This heritage circuit tells you the story of the old days by taking you around the streets of the village. The sculpted stone of a house, a washhouse with beautiful stone barriers, a Japanese garden path that leads to the fountain - each tells its story to those who take the time to discover this circuit rich in heritage.

This family itinerary will allow young and old alike to enjoy a beautiful bike ride, punctuated by moments of contact with animals as they discover an educational goat farm and a beautiful zoo. This will motivate them to go all the way, while allowing for moments of rest and sharing with the family.

Through the green hills, this second stage (used since the 12th century), approaches the Ossau valley. From the village of Sainte-Colome, with its remarkable architectural heritage, to the enigmatic dolmen of Buzy, you will walk along the moraine ridges shaped by the glaciers that covered the region in the Quaternary period. So many points of view to discover between mountains and valleys.

This walk in Asson in the Pays de Nay, between Bearn and Bigorre, leads you round an ancient agro-pastoral community. It occupied a strategic position at the crossroads of transhumance between mountain and lowland, at the frontier between Bearn and Bigorre and also on the Piedmont route towards Santiago. This walk starts in the present-day village of Asson at the “Castet Nau”, the new castle. It goes back through history, telling us about the life of yesteryear. It leads us to the top of the “Castet Bielh”, the old castle where you overlook the lowland and can enjoy a panoramic view of the Pyrenees.

Lys is a small village in the heart of the Ossalois piedmont. Its name comes from the Gascon word "lo lis" which means flat land. This family route, ideal for a sunny half-day, leads from the village to the hills above. It offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding foothills and the first foothills of the Ossau valley.

This walk around Arthez d’Asson in the Pays de Nay, at the gateway to the mountains, will lead you through an undulating countryside scattered with farms. The village with houses huddled together, with a neighbourhood near the water, born from the activity of the old forge.

If you like adventurous hikes, on a wild mountain with major changes in height and a varying landscape, this itinerary is perfect for you. After an ascent through forests, ferny areas and clearings you will reach the high altitude pastures that lead to the summit of Merdanson, an exceptional panoramic viewpoint. On the mountain, from the hills to the summits, we cross different types of vegetation depending on the elevation and whether you are on the flat or a slope. On the northern slope of the Pyrenees, up to 900m ( 2952.76ft.), we find hills, meadows and leafy forests. From 900 to 1700m ( 2952.76 to 5577.43 ft.), at the mountain level, are the beech and fir forest. Above the forest is the start of the subalpine and alpine levels, which comprise heathlands and summer pastures. Higher, around 2300m ( 7545.93ft.), at the snow level, there are only rocks and snow.

A sporting circuit that rolls along nicely, with a continuous combination of climbs on tracks or small roads and slightly more technical descents on paths. It also offers lovely views of the hills and the countryside beyond Coarraze, on the outskirts of Bigorre.

On the left bank of the Gave de Pau, saddle up for a gentle visit to the Nay plain. The bastide of this city steeped in history is the starting point for a walk along the water of the Gave; it follows the route of the Véloroute du Piémont Pyrénéen (V81) and also crosses the network of irrigation canals. The latter ensure the water supply of the fertile lands and the movement of the millstones of the mills which, like their miller, are today asleep.

The voie du piémont passes through the heart of the Béarnaise village of Mifaget, towards the Way of St. James. Mifaget church is right on this route. Built by Gaston IV in 1114, it is dedicated to St Michael, archangel protector of pilgrims. Its originality lies in its crypt that has a calotte dome dug under the apse. It can be visited free of charge and can be accompanied by audio commentary inside.

Bruges was built in 1357 at the foot of the Pyrenees by Bertrand Pujols (Viscount of Foix-Béarn). Its name comes from the Flemish city where G. Fébus stayed the same year. It includes: Simple and homogeneous architecture reflecting that of the houses of the Pyrenean foothills, a square with covered walkways, decorative lintels carved in stone attesting to the village's prosperity in the 19th century. The portal of the 16th century church, is registered as a Historic Monument. Remains from the 14th century: the bell tower and stairway tower. It has three green spaces, the "Padöens", that were formerly used as a grazing area for pigs, a private 16th century mill.

In the heart of the Ouzoum Valley, the hill of Ermitage d'Asson was once called "oppidum". This term means a highly fortified site that probably dates from the Iron Age and was transformed in the Middle Ages. At this time, this castle had moats, defence embankments and a central street that we can still make out today. One of the marked hiking trails in the Nay Region, called "a millenium pastoral community ", passes exactly through there; it is the culmination of this marked trail.

Built in 1930 to relaunch the mining of iron in Baburet, the footbridge was a key component of the railroad that linked the mine with the train station of Coarraze-Nay. From the 16th to the 19th century, the Baburet iron deposits supplied many forges in the Pays de Nay and the valley of Ossau. The closure of the forges in 1866 led to the shutting down of the mine. In 1930, to meet the needs of new factories all over France, the mine reopened and the railroad was built. After the final closure of the mine in 1962, the railtrack was dismantled. The renovated footbridge now plays a part in the new era of low environmental impact travel.

Located in Sévignacq-Meyracq, 27 kms from Pau and 15 kms from Laruns, the Lanouté farm is specialized in the breeding of 400 Basque-Béarnaise ewes and 12 Alpine brown dairy cows All the milk is produced on the farm and transformed into farm cheese made from pure ewe's milk, cow's milk, mixed milk and greuil. They have won several prizes at the departmental competitions in Oloron, Laruns and at the Concours Agricole de Paris: bronze medal in 2018 and silver in 2019. Every year they go to the mountain pastures; in summer, they sell their products in their shop at the Col du Pourtalet. Visits are possible by appointment from November to May.

Located in the walled town of Bruges' main square, dating from the 12th century, at the foot of the Pyrenees, the "Café du Commerce" is open every day, year-round. Situated on the way of Compostelle GR 78, the establishment is well known by pilgrims, who have a break in their journey there.
