This massive mountain plays the role of sentry of the high valleys and offers the visitor a look of exceptional magnitude. The trail starts shortly after the center of the village from Nice. 1- 1- Take a right turn on an asphalt track. Continue on a path passing behind some houses via the beacon 32. The trail rises quietly before winding up a bit. Continue climbing to an intersection 4 km from this point. 2- Turn off to the left as indicated at the beacon 8, then climb to the summit crest of Mont-Vial, which is easily reached via the beacon 285. 3- The return is made by the same itinerary.

The path overhangs and then crosses the Besseuges stream, which marked the ancient border between Provence and the County of Nice, and then you reach the end of the world.

In the foothills of the Gourdan mountain, you can discover the small Saint Saturnin chapel and a magnificent panoramic view of the Chanan valley, the mountains of Miolans, Cheiron and Mount Vial.

1 Royal Gate, Machicolation Redoubt Main entrance to the village since 1658 with 18th century machicolation redoubt with openings on the road side. The roof, which is quite exceptional in Vauban constructions of this period, characterises these two bastions. 7 Balcony from the 17th century The wrought iron balcony is typical of the houses of the nobility. This was the residence of the Counts of Grasse-Briançon. It has been altered, but it still shows the poor fortune of the rural nobility. 8 Hotel of the Barons of Glandèves The Glandèves were lords of Entrevaux until 1542 and kept this hotel until the Revolution. With its triple row of windows, vast and numerous windows and monumental staircase, this hotel was transformed into a barracks in 1823. In front, on the rampart side, is the "bastion of the barracks". 9 School of Charity Known as the "Brothers' Schools", they were created in the 17th century for the instruction of boys. It served as a hospital until the 1960s. 20 Porte de France With drawbridge and adjoining guardhouse. 22 Armoury Reserve shop, armoury. 23 Access to the citadel and the Poudrière Museum To reach the fortress: 25 minutes' walk, 800 m of path divided into 9 successive ramps, 156 m difference in height. The powder magazine museum retraces the military history of the village. These 58 m2 could hold 9 tons of powder. This was far too much for Entrevaux and extremely dangerous.

At the intersection, turn left towards Les Tuves. The hike continues along the asphalt road towards the hamlet of Les Tuves. After passing all the houses in the hamlet and before the Domaine de Glandèves, the path turns left. The path begins a pleasant descent through the forest to the Neigeas district. Return via the road that leads to the station area.

Fortification part of the Maginot line. It is a small artillery work that aimed to prohibit the Brouis pass connecting the Roya valley to the north and the Bévéra valley to the south. Built close to the Col de Brouis fort, these barracks housed the troops responsible for the artillery and operation of this structure, as well as soldiers from the outposts at cime du Bosc and Cougoule. During the fighting for the liberation of Breil-sur-Roya in April 1945, the Germans dug in and inflicted heavy losses on the Free French of the 1st DFL. Severely damaged by shells and bombs, the fort was abandoned to the army.

Wishing to pay homage to the men of the 1st DFL who died to liberate the region (cf. Fort du Col de Brouis), the municipality of Breil sur Roya erected a monument on the Col de Brouis.

Located along the old Savoyard salt road, the Notre-Dame des Grâces chapel is halfway between the village and the Brouis pass. As an epidemic of plague ravages Breil-sur Roya, the inhabitants go to implore the Virgin at the sanctuary of Rocaforte de Mondovi. They commit themselves, if the plague ceases, to raise a chapel on the path through which the plague has arrived. Their wish granted, they build this chapel also called Notre Dame des Neiges, and seal a plaque indicating: "Comm. communitas Brelii, tempore pestis 1631, Augt. votum feisset, quod intercessione, ss Marie Virginis, arque Rosalie et Roch, libera fuit", "The community of Breil at the time of the plague of 1631 had made a vow on August 5, because, through the intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, of Saint Rosalie and Saint Roch, she was set free". Several ex-voto and a pair of crutches testify and wishes granted.

The bridge over the Bévéra river has been attested on the road between Nice and the Piemont as early as the 13th century. Temporary exhibitions take place inside the Pont-Vieux. For any information, contact the tourist information office of Sospel Partly rebuilt in the 16th and 17th centuries, only the lower part of the pile remains from medieval age. The watchtower was inhabited and housed a shop until 1960. The two arches were destroyed by the Germans in october 1944 and then rebuilt faithfully to the original in 1951.

Located on a beautiful site of the Breilloise olive grove, the chapel incorporates Romanesque apses, Gothic portals and a Baroque bell tower around its three Romanesque naves with baroque decorations. The attic of the chapel is home to bats in summer, protected by the Natura 2000 programme and the Mercantour National Park. The Madonna of the Mount has a basilical plan with a central nave and two collaterals. Three apses in the cul de four extend the three naves. The structure of the main nave is supported by high walls above the arcades that separate it from the collateral. This nave is illuminated by side bays in the upper part. The collaterals, lower, are covered with "shed" frames. They are illuminated by oculus at the top of each facade. The side bell tower rebuilt in the early seventeenth century, is partly located in the south apsidiol which remains partially legible inside. A semicircular vaulted porch was built west of the central nave in the early 17th century. It was raised by the creation of a small dwelling around 1830. A masonry cistern of the same period adjoins it to the north. A semi-elliptical forecourt is located at the front of the side gate, north of the building.

Built between 1610 and 1627, the cathedral's crenellated bell tower and powerful buttresses reinforce its defensive appearance. Its Gothic architecture is complemented by an astonishing Baroque interior. Some 100 specimens of two-wheeled machines, in perfect working order, are presented simply on their crutches or hung on the museum's picture rails like paintings by old masters. A must-see for lovers of fine bikes. 105 motorcycles arranged on 3 levels, by chronological era: - models from 1910 to 1948 on the first floor - models from 1950 to 1960 on the second floor - and models from 1970-1980 in a basement to be created in 2021, in honor of the museum's 40th anniversary!

Sacha Sosno designed this monument on the high plateaus of the Ceva in the heart of the Mercantour Park with the remains of the Liberator plane that crashed on the night of 12/9/44. The 11 American airmen were going to parachute weapons to the Italian resistance fighters. On 14 September 1991, a monument was inaugurated on the plateau of La Ceva (Fontan), at an altitude of 1,720 m, commemorating the "crash" of the Liberator "Dallas Lady", which took place on 12 September 1944 four hundred metres above sea level and cost the lives of 11 American airmen. This plane left Algiers to parachute arms and ammunition (18 containers and 6 large packs of one cubic metre) to Italian partisans in the Turin region when, following a navigational error in the rainy night, it crashed into the mountain. The inhabitants of the Berghe hamlets heard explosions for more than forty-eight hours. Eleven concrete steles commemorate the airmen and the central monument, written in both French and English, contains the history of the flight and the names of the victims. The sculptor Sacha Sosno designed the monumental ensemble, incorporating the remains of the aircraft. In agreement with the Mercantour National Park, the town of Fontan has decided to offer the territory occupied by the museum complex to the United States.
