The real link between the three abbeys, the "Green Trail" or "Abbey Road"follows the old railway line which at one time connected Étival and Senones. This trail il 6 miles long and is safe and level. There are 10 information signs which tell you the history of the place: the abbeys of course and the industrial era, the Principality of Salm-Salm and the skills which bear witness to a rare and prestigious past. Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Rich in the Gallo-Roman past of Arlon, the museum houses an impressive collection that bears witness to the daily life of this period.One of the peculiarities of the museum is its imposing and rich lapidary collection, composed of several dozen fragments of ancient funerary monuments.These blocks and the objects from Roman craftsmanship will teach you more about daily life at that time.

"On the 3 abbeys road in Etival, the Roman abbey rises in all its beauty on the banks of the Valdange river. When it became an important abbey of the Prémontré Order in 1147, Etival had already crossed the paths of important figures like Saint Odile or Saint-Richarde, Empress and queen of France. Having crossed the threshold of the 18th century facade, you will be surprised to discover a beautiful roman abbey church, enriched by architectural evolution throughout the centuries: roman columns, gothic choir, choir stalls from the 18th century, cloister garden and fortifications... Etival Abbey is open all year from 10:00 to 17:00 "

This chapel situated in the Clairefontaine forest was built in the middle of the 19th century and is a place of pilgrimage on the 15th of August. It was dedicated to the Madonna.

"On the 3 Abbeys road, beside the Rabodeau river, stands the majestic and elegant baroque church of Moyenmoutier. Founded in 671 by Saint Hydulphe, this middle monastery has hosted the learned elite of the Benedictine order several times in its history. The elegant simplicity of its church, which has the dimensions of a cathedral, contrasts with its exceptional furniture, in particular the organ and 17th century choir stalls. The Abbey of Moyenmoutier is open daily throughout the year from 10:00 to 17:00 (closed occasionally from 12:00 to 14:00). "

Those elements of our heritage are often ignored however they are an integral part of our culture and everyday life. Crosses, calvaries, crucifixes and chapels stand as testament of our history and will catch your attention along the ways! Many of them have disappeared or have suffered damage but the majority of them dates from the 16th. A cultural and interesting walk is waiting for you!

This building adjoined the old fortifications and was also appended to Les Halles café. The aforesaid café has been destroyed and the building has been completely burnt. It has been rebuilt in the twenties. The ground floor has become a covered market and the 1st floor has become a theatre. The VIP room and the staircase (decorative ironwork of Arts College in Nancy) have replaced the old café. Nowadays, the theatre is also a cinema and welcomes renowned plays and concerts.

Fountains are one of the characteristics of the town and worth the trip for a more detailed visit. The embellishing of the environment began in the 19th century when the standard of living was high: the abundance and the purity of water and high incomes were the reasons why those fountains have been built. Instead of simple drinking troughs, masterpieces have been built! Since 1860, the town is covered of fountains made of cast iron from Haute Marne. There are 12 fountains in total including 11 which are in the Monument Historique classification. Their style is inspired by the Greco-Latin mythology and its allegories: 5 Diana, Minerva, Concordia, Automne, Bonheur are in the best classical tradition. The impressive fountain of the four lions with the appearance of griffins is the leading fountain and the emblem of Raon l’Etape. Guided visits are organised all year long for groups (reservation required) and every Wednesday in summertime.

The city council used to get together in a market building in the middle of Raon l’Etape. This place that used to be a covered market was in poor condition, the administration of François Dubois decided to demolish it in order to build a new one. The aim was to build a town hall with a covered market in the basement and a granary for a grain shop upstairs. Its VIP room shelters a unique collection of 12 paintings which represents old Raon and recounts the forestry logging and log driving in the 18th century.

This church was formerly appended to the town hall. It has been built at his current place in 1832. In keeping with the original, his colonnades are the cause of his nickname “Petite Madeleine”. The tower has been erected above the choir because of the swampy ground.

This building which is situated in the forest between Moyenmoutier and Senones, is the vestige of a 7th century priory which was found by a disciple of Saint-Hydulphe. The chapel was renovated and expanded in1921 by Abbot Varenne.
