Les vallées de la Leyre

confluence-des-deux-LeyresFredGilbert-2
Credit : Parc naturel régional des Landes de Gascogne

Description

The Leyre River takes its source near Luglon in the Moor, crosses the Moor plateau and flows into the Arcachon Bay. A vault of foliage overlooks the river, sometimes opening onto the sky. The valleys of the Leyre, composed of the Grande-Leyre (commonly called "Rivière sauvage" in France), the Petite-Leyre and the Eyre, are rare environments in Europe, where otters, European mink and European pond turtle survive. This area is ideal for walks and canoeing.
