bike riders and sportspersons: across the submersible bridge, public path.Take the public path of Bastard towards the filtration station.A break is possible under the Viaduct of Millau.Go along the Tarn until “Barque”, this part is only accessible with VTC/MTB, view on the village of Peyre, classify “most beautiful village of France”. Submersible passage!Take the public highway, then turn left to Linas, cross the Cernon river on the left bank by a path.After the bridge on the Cernon river, go on the left to Saint-Georges de Luzençon.In the development section,turn right, cross the bridge and after the bridge on the right , go along the Cernon river, on the left bank by a path.Once in the village of Saint-Georges de Luzençon, cross the RD.

By following the ledges of Larzac, dominating the Tarn valley and Millau, an exceptional meeting with the highest Viaduct of the world.From the site of hang gliding of Brunas, go (West) to the vison area of the Viaduct. Follow an causeway on 500m (seen on the whole Viaduct, panels of interpretation). Continue on 500m up to the highly-rated point 715.Leave the GR71D which makes a commitment to the right towards the ledges of Boundoulaou cirque. Continue quite straight ahead on the path through the plateau du Larzac. In the junction with the tarred road, turn to the right on 300m. At the first ceossing turn right on the road leading to Brouzes and Carbon. Continue to the right on 800m, cross the highway (A75) (Thanks to the Viaduct of Millau, the "Méridienne" (highway A75) is the shortest, the most economic and the most fluid way between Paris and the Mediterranean).Make a junction with the GR which follow to the right the road parallel to A75 leading to Bel Air. Cross under the highway and join the farm (wonderful classified restoration).By-pass the farm and make a commitment to the left on a path through box tree and junipers then reach a source (resurgence) feeding a drinking through.Pursue on a narrow path at the foot of the cliffs then join a uncovered collar. Turn 90° to the right on a very steep dirt path (stiff slope on 400m). Reach the summit of the cliffs. Continue to the left on the plateau by following the ledges.           2. Follow on the left the path borrowed on the                 way out to join the site of Brunas. 

Come and explore the Pedestal of Fontaneilles, a medieval fortress built on a rocky peak, dominating the valley and offering a 360° panorama.Leave the parking and go up to the castle, then follow the path on the right that goes along the ramparts, on 400 m.Get on the path that rises on the left. on 100 m, stay on the path on your right. It goes up in undergrowth, reaches the wooded plateau of the Puech de Fontaneilles and ends up on a forest path.Make a round trip on the right to gain in 300m, the television antenna and enjoy the sight on thr valley of Trébans and the village of Bourg. Retrace your steps and continue straight  ahead on the forest path to arrive at a junction.On the left side, go towards the Pedestral, about 400m. View on the valley of the Tarn, the village of Rivière-sur-Tarn and the hamlet of Caylus perched on the hill on the opposite side. Retrace your steps and come down by taking the forest track in wide laces. Once crossing the gate, go along on 100m and foward on the little path on the left. It leads to Fontaneilles, at a big farm.Get on the left path, 500m after yhe wooden barrier. Keep this track until the road which leads to Col. Follow the signage until the cellars of Entre-deux-Monts.Retrace your steps until finding the path common to an entrance of a field. Follow it until reaching the road of Fontaneilles. Go up on the left and take on right site 200m further to come towards the village.Return on the road and go down until Fontaneilles and cross the village. After the church, take the second street on the left. At the crossing out of stones, follow the path that passes bellow an agricultural shed which continues until Louradou.At the crossing of Louradou, take the path going up to the hamlet of Peyrelade. Take time to discover the castle, a fortress of the 12th century, which the visit allows you to retrace the time of the Lords of Rouergue.

Family walk accessible to all with beautiful viewpoints on the valley and Millau.Drive into the tunnel to pass under the D809 then turn right towards l'école du larzac. After the sign of the school, take the path that goes along on the left side. Go over a first fence , then further on, an other fence and abandon the track on the left. The path goes through oak woods and fields edges in border of the causse (Limestone plateau). Further down on the left, climb until another obstacle. A few meters after, reach the panoramic viewpoint on the top of Millau (View on the Lévézou and the Causse Noir).The path continues in direction of the second promontory on the top of Millau. Caution at the edge of the cliff.           Go over an obstacle and 100 m further, reach an intersection.Make a 10 minutes round-trip to discover the Oppidum of la Granède ruins. Keep on the path at the edge of the plateau an go over the following obstacle.Then go ahead on the leftside, on a small path which travels the plateau in the direction of the D809. Before the ruins of Coulons, fork litely on the left to find a shaded path. Turn left and go along the D809 until the first intersection.Continue on the paved road in paralel with the D809 to get back to the departure.

