Stage de Clown organisé par La Clairière

La Clairière is organising the visit of Michael Egard for a clowning workshop from 2 to 4 May 2025. The work of the clown allows us to create, to be actors, to be authors, to have authority over our words. It's not a mental creation based on good ideas, but an intuitive creation in which the actor's body allows itself to be the site of a trans-personal re-presentation of the archetypes that are embodied in our lives. It is the almost impossible, even desperate, attempt to show a part that is not meant for the eyes of the world: a totality, shadow and light, transcending the moral and societal dichotomies of good and evil, beautiful and ugly. In this way, the theatre can rediscover its primary virtue: to be the place of collective care from which an essence of meaning can emerge. The shared discovery of this clearing of meaning, in the same space and time, by a community meeting, makes the theatre a sacred time for our marvellous humanity, a formidable undertaking of emancipation and self-realisation. As well as helping people to become playwrights, ce de clown hopes to pass on technical and methodological tools. This technical corpus, which is not exhaustive and is constantly evolving (because we are ourselves in a state of discovery), is far from being a model to be copied in order to do things well. Technique is never performative, but rather a way of bringing together the conditions that allow the intuitive voice and the creative body to express themselves. In other words, technique is a way of concentrating the actor's awareness on tools for modulating, arranging, listening and reading that prevent the intervention of the mind and its corollaries (injunctions, expectations, judgements, ideas, etc.). The 'Laughing at the Real Thing' weekend is open to everyone, beginners and experienced clowns alike. It's a great way to get to grips with this work and meet other clowns. Through simple exercises, we'll discover the art of clowning: an art of relationship. Audiences don't laugh when it's funny, but when they like it. And they love it when it's true. It's as simple as it sounds... ...and that's what's so complicated! The speaker : Michaël Egard His method is a blend of several approaches to clowning (Catherine Germain and Michel Dallaire), physical and masked theatre (Lecoq, Le Samovar) and professional experience (actor, director and trainer for 20 years). He currently works with the companies Jamais Trop d'Art (Zaï Zaï Zaï), Mycélium (Croûtes), O captain mon capitaine (Queen A man), OCtiS (Le dédale palace), accompanies several clowns and teaches at Le Samovar. "We talk about the quest for meaning. But people's quest is really a quest for feeling: to experience being alive... while they're alive". Joseph Campbell SCHEDULE : Friday 2 May: 11am-1pm and 2pm-6pm Saturday 3 May: 10am-1pm and 5.30pm-8.30pm Sunday 4 May: 9.30am-12.30pm RATES : Educational cost: €210 La Clairière membership: €10 FOR INFORMATION AND BOOKINGS, CONTACT: laclairiereyeu@gmail.com Accommodation available on site, contact La Clairière.

LES HALLES

LES HALLES

Located on the former town square, this covered market was built in 1552 by Jérôme De Carné, Earl of Cohignac and creator of the fairs held in Questembert. By fate, it was restored in 1675 by a local entrepreneur named Estienne Charpentier (Estienne Carpenter in English). Les Halles were designed to cover, mark off and control trading areas. The marketplace was a great place to mingle and exchange goods. In the past, drapers, rope makers and shoemakers met here to sell their goods. This was the main activity during old country fairs. Traditional handicraft (canvas, wool, fine linens and leather) was very important in Questembert. Craftsmen having the same profession often lived in the same neighbourhood, even on the same street. Therefore, professional relationships were very easy to make. Streets were often named after certain professions, such as rue de la laine (wool street), rue de la tannerie (tannery street), etc. Les Halles, restored in 1997, have never been used as much as today. It holds a large market on Monday mornings and a market selling regional products on Wednesday evenings as well as flea markets, concerts and other cultural events. Les Halles was classified as a Historical Monument in 1922. Only four “historical” covered wooden markets have survived in the region of Brittany: Questembert and Le Faouët in Morbihan, Plouescat in Finistère and Clisson in Loire-Atlantique. Now, head towards Place de la Libération, and then Place Gombaud. On the other side of the roundabout, you will find the headstone of Alain le Grand, King of Brittany.
