Short hike on the shores of the Rhone river leading to a lovely panorama at Mont de Cordon. This short hike at the southern end of the Ain department on the border with Isère offers the possibility of going around the Mont de Cordon surrounded by the arms of the Rhône river. The ascent allows you to enjoy a very beautiful view of the river, the local mountains, the Chartreuse mountaines and the tiny and charming surrounding villages. The end of the loop weaves its way between the Rhône river and various caves on the side of the cliff. Available on the free App Ainoutdoor.

This loop follows the banks of the Rhône and the Guiers. The history, fauna and flora of this particular territory are to be discovered by strolling along the water. This circuit, starting from the island of Cordon, first takes the Champagneux dam and follows the wild Rhône to the confluence of the Rhône and the Guiers. This part is carried out on the road first, then on a motorable path to Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers. This tour is suited for Gravel bikes, Mountian bikes and hybrid bikes. Not recommended for road bikes. The loop then travels between the Rhône and its lones, an arm of the river winding back from its main bed before returning to the ViaRhôna, a cycle path connecting Geneva to the Mediterranean by making a detour via the majestic Glandieu waterfall located on the roadside of the hamlet of the same name.

This waterfall, whose water gushes from a height of over 60 m, is classified as a "Sensitive Natural Area". It is open to the public all year round and can be admired from a special area. To preserve it, swimming, picnics and dogs are prohibited. To refresh yourself in summer, take advantage of the supervised swimming in July and August at the Glandieu lake, located 2 km from the waterfall, at the exit of the hamlet towards Brégnier-Cordon. Two car parks have been set up outside the hamlet. It is not possible to park in the immediate vicinity of the waterfall. A guided tour is organised by the Tourist Office to find out more about the history of the hamlet of Glandieu. Reservation required at the Tourist Office.

The natural reserve of the Haut Rhône français extends over 25 km. It is the biggest forest and fluvial reserve of France. Before Lyon and between the south peak of the Bugey and the hills of the Dauphiné, the Rhône filled a lake born from the melting of the quaternary glaciers with its alluviums. The river then deviated from its course during several centuries and created countless "Iônes" arms, before being canalised by dykes and ripraps. You can discover this river through nature outings, pleasure boatings, or canoe and kayak itineraries.

The gîte can accommodate up to 8 people (3 bedrooms), and is accessed via a stone staircase not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