This pastoral breakaway which takes place on the upper part of Saint-Rome-de-Cernon is very easy to get to and offers to walkers a view over this village located at the crossroads of roads and hilly areas.Starting point and finish of the hike are located at the carpark, which is on the left side when watching the castle. Walk across a small square and right at the first street (rue du château) take left for approximately 40 m. When reaching the fountain, take to the right the D999 for 40 m. Before the petrol station, take right and walk along the church an ascending slope. Keep on going for 100 m       up to the D31, follow this road for 50 m, and then take a tarred track for 300 m. Right at the first tarred hairpin bend to the left, carry straight on the dirt track. The path first goes through a wooded section then leads to a plateau. Take right up to the D31 and walk across the road to the left. Turn immediately to the right on a tarred track towards Puech Ricard. Carry straight on for 800 m, leaving to your right the road that leads to the Cazals farm. 500 m further, look up at the lavogne (a paved pond to water the flock of sheep). Walk for 200 m and leave to your left a stone cross.    200 m further, fork to the right and take a stone path towards St-Rome-de-Cernon. Keep walking up to a steep path overlooking Saint-Rome and enjoy the panoramic view. Walk to the left side of the castle and the “old graveyard”, then follow to the left a cemented path and you're back to the carpark, the starting point of your hike.

According to legend, the mound is referred to as “the tomb of the giant”. The Sargel mound which culminates at 761 m above sea level, offers  breathtaking views  over Lévézou, the causse of the western Larzac and the Merdelou peak.On the Southern part of the car park take the rue de la passade up to the end of the street, then turn left to walk across the D999 road and carry on along the Avenue de la Cavalerie where you cross the bridge up to the other end and turn left before the railway line on a road that leads to the stadium (signpost).600 m further on, Just before this bridge, leave the road and take a trail along the railway.After 500 m, pass under a second bridge to cross the railway which you overlook now alongside your way. Carry on northwards until you catch sight of a small house (formerly a crossing-keeper's house) located below left.From there, turn sharp right and take the path which ascends the ravine. Leave the path to the right and carry straight on. After 700 m, follow the hair pin bend and continue along an old path lined with dry stone walls which leads to the Cave Basse.This path takes you above the swimming pool and turn left between the buildings. Walk along the trail into a “boussière” (a narrow passage defined by two rows of box trees) and join the path coming from the Cave Haute. Take left and just after right. Now, follow the wide trail ascending towards the mound. The slope becomes steeper and follows a series of hair pin bends. After the 6th bend you arrive on the plateau, where you will see a ruined sheepfold on the right. Walk to the left of the fence, and after a wide bend you will reach the calvary where you can enjoy the beautiful landscape of the surrounding plateaus: the Lévézou, Roquesquatre and the Merdélou.To return, retrace your way back to the Cave Basse (4). When you reach the swimming pool, take the left path which descends towards a dilapidated old barn: The Batisse.The path links up with a small tarmacked road. Follow this road up to the railway. Walk under the bridge that was left aside on the way there (2). Retrace your way back to the car park.

The area displays a rich architectural heritage with several castles scattered all along this biking tour. You start from the Fontaine squareAnd then follow the D999 towards Saint-Affrique for 300 m. Now take the second road to your right (D3) and after 600m turn left onto a small road, then cycle along a trail which runs uphill, firstly among plots of land enclosed with low walls, then through woodland. At the bottom of the hill, you can enjoy the view of Laumière castleAnd then ride to your right uphill for 1 km and pass close to a well and a cross.Take the D3 to your right for 50 m, then get on to the trail which slopes up to the left. A beautiful view opens up and on the horizon is the Bouloc relay mast the top of which is over 1000 m above sea level. Bellow, you can see, the castle of the Mas Rougier hidden among oak treesThe route leads to the hamlet of TierguesWhere you can end your tour by taking one of the mountain biking circuits n° 1-2-3 or 4. Circuit n° 12 heads due north and runs under the road via the oviduct (tunnel that allows ewe flocks to cross a road safely), thus reaches the farm of the CaussanelBy a pleasant and shady track. Cycle up the road for approximately 500 m, and then take the trail to your right that follows the crest line up to the D31Cycle across the road cautiously and head towards the farm of des Axous. 1 km further on, take the turning to the right along a trail lined with high oaks and which turns into in a stony path. Cycle downhill along this tricky path which will lead you right below the castle of Saint-Rome de Cernon, and then to the village centre.

