Queen Joan Bridge

Description

In this small valley, this humpback beam bridge over the River Vançon reflects the life of yesteryear.
A mediaeval construction from the 14th century, the bridge gave access to the village of Saint-Symphorien. Queen Joan, Countess of Provence and Queen of Naples in the 14th century, is thought to have given it to the residents of the village as thanks for offering her refuge when she was accused of the murder of her husband, Andrew of Hungary (King of Naples).
