A young river from a geological point of view, the Leyre carries sand which accumulates in the meanders. Canoeing offers a chance to discover this rich and fragile natural area. Here we propose a route from Saugnacq-et-Muret to Salles via Belin-Beliet. The regulation imposes to all the practitioners to know how to swim before leaving to navigate in canoe. This activity is offered to children who swim, accompanied by their parents, from 6 years old. A great and beautiful day, rather for an initiated profile. The itinerary goes to meet the natural heritage of the Haute Lande and its natural wealth. This loop around the lake will allow you to discover the magnificent 350-hectare Dupertout estate. They produce paving stones and ceramic tiles but also this famous resin pot called "Hugues pot" And on the way to the bakers, the family bakery "Le fournil d'Albert" is the witness of another time. Patrick Bordessoules and his sister, Corinne, have reopened the bakery in memory of their grandfather, keeping the old-fashioned method.

Le Barp is located on the route des Grandes Landes linking Bordeaux to Spain. It is crossed by the Itinerary of the King's horse mail network in the 16th century and on the route of the Roman road known as "Camin Roumieu" which designated in patois "the road" linking Bordeaux to Dax. A stopover on the road to Santiago de Compostela since the 11th century, the village developed around the Relais Hospitalier and the Priory. It is an important post office on the Spanish road which crosses the parish from north to south: it is the fourth station of the horse post after Gradignan. The commune has interesting and typical heritage elements of the Haute Lande Girondine such as barns ? the Landes barn located in the village of Peilhe, a sheep pen in Barat-Neou, a tradition of ceramics with the Grés de Gascogne in the Haureuils district.

This very simple Gothic chapel, dedicated to Saint Catherine, is located in the Rétis district of Hostens, on one of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. The shape of the façade is that of a simple bell-tower-wall above which the old bell was housed, protected by a double wooden bellringer's shelter.

The Domaine Départemental de Sports et de Loisirs Gérard Lagors in Hostens is a 600-hectare estate equipped for exploration of the natural milieu and for a range of outdoor leisure activities (including mountain biking, canoeing, archery, climbing, tennis and bathing). The beach is supervised from June to September. The estate also offers visitors a chance to try their hand at its “Escalad’arbres” – a mixed, removable forest trail made up of ropes and cables. The water from La Fontaine Saint-Clair, near the church of Saint-Pierre de Mons, is known to cure eye diseases.

Mons and its church occupy a special place in the region, located on an ancient north-south road leading to Spain (ancient road then pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela). Ancient texts tell us that Roland de Roncesvalles' companions were buried there. A priory was installed there which was reformed in 1497. He controlled a large part of the Middle Leyre and its catchment area as far as Hostens. Texts dating from the end of the 15th century (royalties) give us information about their homes and what they cultivated. The 11th century church, originally with its defensive tower, dates from the late 15th century and reflects the defensive concerns raised by the 100-year war.

Ferme des Bleuets is primarily a sensory experience. Behind the Ferme des Bleuets is... Annie, a biologist by training, specializing in plant ecology. Annie is fully committed to the ecotourism approach of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park. The Bleuets farm has never used pesticides or other chemical products. The produce is organically grown and cleared by hand. This agroforestry farm grows berries and potted plants, as well as medicinal and aromatic plants. Annie is fully committed to an eco-responsible approach, since she complies with the specifications of organic farming, and the cultivation of her plants with their "wild" flavor is integrated into the local natural environment.

The church of the former commune of Biganon, now part of Moustey, was built in the 11th century of small rubble stone. Its chevet, composed of two absidioles clearly separated from the central apse, is unique in the Haute-Lande region. An un-vaulted transept and single nave complete the Romanesque edifice, while the present wall-belfry only dates from the 15th century. Wall paintings dating from the 14th to 17th centuries were discovered in 1982 in the apse and south absidiole. Listed on the I.S.M.H. by decree of January 17, 1997.

The Leyre River takes its source near Luglon in the Moor, crosses the Moor plateau and flows into the Arcachon Bay. A vault of foliage overlooks the river, sometimes opening onto the sky. The valleys of the Leyre, composed of the Grande-Leyre (commonly called "Rivière sauvage" in France), the Petite-Leyre and the Eyre, are rare environments in Europe, where otters, European mink and European pond turtle survive. This area is ideal for walks and canoeing.
