Le sentier de la perrière

(Inscrit Monument Historique) A 300 m après le carrefour de la route de Cieux, emprunter à droite un chemin de terre carrossable pendant 250 m. Le menhir (fléché) se trouve dans un petit bois à l’angle de deux chemins. Ce monolithe était depuis longtemps couché à terre et brisé. Comme d’autres mégalithes, il a été redressé en 1985 par la Circonscription des Antiquités Préhistoriques. Sa hauteur totale est de 5,30 m.

Cippe en forme de phallus. Près de l'église, il devait signaler aux passants le lieu de sépulture ou alors il était érigé au-dessus d'un coffre funéraire.

Javerdat is located south of the Monts de Blond, 10 minutes from Saint-Junien and close to Oradour-sur-Glane. The first written mention of Javerdat dates back to 1316. In addition to the megaliths that can be seen along the way, such as the Rouffignac dolmen and the Herses menhir, the town's 12th-century church hides some real treasures, including 15th-century altarpieces, the reliquary busts of Saint Jean and Saint Blaise, a superb Stations of the Cross and the phallic-shaped cippe. While breathing in the fresh country air, you can enjoy wonderful walks or mountain bike rides on the signposted trails, and follow the "tree and bee" interpretation trail to the apiary (map available from the town hall).

The Centre de la Mémoire presents a historical and documentary exhibition on the massacre of the inhabitants on June 10, 1944, by a unit of the SS Das Reich division in the context of the Second World War. Its aim is to bear witness, inform and provoke reflection. It is a plea for peace between peoples. The events of June 10, 1944: the population of the Limousin village of Oradour-sur-Glane was massacred by a troop of around 200 SS waffen. Preserved as it is today, the site bears witness to the Nazi atrocities and the need for remembrance, as a tribute to the 643 victims of this despicable crime. During the April vacation and July-August, guided tours are offered daily at 2:30pm (no reservations required).
