The start is gentle to warm up the cardio system, then after crossing the D951, the countryside opens up to the runner, with some wild south-facing stretches to take in the view. Then, on the way to the villages of Peufevrier and Lavaud, you'll have to get your knees up... The route follows a small stream! (you don't have to get wet). On the way back, you have to cross the D951, so be careful. A visit to the masterly Bridiers tower, followed by a few technical sections, before finishing peacefully at the edge of the Cheix lake! Have a good run!

The route follows farm tracks, so it's fairly easy. The whole Bridiers sector and the boxwood paths add a great atmosphere to the end of the route.

At the gateway to La Souterraine, take a guided tour that brings to life the daily lives of our ancestors, from antiquity to the Middle Ages. From the Voie Noire (Black Way) to the Voie Jolie (Pretty Way), from feudal mottes to seigniorial keeps, this escapade traverses 2,000 years of history, multiple landscapes and numerous archaeological remains. We leave the outskirts of La Souterraine fairly quickly to access the Sédelle valley via the GR654 and the Chemin de Compostelle, which we intersect several times. There's a nice downhill path (watch out for Compostelle pilgrims going the wrong way!) at around km 7; a pleasant, albeit technical, passage through a stream at km 21... And a beautiful hill to climb at km 22.

This tour of the Sostran hinterland begins by meandering along the Sédelle stream, before taking in the impressive local wind turbines. The tour offers fine views of La Souterraine and ends with a walk through the historic center.

This immersive trail of just over 3 kilometers leads from the church gate to the medieval site of the Château de Bridiers, via narrow streets and lanes, skirting the beautiful Etang du Cheix. Milestones mark the route at regular intervals.

Near La Souterraine, the short Chapuisette circuit takes a detour into the surrounding countryside, skirting a wood and passing through a peaceful residential area. It is also an opportunity to discover a discreet but fascinating environment: the wetland and its procession of invertebrates, amphibians and hygrophilous plants. A play on words and a nod to the historic Paris-Orléans-Limoges-Toulouse railroad line, which this route follows and spans, the Urbain-POLT route is not difficult overall, and remains very pleasant thanks to the variety of spots crossed: parkland, peri-urban groves, sunken lanes, undergrowth and characterful hamlets... To be done at full speed or at a more leisurely pace, depending on your mood. Have a good run!

Le Petit Gîte Creusois is located in the hamlet of Bridiers, very close to La Souterraine. Just a few hundred meters from the Gîte, you'll discover the Tour de Bridiers, the emblematic site of the Fresque de Bridiers, a lively show held every early August. For anglers, the 5-hectare Etang du Cheix is the ideal fishing spot. Numerous footpaths and hiking trails a short distance from the gîte will enable you to discover the flora and fauna of the Creuse. Girded by chestnut tree trellises, the raised flowerbeds of the Tour de Bridiers mediaeval garden is split into themed zones (medicinal plants, aromatic herbs, kitchen garden...) that do everything they can to stimulate the senses.

The pond of Cheix is spread over 6 ha and is the link between the town of La Souterraine and the castle of Bridiers. It is the starting point for many hiking activities. It is also a very popular fishing spot. Last but not least, it is a place of relaxation and family activities: walking and jogging around the pond (1 km), games for children, picnic tables and places for barbecues. The exploration of the small island located towards the tail of the pond will delight children.

Chapelle du Sauveur is a neo-Gothic building. Construction began in 1867, to plans by Abbé Chevalt, and was completed in 1871. The chapel belonged to the convent of the Congrégation des s?urs du Sauveur et de la Sainte-Vierge (founded by Mère Marie de Jésus du Bourg). The convent is now occupied by the "Traces de pas" association. In addition to the chapel, the convent included a pleasure garden, a vegetable garden, farm buildings and a funeral chapel housing the bodies of several superiors. The Chapelle du Sauveur, located between the street and the garden, features a five-bay nave, two side chapels and a choir with a three-sided chevet. This pointed-arched gateway is the city's best-known landmark and its symbol. The original building, with its rectangular base, was extensively altered and raised in the 15th century. At a height of 20 m, it is flanked by two round, corbelled turrets and crowned with machicolated battlements for effective defense. All that remains of the curtain walls that once supported the gate is the beginning, without its battlements and machicolations (height 13 m.) Above the gateway, you can see the former passageway for the wooden beams that supported the drawbridge chains and enabled it to be raised. Contact the Bar du Marché for keys to the building.

The crypt (or lower church) is located beneath the choir and transept of Notre-Dame church. Access is via the Place d?Armes, or an internal staircase leading to the south transept. A special area is dedicated to items found during the Bridiers archaeological dig. Free admission every day (except Monday) in July and August, from 3pm to 7pm.