This « postman’s round » is unlike any other, matching the vastness of the saint-affrique causse. It goes across the plateau linking two sites steeped in history: the Tiergues dolmen and the old medieval seigneury of Auriac.From the carpark, walk round to the left of the waste reprocessing buildings and go through the tunnel which is under the road. Turn to the right and carry on along the D 250 road.From the dolmen, continue to the West towards Saint Victor until you reach the cross of Baldassé.Head towards the Casse and follow the small tarred road up to the farm. Take a dirt road to the left which is almost parallel to the high voltage power line. Follow this path that runs gently downhill and goes between the undergrowth up to a transformer. Keep going straight on and 500 m further on leave the path that rises to the right. Walk along the base of a field and join the old path linking Saint-Rome-de-Tarn to the Rosière, called "chemin du facteur" (the postman’s path). Carry on between two cultivated fields lined with trees. Leave the Cadenède path that you will see on coming from the left. Keep walking between the undergrowth by following a stony path until you reach the plateau.Start to walk downhill towards Saint-Rome de Tarn. Ford the Lévejac brook, and carry on until you reach road D993 which you cross.Take to the left fork towards the North-West, on the path that overlooks the road. Fork south to drop down towards Saint-Rome de Tarn. Get back on to the D993 which you take to the right. After the hairpin bend, climb the steps to the right leading to a path which rises up to Auriac.  From the highest point of Auriac which provides outstanding scenic views over the Tarn valley, take the "le circuit des pins" (pine circuit) that ascends among the shadbushes and junipers. Once you reach a track suitable for vehicles, follow it and join the TV relay trail.Continue straight ahead up to a small road. Take this road to the right for 100 m and leave it to your left by a recently opened path, then a trail and a tarred road. Ignore the paths that lead to the Axous and Puech Ricard. Instead keep walking until you reach the D 31 road.Take the path opposite that leads to the Caussanel farm. Join the trail which runs parallel to the Fourniou brook. Cross the brook and continue between some undergrowth. At the edge of the undergrowth, cross the rec, and after a hairpin bend, you reach a trail. Follow this trail to the right until you reach the front of the waste sorting centre.                                                                                                                                                              

Bramabiau is one of those grandiose and bizarre works of nature. A veritable cradle of French speleology, the tour is 1 km long and very accessible. Immerse yourself in art and nature at Aigoual! This circuit reveals regularly renewed installations inspired by nature and the landscapes of Mont-Aigoual. A total of 12 works installed on an 8km loop. Les Balcons de l'Aigoual" land-art trail Here, artists portray the human/nature relationship and confront the climatic phenomena of the Aigoual. The works are therefore constantly evolving. Art inserted into nature returns to an essential source of artistic creation: observation and inspiration by nature. This itinerary allows visitors to cross different atmospheres and places, suggesting a sensitive and intimate approach to nature. Typical of the romanic architecture, this castrale chapel was built between the 11th and 12th centuries. It was then opened to all, for weddings or burrials. The chevet, facing the East is a symbol of the resurrection of Christ. The chapel is usually closed, but you may ask for the key at the city hall in Saint-Georges de Luzençon (tel 05 65 58 41 00). 

At the entrance of the Gorges du Tarn, the wine cellars Entre-deux Monts is located above Fontaneilles.The old vaults out of thick flagstones on the slope of the peak of Suège, is a village which offers discoveries.Each family possessed their cellars to preserve and refine the wine. The door facing north side, twoo small vertical openings and the fleurines (a crack in the rock of natural cellars) as in Roquefort, guaranteed a fresh and constant temperature.In these ancient times where only vineyards and some herds enabled the survival of modest peasant economy, the village of cellars was also a place of friendliness wher the fontaneillois meet every sunday.

