After two narrow hairpin turns, continue the descent to the bottom of the valley and continue upstream (RP). 4 - At the crossroads "la Senancole", cross the ravine to the left and go up the trail of Grande Combe to the right. Leave a trail on the left (RP) and advance 130m further. 5 - Turn right, leave the valley and climb a rocky path. Once on the plateau, reach the old farm of Débroussède. Continue to the right on a poorly marked trail for about 80m and take a quick right then a left in the valley of La Sénancole. Cross the ford and reach the Senanque Abbey. 6 - Climb the path on the right going above the car park. Turn right and go up the road (GR®).). Go down the road (D177) for 100m and go onto the trail on the right (GR®).). Keep descending straight. Reach a small road. Follow it to the left and reach the Sénanque road (D177). 7 - Take the road (D177) on the right 220m further, then at a lamppost under an oak, turn left and get onto the Gordes road (D15). Turn left, pass the big curve and return to the castle (GR®).).

Continue to the right on the Vertu path, then do not miss the Ara path to the left which comes out on the corner of the cemetery of Maubec. 4 - Turn left and after the church, climb the slope of the old village. At the top, turn left. Turn and go down to the right. Continue straight on 1km / less than a mile then turn left on the Peirou path. Come out on the Marronniers path after the cemetery of Robion. 5 - Take a sharp left, go up the path and continue left on the Luberon avenue. Pass in front of the sylvan theatre and take a turn until the church square. Turn to the left, pass the town hall and down the Oscar Roulet street. Continue straight until the traffic light. Cross the D2 and continue across. At the roundabout, turn right at "Avenue de la Gare". Shortly after crossing the Carpentras canal, enter right onto the long-distance cycling route. 6 - Take the EV8 to Coustellet and thus return to the starting point.

Reach the D4 (calvary), turn left and reach Murs. 5 - At the crossroads between the D4 and the D15, exit to the left on the small road. Lower down, go onto the opposite track. 700m further, do not miss the start of the trail to the right. Go down two rocky hairpin bends, go past the Moulin des Etangs (private property, cannot be visited). Continue onto the valley floor. Pass the Devissé windmill and continue going. 6 - In front of the Charlesse windmill and its penstock, continue at the bottom of the Gorges to the left. Make a detour to the right to reach the foot of the ledge of the mill of the Cata well. Continue at the bottom of the Gorges and reach the path taken to go. 3 - Turn right and climb the hairpin bends. Continue on the balcony path. Continue on 400m on the plateau. 4- Be careful not to miss the path on the right (Cairn - turn around if you reach to the weather station!). Moving forward on the edge of the Barre de Fiot (markings hardly noticeable). After the Barre de Gautier, move to the right (point 601m), go 300m down and switch left into the valley. 500m further and 180m lower down, continue on the left flank of the valley, crossing several hairpin bends and come out on the trail in the foothills. 5- Turn right (GR®), descend some more then rise slightly to switch to the clearing of Combrès valley. After the vineyard, turn left at the crossroads "Combrès", then climb the old cobblestone path to the right that leads up some steps in the village of Oppède-le-Vieux.

After a curve to the left, go forward on the flat area and reach the paved forest path. 4- Turn right and proceed 400m, pass the hilltop of the Mourre de Cairas (733m) on the right and continue on the track for 1.5km. 5- At the crossroads'Bastidon Pradon' turn to the left in the undergrowth and reach the small refuge that is 150m away. Retrace your steps to point 5, cross the forest track and go straight to "l'épaule de la Jassine" (GR). Then switch to the slope, cross several curves and reach a little collar lower down. Continue on the left, pass below the Ribas de Brécugne (climbing school site) and reach the chemin de la Fontaine. 1- Go back Place de la Croix through the path used at the start (GR).

