Camping Sunelia L'Hippocampe: Discover Volonne's Charm

Head towards Oraison, then climb the steep hill to the canal. On the plateau you enter the kingdom of olive trees, more than 80 trees are spread across this spectacular area. The return is along the banks of the canal.

The Tour de la Magdeleine is an ideal circuit to discover, from above, the Durance modified over time by the hand of man. Superb views of the valley, and of the surrounding mountains and countryside. From the village square of Volonne, the route follows the same direction as that of the St Antoine belvedere. After passing some farmland, the path rises through a forest of Austrian black pines, from the reforestation carried out by the ONF, up to the large cistern. From there, leave the track to continue along the ridge. The climb is quite steep. When you join the track, the path branches off to the left, through the woods, until reaching pastures below the old sheepfold of La Fubie, inhabited until 1922, then gradually abandoned. The return takes place at the bottom of the ravine, first by a track, then over the last two kilometers by a small tarmac road which will take you to the village.

The main interest of the Tigne tour lies in the landscape overlooking the Durance and the old village of Volonne, which you discover on the way up while walking through the medieval streets of the village. Very beautiful panoramas over the Durance valley. Departure from the place of the town hall of Volonne. The route begins by crossing the village of Volonne, in the direction of Les Deux Tours, which you will soon leave on your right. After a fairly steep climb, but offering a beautiful panorama, the path continues crossing on the south-eastern flank of Tigne, by forest paths. It then descends gradually towards the lands of the Coques farm. The return is made by the old road from Sourribes and Beaudument, on a wide shaded path which dominates, in places, the deep ravine of the Combe, a wild paradise for wild boars and birds. The last part of the circuit takes the small paved road of the Ravine de la Grave for 1,5km. The return is via the old path that linked Volonne to the Château de Beaudument.

Cross the village to join a small road that winds through the ravine of La Grave and allows you to easily gain altitude. This circuit offers a beautiful panorama of the Durance valley and a descent on steep forest paths. Cross the charming village of Volonne via the ravine of La Grave to the Trois Bastides. Take part of the PR of the St Joseph chapel and at the crossroads of the track turn right. Then join the Bastide Blanche by a long rolling track on a false flat which offers a beautiful panorama of the Durance valley. Then, take a descent on steep forest paths. Start by crossing a dark beech forest which gives a rather magical atmosphere. Then return to your starting point.

Cross the village towards the Trois Bastides by a small road. The path rises gently to reach the foot of the summit of Tigne. The descent is by a long track to the plateau of La Rouvière where there are lavender fields. Departure from Volonne, parking next to the bridge. The departure is shared with route n°12 (La Fubie) to the Trois Bastides then continue straight towards the Hameau des Broumas. After having toured the Tigne massif, you will descend via an easy track to the Rouvière plateau where there are lavender fields (flowering June/July). Return via a small technical balcony path to the heart of the village.

It is a difficult course, very playful and which never leaves time to breathe, it has a strong difference in altitude with lots of bumps to cross. You have very beautiful panoramas of the Lure mountain and the Durance valley from the ridges. The route starts in the undergrowth and winds between the oaks, a first part is driving. Before taking a long climb to find a sublime path on the ridge. A first fast and playful descent, with a few steps and lots of turns ... You are now in the undergrowth and the path only goes up and down all on wonderful singletrack you are in the forest massif of the heathers, it is wild nature in its purest state. Subsequently the path joins a part of the XCO MTB Stadium on the "Jack Daniel" preferably follow the red route. The last part of the trail is just as fun. Take an unusual path that plays between trees, stream and footbridges, all in a refreshing forest. To finish in apotheosis, a last effort will take you on the special of the slides, a part designed for Enduro, under the hill of St Jean, a real Russian mountain that will give you a full range of sensations.

