An exceptional birth: two Papuan hornbills!
The La Londe-les-Maures Tropical Zoological Garden is celebrating a great success: a pair of Papuan hornbills have raised two chicks this year! After several months in their nest, the two chicks took their first steps outdoors on 20 and 28 August. This birth is all the more remarkable given that their older sister, born at the park in 2025, helped to feed the chicks alongside their father.
With seven species of hornbills present in the park, the Tropical Zoological Garden has specialised for many years in the conservation and breeding of these amazing birds. Native to New Guinea, hornbills play a vital role in tropical ecosystems by helping to disperse seeds. The two chicks are now beginning to explore their surroundings alongside their family: a wonderful opportunity to spot them during your visit!
The Tropical Zoological Garden is open all year round from 9.00 am.
