The “Painter’s Trail” lets you follow the steps of artists who have settled in the district for some time. This path will remind you of several important characters from the neo-impressionism period (1892-1926) from Theo Van Rysselberghe and Henri-Edmond Cross to famous writers such as André Gide and Emile Verhaeren. You will be able to find copies of their paintings on easels, all along the 2.50km path (1.5 miles). This walk can be carried out in 2 hours (easy pace).

The Committee of the French Remembrance of La Londe les Maures, with the support of the municipality, proposes a free path that recalls the occupation of the village from 1942 to 1944, the commitment and the sacrifice of its inhabitants and its liberation on August 17, 1944. Two panels at the East and West entrances of the city, 5 lecterns and 2 wall plaques located in different places of the town, constitute a memory trail in tribute to the French and American soldiers and the twenty-two Londais "Dead for France" during the Second World War. The project that was inaugurated on August 17, 2019, obtained the label of "75th anniversary of the landing and the Liberation" created for the occasion by the Ministry of the Army.

Discover the Maures mountain range on a mountain bike and enjoy the sensations. From the Croix d'Anselme car park, enjoy a 1 km descent on the RD 14, surrounded by chestnut trees. At the intersection, turn right towards Col des Fourches Gonfaron. At the arrow post "Vallon de Rascas" take the direction of Valescure and prepare your calves to start the climb for about 10 km until the arrow post "Cros de Mouton". On arrival take the direction of La Garde-Freinet, continue for 1 km and turn right at the intersection towards Capelude. Hilly climb for 700 m on a sandy track until you reach the top of Le Défens. Here, take the time to stop and enjoy the panoramic view of the whole Collobrières forest and the sea. Enjoy the next 8 km of descent on a partly dirt and partly stony track surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation. On the way you can stop at the Treps reservoir, where picnic tables are available for a break. You can also admire the Chartreuse de la Verne in the distance. At the end of this descent, you will arrive on the RD 14, which you will have to climb for 400m to join the path on the left on the dirt roadside, which will take you to the ascent of the Chartreuse de la Verne on a trail of about 9.5 km with no difficulties or obstacles. On arrival you can visit the monument and enjoy the view towards the Maures massif. Then, follow the arrow post "Chartreuse 1" located at the entrance of the monument towards Plateau Lambert through the undergrowth. This shaded single is relatively technical with some passages on less important stones. Then take the Ragusse track on your right to enjoy a descent on a stony track for about 7 km. Remember to descend below the trail to admire the cedar forest about 2 km from the arrow post. Be careful, this is a very technical trail with a steep descent and a lot of vegetation for experienced mountain bikers. Tip: leave your mountain bike at the top of the track and walk the trail. At the end of this descent, when you reach a small ford, take the RD to the left for 400m and then to the left on the trail parallel to the departmental road. This single track has some small obstacles to overcome (tree roots), and there are 450 m to go before you return to the start car park.

A walk between the village and the seaside along many vineyards. It can be used by all (mountain bikes, gravel bikes, VTC) and combines the Annamites promenade with the Garenne promenade. Your walk starts in the town centre from Avenue Clémenceau, head west to pick up the coastal cycle route over 1 km. Arrive at the Garenne roundabout, cross the road to take the promenade of the same name. Head south towards the sea! You will then walk along the vineyards in the shade of the holm and cork oaks. You can then admire the view of the Vieux Salins d'Hyères and its pink flamingos. Pass along the campsites towards the Bastidon pine forest. There you are, the sea is there! Head east, towards the port and Miramar beach. A small diversions behind the Capitainerie (harbour office) allows you to cross to the other side of the Maravenne rainwater channel. Walk along the quay then follow the seafront to the Argentière pine forest. It's time to head back towards your starting point, via the Annamites promenade, which is particularly shaded under the pines! By following the numbered buoys equipped with handrails you will discover the underwater panels presenting the ecosystem. At depths ranging from 0 to 4 metres, there is a wide variety of underwater landscapes (posidonia meadow, cymodocae, rocks, sand, scree...), inhabited by numerous species of fish, molluscs, crustaceans, starfish... The posidonia meadow: this is not a seaweed but a plant with marine flowers. Posidonia plays a very important role in fixing the sandy bottom, thanks to its roots which form a sort of barrier called the "matte" when they mix with the sediments. The night of November 6, 1942, the small beach of La Fossette is the scene of a secret operation that will play a role in the history of the Second World War two years before the landing of Provence. Escaped a few months earlier from the German fortress of Königstein, General GIRAUD embarks on a point with the help of the patron saint Lavandourain Jules CREST and local resistance fighters. Less than 1 mile from Pointe de la Fossette, a British submarine "Seraph" is waiting to take him to Gibraltar from where he will join the French army in North Africa to participate in Torch Operation, which will be a turning moment of the conflict on the Western Front.