A real Enduro course made up of the best descents in the area, connections with specific markings lead to the departures of 5 specials with different atmospheres. Embark on La Little, l'Obélix, le Canyon, la Jack Daniel and les Toboggans. These routes are physical, they require good mountain bike technique, it is the essential route of the Val de Durance for enthusiasts! The route begins with a copious climb to reach the first special: La Little, it is a very long special that begins with a balcony path before playing between gray earth and undergrowth. Steps, hairpin bends, riding it is paradise!! The special ends near the river. A connection allows you to access a panoramic viewpoint of the area. The special: L'Obélix is ​​mainly in undergrowth, you wind intensely between pines and oaks. Afterwards you will continue with the legendary Canyon special. It is a memorable route in the heart of a canyon, the gray earth surrounds you. A long climb takes you to the start of the Jack Daniel, an intense singletrack, with steep and varied descents. You are on a section of the Stade VTT XCO, preferably follow the red route. A final effort towards the Toboggans special, a real roller coaster that will give you plenty of sensations.

Route suitable for electric mountain bikes, on "rolling" paths and trails, it crosses several villages of the Durance Valley while remaining in the heart of nature. The return is very fun, with tunnel crossings and the passage along the aerodrome. This route is perfect for a discovery hike on a VTTAE (electrically assisted mountain bike).

Discover an exceptional route that takes you in the footsteps of the ancient Roman road by tracks, through preserved landscapes. It is a long route that allows you to discover a rich historical heritage and surprising nature. Departure from Château-Arnoux, tourist office. The route is shared with route no. 4 until near the ruins of the old village of Chateauneuf Val St Donat. Mainly on tracks, it will take you on the old Roman road where the superb Romanesque chapel of St Donat emerges further on. The route then continues to the village of Mallefougasse, after having walked on the foothills of the Lure mountain, passing in front of the Sainte-Madeleine chapel. The return by tracks and paths will take you back to the heart of the village of Château-Arnoux.

An emblematic route in the Val de Durance mountain bike sector, it has technical and sensational characteristics with 95% single-track trails. In the grey lands, the route alternates between winding climbs, fast passages and committed descents. From the tourist office in Château-Arnoux, the route rises directly on a narrow path that will allow you to access the first incredible descent "La Cayenne", a fast singletrack descent with steps and hairpins. The rest of the trail alternates between technical climbs and playful descents among pines and oaks. One more effort and you are on the Pas des Bœufs with a panoramic view of the Lure mountain and the surrounding area. From there, the sublime Terres Grises are available to you. It is a very fun and playful passage, pure mountain biking in an exceptional place. The return will be mainly in the undergrowth, however be careful the last part of the route which passes over the Stade VTT XCO at the level of the "Jack Daniel", preferably follow the red route.

Then, we proceed to the grinding of the fruit with a simple mechanical method, without the addition of chemicals or change in temperature. At the end of the grinding, we get an extra virgin olive oil with a free acidity lower than 0.8%. Our mill produces a local extra virgin olive oil. Our olive oil is peppery and refreshing which is specific to the aglandau olives (90%). Taking the emblematic Blanc Martel trail without taking your car couldn't be easier, thanks to the shuttle bus and the Zou 450 regional line (ex BV1 )from Riez, Roumoules, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and Castellane. Shuttle service resumes on 28/04/2023. How does it work? The Zou 450 regional line links Riez to Castellane via the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon. From La Palud-sur-Verdon, the Blanc-Martel shuttle bus takes you to the Chalet de la Maline, the trailhead. The trail ends at Point Sublime (Rougon). For your return journey, take the shuttle bus to the village of La Palud-sur-Verdon and/or the regional line 450 to Riez or Castellane. Timetables... To ensure optimum operation, the timetables of the Riez-Castellane regional line (450) and the Blanc-Martel shuttle are coordinated. Volonne is a little village of 1 700 inhabitants at the foot of a rocky spur overhung by two towers. Volonne is also called the "little Nice of the Alps" because of its sunny exposition facing the south-west. The Escale dam was filled with water in 1960, and today it is full to 80% with Durance silt, which has resulted in it becoming overgrown with reed-beds and riparian vegetation, thus creating a marvellous environment for avifauna.

In this small valley, this humpback beam bridge over the River Vançon reflects the life of yesteryear. A mediaeval construction from the 14th century, the bridge gave access to the village of Saint-Symphorien. Queen Joan, Countess of Provence and Queen of Naples in the 14th century, is thought to have given it to the residents of the village as thanks for offering her refuge when she was accused of the murder of her husband, Andrew of Hungary (King of Naples).
