This path allows you to discover a past full of history and magnificent views of the Don Gorge. You will discover the ruins of a castle built in the Middle Ages: legend has it that in the 13th century there lived a very beautiful lady who, abandoned by her knight husband, began to write marvellous poems which made her famous: the Lady of Castel d'Auze. Mountain bike route "From Montsalvy to the Goul Valley”. Starting near the castle built on the ancient ramparts of the medieval village, this itinerary offers the opportunity to discover Montsalvy. This is an accessible and fairly easy route which offers beautiful panoramas, in particular that of the Puy de l'Arbre, which dominates this area from the top of its 830 m. This route will then offer mountain bikers beautiful views of the mountains and valleys, with several forest passages punctuating the route.

The campsite is situated near the Lot river at the border between Cantal and Aveyron. Camping Coursavy is situated on the banks of the Lot, surrounded by wooded hillsides. Thanks to its sheltered location and very low altitude (200 m), the climate is very mild from spring onwards. The campsite has 46 spacious pitches and 4 chalets. All pitches have electricity and a picnic table. It is an ideal starting point for many cycling and walking routes, or for visiting old villages. Visit of the medieval fortress of Vieillevie (11th-13th centuries) in July and August. Storytelling tours (in French): Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5pm. Places are limited, so bookings must be made by text message or e-mail. The castle dominates the Lot Valley from its high towers. It is an authentic defensive fortress: sentry walks, archways, and defensive hoardings. Above the lower rooms carved into the rock, you will discover the large Renaissance rooms with their finely sculpted mullioned windows and their monumental 13th century fireplaces, among the oldest in France.

The museum, processing workshop and activities highlight this emblematic fruit and the heritage of the Châtaigneraie area of Cantal. Immerse yourself in the world of the Maison de la Châtaigne, a living reminder of the chestnut-growing past: a 1950s grocery store, bread oven, chestnut dryer, underground galleries, gardens, tree nursery, and animals... Discover the culture of chestnut trees from yesterday to today and watch chestnut flour being made in our processing workshop. Savour a local specialty, explore the gourmet shop with its wide range of chestnut-based products, and enjoy a moment of relaxation in the coffee corner, overlooking the landscape of the Châtaigneraie Cantalienne. Wooden games, a parent-powered merry-go-round and little discoveries will delight the whole family!

About 30 species of wild orchids are present on these few hectares which gather a quarter of the French flora and more than half of the Auvergne flora in orchids. The climate of the limestone mounds (former lake basin) located between Saint-Santin-de-Maurs and Montmurat is one of the mildest and driest in Cantal. These conditions give the landscapes, agriculture and natural environments a pronounced southern character. Free access on foot from the village of Saint-Santin-de-Maurs. The animal and plant species living on this Natura 2000 site are protected, so be careful.

Sénezergues is located South of the natural region of Veinazès, in the Southern part of the Châtaigneraie. The village above the Auze river is connected to two important hiking paths, crossing the diversity of the Châtaigneraie landscapes.

Christophe's inventive cuisine combines the flavours of Auvergne with those of the Mediterranean. Meals are served on a beautiful terrace shaded by an octogenarian wisteria with a view of the swimming pool and the River Lot or in the restaurant room. Innovative cooking with flavors of Auvergne and the Mediteranean. Open from mid-April to early November. In July and August, closed on Monday all day and Tuesday lunchtime. Out of season, closed Sunday evening, Monday and Tuesday.

The Auberge des Voyageurs offers traditional home-cooked cuisine made with local produce, as well as five guest rooms.

L'Auberge de Mourjou, with its restaurant and guest rooms, has been open since 18 March 2024. Daily menu (€19,90) from Monday 12pm to Friday 2pm. Chef Kara Asatryan's menu (€39) is available for lunch and dinner on Saturdays and lunch on Sundays. Booking recommended. The chef's menu consists of a choice of two starters, a choice of two main courses and a choice of two desserts. The menu changes every 2 weeks according to the season and her inspiration. You can also make the most of our shaded terrace in fine weather.

L’Auberge Fleurie is a charming Cantal stopover in the area of the River Lot and the River Truyère, at an altitude of 800 m. A good fairy seems to have bent over this inn, which offers an enthusiastic table where terroir and modernity go hand in hand! The inn also has a remarkable wine cellar.
