A very nice (very) hilly road bike route, which crosses the wild Dordogne valley several times, notably via the impressive Chastang dam. The route starts from the small village of Espagnac, then follows the Doustre gorges, with superb views of La Roche-Basse. It then crosses the Dordogne at the Barrage du Chastang, before climbing to the village of Servières-le-Château (Côte de Servières). After a flatter section to Auriac, a steep descent leads to the Pont du Chambon, a cast iron suspension bridge. A 5km climb (Côte des Charbonniers) brings you back to the plateau before finishing the last 20km more quietly...

Pandrignes has a charming little village dominated by its church, a conservatory orchard where pear trees, apple trees, cherry trees, plum trees and chestnut trees are waiting for you ... you will walk on the traces of an old railway with its old station, its traditional stone bridges and will see the charming private castles of La Rochette and Puy de Val ..

To the east of the village, situated between two valleys, where this circuit winds its way, the plateau is cut by the Rondelle stream, which receives the Argeassou before joining the Saint-Bonnette, (also called locally Avalouze!)... Wooded slopes, grassy bottoms, the villages stretch out over the long peaks. A low dry stone wall will lead you to a pretty 12th century church with a traditional bell tower. Opposite it, a 14th century limestone cross presents several finely chiselled scenes.

Starting from the church, you will see the beautifully restored village weighing scale and will cross several small hamlets including Saint-Agnol, in the heart of a grassy valley offering superb panoramas.

Part of a typical Corrézienne farmhouse, it was built by my great-grandfather in 1892, Antoine Mazuel, a cabinetmaker whose initials are engraved above the front door. It's a family home, where I lived with my parents and two brothers until the age of 25. You may have the chance to meet Alice when she visits her animals in the meadow below the house. It's best not to go into the meadow when the cows are there. They don't know you and would be frightened. As you stroll along the paths, Espagnac reveals its rich past around the restored and illuminated 15th-century church. Inside, discover the shrine, polychrome wooden statues and trompe l'oeil murals. Its forecourt hosts a village market every Saturday evening in summer, as well as a Christmas market for the festive season. Don't miss the Gare du Tacot, a tribute to the old metric railway line that linked Tulle to Ussel. During the summer, you can discover its history at an exhibition.

It has had several patron saints. Today, it is dedicated to St. Madeleine. Parts of the church are very old parts of the church, notably the barrel vaults, which date its construction to between 1150 and 1220. It features modillions in the purest Romanesque style, with human and animal heads, including the devil. The walls feature 2 types of stone, easily distinguishable (for example, in the porch): the pink stones are those of the former building, which burned down during the Wars of Religion (second half of the 16th century, particularly around 1590 with the fratricidal struggles between the League and Protestants). Before 1827, the church had a bell tower-wall with a campanile of four bells, typical of the region. The building was restored in the 17th and 19th centuries, as it was in danger of collapsing.
