GR® 223 Littoral de la Normandie - de Honfleur à Carentan

GR® 223 Littoral de la Normandie - de Honfleur à Carentan

Discover the Normandy coastline on this 194-kilometer walking itinerary from Honfleur in Calvados to Carentan in La Manche. Enjoy superb views of the Belle Epoque seaside villas of Trouville sur Mer, Houlgate, Hermanville sur Mer, Saint Aubin sur Mer... or tread the famous Deauville boards, not forgetting sensitive natural areas such as the Bois du Breuil near Honfleur's famous harbour, or the Falaises des Roches noires in Villerville. Nature discoveries, such as in the Bay of Orne or near Carentan, will delight you with the diversity of their flora and fauna. Little egrets here, grebes there or viperine and obione. There's something for everyone in Calvados, whether you're a lover of architecture, nature or the sea... not forgetting the gastronomy for which the region is renowned: oysters, scallops, cheeses or cider-based drinks, depending on the season and to be enjoyed in moderation, the hike isn't over... If you're tempted, why not take the topoguide with you, where you'll find expert advice from the volunteers of the Comités départementaux de Randonnée Pédestre (departmental hiking committees), for a safe hike, as well as tourist information. The tourist offices are always on hand to help you prepare your stopovers, and to encourage you to follow this itinerary. On this page, you'll find the GPX tracks to help you on your way: the complete track, as well as its variants and off-GR® tracks, ensuring continuity of the itinerary at high tide. You should check the tide times on the stretches along the beaches. Some sections can only be walked at low tide, as there are no protective dykes at the top of the beach. At high tide, the sea is at its highest level: depending on the tidal coefficient, it can cover the upper beach, making passage impossible. As a general rule, you shouldn't set foot on a beach for 2 hours before or after high tide, and this time should be increased during high tides. In this case, you should use the off-peak GR® or alternative routes. Please check tide times and coefficients (www.maree.shom.fr). This hiking route is a continuation of the GR® 21, which starts in Le Tréport and runs to Le Havre in the Seine-Maritime region. The Pont de Normandie can be crossed by bus to reach Honfleur, the starting point of GR® 223. All you need to do is get ready: comfortable rucksack, tried-and-tested walking shoes, water bottle, supplies... and off you go along the Calvados coastline! La Doucelle, Chambres et table d'hôtes

Welcome to the aptly named Doucelle ... Our Relais de charme, Maison d'hôtes & de cultures is nestled in a pretty little village in the heart of the Normandie Maine Regional Nature Park, on the Mayenne/Orne border, a 2? hour drive from Paris West, and 1 hour from Caen/Laval/Le Mans. Surrounded by forests and hedged farmland, this former presbytery has been lovingly restored by a couple with a passion for music, nature, encounters and the arts, and offers 5 beautiful rooms for rent (from 14 to 38m2, including a family suite), each bearing the name and atmosphere of a cult song from France's heritage. The house, designed as an invitation to relax, contemplate and reconnect with nature and the senses, boasts a number of comfortable areas (large lounges, dining room, cosy fireplace and armchairs, contemporary art, sound therapy room), a terrace overlooking the magnificent 5,000m2 landscaped park (with many trees and a small pond), a large 500m2 vegetable garden with its vegetables and plants (which we use for our table d'hôtes, in addition to a fine selection of gourmet products from the surrounding area for healthy, authentic cuisine). Initiate yourself to sonotherapy, in sound travel mode, and enjoy our massages, to relax in a different way, our hammocks, deckchairs, table tennis table, our many board games (classic and more exotic), or the bowls and tennis courts adjacent to the house. Come and take part in our courses (naturopathy, art therapy, forest therapy...), and let go. Privatise La Doucelle and create a friendly, authentic setting for your corporate events (team building, seminars, conference meetings) or celebrations (birthdays, weddings). To respect the environment and the slow philosophy, La Doucelle attaches great importance to minimising its carbon footprint, and pays particular attention to its energy consumption (geothermal energy), waste management (composting, sorting, zero waste), re-use & recycling (vintage furniture, repairs, wabi sabi), and product sourcing (100% organic, sustainable or local, no toxic products). Find out all about the programme on our website, including the organisation of weekends based around music and well-being (massage, meditation, sound therapy etc)... Calm, cosy, country-style and slow... It's "la Doucelle de vivre"! Find out more about Isabelle and Jonathan, the Slowlydays team.

Le Portique - Centre régional d’art contemporain du Havre

Le Portique promotes and enhances contemporary creation. A place of production and distribution, the structure works to promote contemporary art and presents, as part of its exhibitions, emerging and established artists, who explore different areas of art. Protéiforme, the program provides a panorama of current creation, calling upon various mediums, multiplying the supports. It is deployed in a building located in the heart of the old center of Le Havre, thus making culture part of the daily life of the inhabitants. One of the missions of the place is to educate the eye and promote access to the work of art. Thus, various tools are made available to visitors to extend the exhibition experience and deepen their knowledge. A team of mediators completes this mechanism intended to encourage cultural practice. Workshops and visits are organized, inviting you to discover the exhibitions and their theme. These sessions combine artistic practice and discovery of the history of art. Le Portique is also active in the field of artistic and cultural education, offering numerous interventions in the school environment. Anxious to address all audiences, the structure also organizes actions for audiences "prevented" through the prism of agreements established between the health and justice sectors. Forging numerous partnerships with local and regional structures, Le Portique works to disseminate culture in Normandy and to various audiences. Le Portique is subsidized by the City of Le Havre, Drac Normandie, the Normandy Region and the Department of Seine-Maritime. He is a member of the d.c.a. - French association for the development of art centers since 2020.

[FERMÉ] Hôtel Dubocage de Bléville

The Dubocage de Bléville Mansion Museum, located in the heart of the Saint François neighbourhood designed in the 16th century by the Italian architect Jérôme Bellarmato at the request of King Francis I, was the property of the merchant seaman Michel Joseph Dubocage de Bléville (1676-1727). He distinguished himself by taking part in an important expedition to the Pacific Ocean sailing round Cape Horn between 1707 and 1716. During this expedition, on Friday 3rd April 1711, on board the ship La Découverte, he discovered Passion Island off the coast of Mexico, which was later renamed Clipperton Island by the British. His voyage then took him to China, more precisely Amoy (known today as Xiamen) where he negotiated one of the first trade treaties between France and China. On 23rd August 1716, after a nine-year expedition, the ship La Découverte arrived in Le Havre with its hold full of silverware and raw silver. Wealthier after this expedition, he bought a townhouse which is now known as the Dubocage de Bléville Mansion. After improving and extending it, he settled there with his son and set up a maritime trade company and a cabinet of curiosities. It comprises two remarkable adjoining buildings dating back to the 17th century. One is a half-timbered building covered in slate, the other one is made out of brick and black flint. At the back, Rue de Percanville, a detached brick building from the 17th century used to house one of the shops of the Dubocage de Bléville's trade company. Visitors can have a walk around the different rooms on the ground floor and first floor of the house. On the ground floor, permanent exhibitions regularly make way for temporary exhibitions about the history of Le Havre. On the first floor a room is dedicated to Michel-Joseph Dubocage de Bléville and his son.
