Discover Fosses-la-Ville, Namur: an Authentic Getaway

On your walk, you will see chapels, potteries and some typical farms. You can also admire a double beech tree, whose trunk exceeds five metres in circumference.  You will pass by the Bambois Lake, which you can visit after your walk if you wish.  It is an easy walk with views of the villages of Bambois and Maison Saint-Gérard. The route is half country, half woodland. 

Sambreville Tourisme offers two walks in Arsimont, one 4.5 km long and the other 8.3 km long. This long route will take you through the village of Arsimont along trails and through the woods. You'll pass through its town center, country roads, the Harzée Forest, and along the railway line.

This mushroom walk takes you on a journey of discovery through exceptional natural surroundings and a unique heritage. Proud of its industrial past which has greatly contributed to its development, the village of Franière also affirms its attachment to the Sambre and its natural setting tinged with quality built heritage.

A town sometimes overlooked when it comes to walking, the surprising Ham-sur-Sambre nevertheless has much to offer. Between a former coal mine, an unusual place of worship, and lush nature, discover a village full of contrasts. Path conditions: village roads and trails. Potentially muddy in places.

This picturesque walk will reveal the hidden treasures of the village of Lesve. The church (1760-1763) has a Calvary, a polychrome wooden statue from the 16th century. You can see a reproduction of this work in the small chapel located in the cemetery below the church. In this oldest part of the village, there is a concentration of remarkable architectural evidence. At the bottom of the rue Jules Demeuse, the so-called "Château" is a magnificent 18th century manor house with park, gardens and orangery. Just below, the imposing 17th century El Vau farmhouse has been beautifully restored for residential use. Opposite, an imposing building that once housed a sawmill has undergone the same fate. A little further on, the impressive castle known as "La Bouverie", once the seat of the Lords of Lesve, has been transformed into a farm. Its crenellated tower bears witness to the original defensive purpose of the structure. After this journey through time, we will walk through a rural landscape in the middle of the fields before going up the "Fonds de Vaux", a real dry valley that reminds us that we are in a territory shaped by water. This is the land of underground rivers, chantoirs and nutons....

Short village walk in the Lesves basin that winds through the high points of the village from where you have nice views, with a slight difference in altitude. This route is almost entirely paved, ideal during the winter season when rainy weather makes the paths very muddy and impassable. If you feel hungry after the walk, stop at Lesve Ta Frite, one of the best French fry shops in Wallonia, or at Les Glaces de Patricia, to taste homemade ice cream made from the milk of the cows next door.

  The church of Saint-Feuillen was built on the site of a Merovingian sanctuary dedicated to St Peter and two successive Carolingian buildings. In 1086, the eastern section of the chancel was built, as was a crypt. Of these earlier buildings, only the Ottonian front section and the transept still survive. The naves and their chapels were rebuilt between 1721 and 1723. The front section of the church, dating from the end of the 10th century, is flanked by two stair turrets topped by a powerful Romanesque tower and limestone blocks. It is made up of four levels and was topped by a Baroque spire at the beginning of the 18th century. The nave, in brick and bluestone, is flanked by side aisles in limestone blocks, adjoining two chapels with brick gables. The spans are barrel vaulted and stuccoed, with joist arches decorated with classic motifs. The prominent transept was half levelled in the 18th century and is one of the remnants preserved from the earlier buildings (Carolingian and Romanesque). The chancel has five bays with groined vaulting. It adjoins an axial chapel with three bays dating from 1655 and is above the 19th century crypt. Some of the outstanding pieces among the furnishings include the Baroque high altar, the 16th-century stalls and Romanesque baptismal fonts. Listed: 24-11-1941 (with the exception of the organ) Exceptional heritage site of Wallonia

During your walks in the communal woods (entrance via Rue de la Montagne, in Falisolle), you may notice a strange hole in the rock. It's an old mine gallery dating back to the end of the 18th century.However, legend offers another explanation. This hole was once inhabited by Nutons, those strange little creatures that lived in our region. Somewhere between dwarves and elves, they lived in groups, away from humans, in caves. In exchange for food, they helped the villagers by repairing objects or cultivating the land. However, they had to be treated with respect, as their anger was terrible.

Be curious and take the path that climbs to the Calvary, this curious little chapel that protects the village from epidemics. The view of Falisolle and the surrounding area is very pretty!