The Sargels mound, which peaks at 761 m, is residual and was historically part of the Larzac plateau before the surrounding rivers dug their ways through the landscape. It provides a breathtaking view over the Lévézou mounts (snow-capped in winter) to the East, the Larzac foothills to the West and the Merdelou to the South.

Dominating the city of Millau, the Oppidum of la Granède extends on a promontory advance on the aspect North side of the Causse du Larzac.  Fortified and strategic area implanted on the hights at the limit between cauuse and valley, permitted to keep a close watch towards the South on the roads coming from the causse and the trafics and exchanges between the south and the north. The city of Millau contributes with the department at the archeological construction of the Oppidum of la Granède that updated the remains of a christian church and antiques substructures.

At the end of the 19th century, three priest (Abbot Lubac, abbot Cazes and abbot Pineau), undertook colossal project to set up a statue of the Virgin Mary on the Puech de Fontaneilles who can be seen by all the horizons, the Limestone plateau and Lévezou.The construction was not easy. About ten workers got down to it during two years.The villagers voluntarily participated to create an accessible path to transport the necessary materials for the construction of the site.The water of a source discovered at the beginning of the path was collected in barrels and was use for the preparation of mortar. The stone was extracted and cut on the spot.Once the Pedestal finished, it was only waiting on the Statue of the Virgin that was ordered in belgium and never came.Swinle, lies, embezzlement, nobody knows what really happened. 

The Cauuse Noir (Limestone Plateau) established with shaded forests - in which its name - and big spaces, possess many spectacular landscapes, among which, the Chaos of Montpellier-le-vieux and the cave of Dargilan. The Lévézou is known for its lakes and the city of insects Micropolis at Saint Léons. The Viaduct of Millau, inaugurated in 2004, has the world record for hight with a pylone over the valley of 343 meters. Over the water, the descent by canoe on the Dourbie valley is the ideal way to submerge in a wild and authentic landscape.

Built between the 12th and 16th centuries, the Château de Peyrelade constituted one of the most important fortresses in the Rouergue in the Middle Ages, thanks to the position of its natural rock-dungeon that enables it to control the Tarn valley. Today, guided visits enable you to discover the site's turbulent history, its very particular architecture as well as numerous restoration works and digs that have been undertaken in the last 25 years. The visit ends by climbing onto the rock that offers a superb panorama of this section of the valley and the Gorges du Tarn. The municipality of Saint-Rome de Cernon originates from the amalgamation of the former municipality of Montclarat with that of Saint-Rome de Cernon, a process which was carried out in 1840. Ever since prehistoric times, humans have inhabited the Saints-Rome area as evidenced by the Sargels caves and the dolmens situated in the bois de Laumière. Human settlement continued during the Roman and Medieval periods as evidenced by the many remains: the Saint-Rome, Mélac, Montclarat and Laumière castles. Today's village expanded in the late 18th century, during the construction of the road from Albi to the Cévennes, and during the construction of the railway in the 19th century. As a result, the village became a place where important fairs and markets were held and has hosted many prospering trading activities.

Listed as a historical monument, the Tiergues dolmen is part of the 20 or so dolmens which have been recorded in the area, some of them being poorly-preserved. The excavations of these megaliths were carried out by Emile Cartailhac during the 20th century and today their artefacts are scattered throughout Midi- Pyrennées (Rodez, Toulouse…)

The castle is situated 3 km south east of Saint Rome and was rebuilt after the French revolution. Written references to the ancient castle mention the year 1322 when it was occupied by Raymond de Vanco de Banc d'Anglars, and again in the 15th century when it was owned by the Armagnac family. It was then passed on to the Morlhon family, the Vernhet de Grandval family and the Sambucy de Sorgue family. The Laumière seigneury was granted to the Vernhet’s during the 18th century who became Vernhet de Laumière. A general named Vernhet de Laumière distinguished himself on taking command of the Imperial Guard artillery during the Second Empire. He died in Mexico during the 1863 siege of Puebla. During the 19th century, Maria de Sambucy gave the castle as a wedding dowery to the Count of Toulza