At the head of the second commando shock composed of Moroccans, Captain THOREL is killed in action at the Fossette August 17, 1944 while participating in the liberation of Le Lavandou. His Moroccan prescription Ben BARK is also fatally injured. The necropolis of La Fossette pays homage to theme, not far from where they both fell.

The Villa Theo, house of neo-impressionnist painter Théo Van Rysselberghe, which truly forms part of cultural and historical heritage of Le Lavandou dates back to 1910.

Built in 1855 and damaged during world war two, the Saint Louis Church has been transformed throughout the years. The bell tower has been replaced thanks to Father Hélin, local member of the French resistance. The choir has been renovated with handmade fresco painted by the artist Jean-Baptiste Garrigou in 2009.

These blockhouses are part of a strong network of fortifications, built in 43 by Italian troops, then taken over and densified by the German occupiers. They closed the bay of Bormes, with the eastern end, Villa Bourguet, at the end of the port of Le Lavandou. Between the two, and in the center of the beach, have been built a huge blockhouse with cannon, an anti-tank trench excavated in the dunes, minefields, barbed wire and concrete pyramids as underwater obstacles, some of which are trapped by Tellermine of contact. After being shot by destroyers positioned offshore, the defenders will surrender without a fight to the passage of the 3rd commando of Africa.

Former property of the Jacob Family, this park became a public park owned by the municipality in 1979. Located in the heart of the village, stroll through its alleys lined with eucalyptus, centenarian cedar, palm trees ... Arranged with pergolas, benches and playgrounds for children, this park, of almost one hectare , is a space of relaxation and leisure very appreciated. This small botanical garden with an area of ​​2400 m² is located at the entrance of the village (facing the Cigalou Park). It gives pride to the southern plants: mimosa, acacia, banksia, eucalyptus, grevillea, hakea, melaleuca, eremophilia ... The Gonzalez Park was labeled "Remarkable Garden" in 2015: this distinction marks the recognition of the work done for several decades by the city of mimosa. This unique park in Europe, a real gem in the heart of the village, is composed of more than 500 species of Australian plants. It was born thanks to the generosity of Vivianne Grimminger and Carmen Martinez who offered this plot of 3000 m2 to seal their story and that of the Gonzalez family in the city, so dear to Roberta Gonzalez, daughter of the sculptor Julio Gonzalez. A generous gesture that made it possible, in 2002, to the Gonzalez Park, to be realized thanks to Gilles Augias, in charge of the Service Espaces Vert and Gérard Cavatore, the mimosa specialist.

A medieval village with character. With its rich 12th-century heritage, the village of Bormes les Mimosas reveals a wealth of visual and olfactory treasures as you wander through its narrow streets.

Built in the 18th century, its architecture is inspired by Romanesque architecture. Preceded by the flower-filled parvis Georges Pompidou, its facade features an attractive sundial.

At the precise spot where the first African commandos landed, at the head of the "Romeo Force", climbing the cliffs of Cape Negro at night, a lava stone commemorative plaque (representing the insignia of the commandos) has been affixed in memory of this glorious episode and in tribute to the first liberators of Le Lavandou. Only visible from the sea, this stele was fixed on the rocks where 35 men took foot shortly after midnight and from where they climbed the steep walls silently to reach the location of the enemy guns which was hundred meters higher. This detachment was led by Captain DUCOURNAU and, first of all, a mountain guide, Sergeant DABOUSSY. Their mission was to establish a bridgehead that will neutralize the coastal batteries and allow the Allied armada, seven hours later, to land in force on the beaches of Provence
