You will walk in the footsteps of our ancestors who left us menhirs and dolmens, including the menhir of Ceinturat, classified as a Historic Monument, it is the highest in the Haute-Vienne!

The Glane circuit is a hiking route of medium difficulty and lasts 3h30 for 14.5 km. The hiker will visit the town of Oradour-sur-Glane (new church and statue of Fenosa) and its infamous martyred village. Take the time to enter the Centre de la Mémoire (allow 1.5 hours in addition to the hike) so as not to forget these historical facts known throughout the world. You will walk along the Glane river, which is a tributary of the Vienne river, and take paths between hedgerows, mills and forests to discover small villages and hamlets such as Cros or Mas du Puy. There is a variant of 9.6 km and a duration of 2 h 30.

This stage of the Monts de Blond GRP follows the southern plateau that borders the Monts de Blond. The landscape alternates between undergrowth and the Limousin countryside. Many points of view are offered to you on the mounts of Blond.

Javerdat is located south of the Monts de Blond, 10 minutes from Saint-Junien and close to Oradour-sur-Glane. The first written mention of Javerdat dates back to 1316. In addition to the megaliths that can be seen along the way, such as the Rouffignac dolmen and the Herses menhir, the town's 12th-century church hides some real treasures, including 15th-century altarpieces, the reliquary busts of Saint Jean and Saint Blaise, a superb Stations of the Cross and the phallic-shaped cippe. While breathing in the fresh country air, you can enjoy wonderful walks or mountain bike rides on the signposted trails, and follow the "tree and bee" interpretation trail to the apiary (map available from the town hall).

The Chouette Blanche farm nestles in the commune of Javerdat. This farm offers cereal products, thanks to their organic cereal crops. Bread, cookies, pizza dough... To tempt you with these local products, there are several points of sale: directly at the farm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the Epicerie d'Oradour (Oradour-sur-Glane), Ferme de la Pensée Sauvage (Saint-Brice), Ferme du Moulin de Rousset (Vaulry), Jardin de Pagnac (Verneuil) or between the SPOT bulk truck 87 (itinerant).

The Saint-Martin church marks the end of the construction of Nouvel Oradour in 1953. Located at the entrance to the village, on the main avenue, it is the town's most important landmark. A link between past and present, it is designed to be seen from afar. Constructed in concrete, it reflects the symbolism of the commemorative monument. It is composed of simple volumes: a slender bell tower and a square plan. Not to be missed: the statue of Saint-Victurnien and the stained-glass windows depicting the Beatitudes, created by the Chigot workshop in Limoges.

To the south of Fromental pond, off the D204, a path leads to Rochers des Fées and Pas de la Mule. Recent excavations have uncovered remains and structures attesting to the shelter's long occupation during prehistory (from 10,000 to 1800 BC, i.e. from the Final Magdalenian to the Bronze Age). Many legends are told by the locals, and the shelter is said to be the ruins of the ancient palace of the fairies. Below, the stream cascades through a spectacular granite scree, where you can find the famous carp-head rock

Oradour-sur-Glane, once a peaceful and prosperous village in the Limousin region, became part of history on June 10, 1944. On that day, 200 soldiers of the Das Reich division surrounded Oradour and rounded up the population. All were killed and burned, claiming 643 innocent victims. Only 6 people escaped the massacre and were able to testify. The ruins of the martyred village still bear witness to the atrocious barbarity. The Centre de la Mémoire, with its exhibition rooms, invites us to reflect. Construction of the new village was completed in 1953. Today, Oradour is a bustling rural center, with shops and associations bringing life to the village. A triptych is available from the Tourist Office to find out more about this reconstruction, as well as a Terra Aventura trail.

Dating from the Neolithic period, it is the largest menhir in Haute-Vienne. Over 5 metres high, it is buried 2 metres below ground. According to legend, whoever manages to throw a stone onto the ledge halfway up the menhir is guaranteed to get married within the year!

Fancy a basket of seasonal vegetables, aromatic and medicinal plants, or red fruit, all certified organic? Julie and Christophe, daughter and father, meet you at the farm on Mondays and Thursdays from 5pm to 7:30pm, and at the Saint-Junien market on Saturday mornings. During the summer, the Centre de la Mémoire offers guided tours of the martyred village of Oradour-sur-Glane, in addition to the visit to the permanent and temporary exhibitions at the Centre de la Mémoire. Tours can be booked in advance, but it is advisable to arrive at least 15 minutes before the tour.

The Centre de la Mémoire presents a historical and documentary exhibition on the massacre of the inhabitants on June 10, 1944, by a unit of the SS Das Reich division in the context of the Second World War. Its aim is to bear witness, inform and provoke reflection. It is a plea for peace between peoples. The events of June 10, 1944: the population of the Limousin village of Oradour-sur-Glane was massacred by a troop of around 200 SS waffen. Preserved as it is today, the site bears witness to the Nazi atrocities and the need for remembrance, as a tribute to the 643 victims of this despicable crime. During the April vacation and July-August, guided tours are offered daily at 2:30pm (no reservations required). Pets not accepted (pet-sitting facilities nearby: Yakari Services Animaux, Les Petites Personnes, Pension du Biker à 4 pattes).