Cross the road and turn right lower down on a trail. Lead back to the D244 and the Col 100 m downstream.3- At the col des Trois Termes (pole), turn left on the D177, then 50 m further down, go down the path to the left until the creek of Puy Neuf. There, climb the other side and after a steep slope, cross the area of the Dalle des Busans. At the exit of a road, turn right, then 200 m further, turn left on a path along an old meadow. Go straight, turn slightly on the left and then switch until you reach a wider path. Cross a short passage between two walls (can be avoided by taking a right turn) and go straight on the paved road to the D15.4- At the intersection “Fontanille”, leave the marked horse routes and go up the road to the left for 750 m. Go down a gravel path and reach the heights of the gorges of Véroncle (lectern). Continue straight on the path (PR) that descends to the hamlet of Grailles. Upon arrival on the tarmac, turn left (markup GRP®), cross the small bridge, go along an old mill, then go up the path on the left. Turn right 50 m further, then immediately on the right again, to land on a track (markup PR). Cross and remain across on the small road that leads back to Joucas.

In the heart of the old Vaudois village of Mérindol, in the southern Luberon between Lourmarin and Mallemort, Mathieu and Sébastien propose uncompromising Provencal recipes: aïoli, monkfish bourride and lamb shoulders cooked over a wood-fired oven. In summer: an intimate terrace bordered by the stones of the region's traditional bories; in winter: authentic dishes served by the warmth of the wood fire. Recently settled in this small village, Mathieu and Sébastien play the local game and select their products from the most local producers: beer and apple juice from the neighboring fields and orchards, lamb from the Alpilles and oil from the ancient village mill.

You must have heard the term "calade" while on a stroll. This term refers to a paved road or a cobblestone street. The word "calade" comes from the root "cal" meaning "stone" or "step" but also from "cala" in Provençal meaning "to go down". Some paths and many streets were paved so to facilitate the passing of men and animals, but also to limit erosion. First on slopes, public squares or fountain decorations, then they were paved for reasons of cleanliness.

By June 1943, it was here, near the Sénancole, where the first Resistance members, welcomed and trained by groups of the Secret Army, were initially grouped before having to find quickly other dens.

Here at the farm of Grangiers in spring of 1943, Roger and Bernadette Louis hosted the first resistants to the Compulsory Work Service (STO), who will join the different maquis of the area. In September 1943, the Germans were tipped-off and came to arrest Roger Louis. He managed to escape and joined the general staff of the Ventoux maquis. In the summer of1944, the soldiers of the 8th Company (military unit) of Brandenbourg return, pillaged the house, tortured and threaten to kill Bernadette. She then manages to escape with her five children.

Bories are dry stone huts, built without binder or mortar. These temporary shelters for men, tools, crops and animals, were built by farmers with field stones. Round, square or rectangular, their vault is in corbels. Those still standing are not older than 3 or 4 centuries, the older ones would have crumbled following their abandonment. Here, thirty dry stone huts have been resurrected and restored by ten years of work.

Proof of a very active rural life until the 19th century, the Sénancole valley is filled with troglodyte constructions (that is to say, built under the rock) including the house of the Croix des Baux and windmill of Beaume (concealed downstream on the opposite bank). Taking advantage of the natural shelters fashioned by time, a masonry façade was added by man to reduce the volumes and make them habitable.

Under this rock, the members of the Resistance came to find shelter several times, including the night of July 10, 1943 while the Germans were searched one of their wrecked aircrafts fallen over the Sénanque valley.

On the side of the Monts de Vaucluse, this village with a rich historical past has a name that can refer to the old "quarries" that were found in the area. Another version would like Cabrières to be translated as "goat country", the origin coming from the word "Cabro", goat in Provençal. The "d'Avignon", (official version) comes from its belonging to the Comtat Venaissin and was used to differentiate this Cabrières of Cabrières-d'Aigues, also in the department of Vaucluse.

Dating back to the 19th century, the low-fountain consists of a lock wall (basin) in a semi-octagonal shape formed with large stones hooked together. Note also the large size of the iron bucket holders. Originally, its overflow fed the washhouse which was located a little lower, which is not the case today. The latter is composed of three basins which were used for washing and rinsing. The wooden beam, in turn, was used to spin-dry the clothes.

The castle of Cabrières Avignon dates from the eleventh or twelfth century. It is a historical place that served as shelter to Vaudois in spring 1545. During the massacre of the Vaudois, the village is razed; the castle was rebuilt in the late sixteenth century. Ranked as a historical monument, this private castle can be visited only during Heritage Days in September.
