This trail starts near the RN 171. This trail will take you to the “Calan” stream, it will charm you with its panoramic view.

This trail is on the old railway track which makes it special.

This walking trail was created by students between the ages of 8 and 13 of the elementary school of Saint Omer de Blain and the middle school of Saint Laurent de Blain.

This trail guides you through the village of “La Gaulais”, where the portion of land named in the 15th century “le Champ Dumont” is. A church was meant to be built, but when they brought the stones for it, they would always disappear once nightfall. Thus, the construction was impossible. Some thought there was something evil so they named it “Le Champ Démon”. This is also where, in the 20th century, the oldest windmill of Bouvron was. Nowadays, it offers a great view !

This long loop passes through large wooded areas of oak and chestnut trees, including the Grand Val at the bottom of which flows Matz Creek. It leads to the Valley of Trévelo Creek, which separates the towns of Caden and Limerzel.

The area of Malansac extends from Rochefort-en-Terre (town listed as a "Petite Cité de Caractère"), to the Grées, a shale and slate-like strip that towers over the Valley of Arz. The Circuit des Ardoisières offers fantastic views but be careful; due to the presence of old open pit mines, it is recommended that you stay on the marked path. VTT marks n°5 blue

This track guides you along a section of the canal from Nantes to Brest and through the countryside for 13 km.

Following the towpath along the Nantes-Brest canal for several kilometres, this trail will also take you on a discovery of the bucolic paths of Blain’s countryside.

It is a pleasant trail with a mixture between culture and nature that will allow you to discover the imposing medieval fortress the Castle of la Groulaie, and the Saint Roch chapel that was edified in the 15th century. After wandering around the countryside, you will walk along the Nantes-Brest canal on the towpath to come back to the port.

La Chaumière Briéronne is only open to guided tours by prior arrangement. 2 guided tours of 1h30 per day, at 11am and 3pm, Monday to Thursday. At 11am on Sunday mornings. Furniture, accessories - including a wedding globe - and tools are all faithfully recreated in this unique room. Then head upstairs, where you can see, smell and touch the inside of the thatched roof, and watch the film Brière et Briérons (1947). At the entrance to the thatched cottage, there are a number of well-documented panels providing information on the Brière islands and thatched cottages. The commune's Tourist Information Point is also located here, so you can get all the information you need about the best places to visit in the Brière. On your way out, walk along the thatched cottage to the curée, the ring of water that surrounds the island. Illustrated panels tell the story of the Brière through the seasons.

Guided tours of the museum are back on! Monday to Friday at 11am and 3pm! Tours are free of charge and must be booked in advance at our Maison de Parc in Fedrun on 02 40 91 68 68 or online at the park's website: www.parc-naturel-briere.com. In the 19th century, bridal wreaths became fashionable in a way that was anything but short-lived: orange blossoms, symbols of innocence and virginity, made from wax, replaced natural flowers. Workshops were set up all over France, including in Saint-Joachim, in the heart of the Brière region. The first Brière workshop dates back to the early 1890s. In 1906, no fewer than 138 workers were making and assembling wax flowers in Saint-Joachim. But even a long-lasting fad eventually gave way to something new: from the 1930s onwards, activity declined, small workshops closed down, and by the 1950s there were no longer any orange blossom wax factories in the Brière region... The Maison de la Mariée tells this unsuspected story, through objects, photos, filmed accounts, wreaths and bridal bouquets, some of which date back to the end of the 19th century. The museum also features a unique collection of bridal globes. Given at the time of the wedding, initially intended to preserve and protect the bride's crown, these glass globes have become veritable showcases for family mementos. A medal, a holy image, the eldest child's first 'bon point', the groom's tie or a pair of delicate ballroom gloves are all placed inside. Neither the globes nor the orange blossom wreaths survived the 1920s and 30s. The purchase by the Brière Regional Nature Park of the collection built up by Lucie Godin (1911-1998) has enabled the collection to be preserved and presented to the public. Discover the treasures of the Ile de Fédrun! Here you can learn about the character of the area and its inhabitants, discover traditional Briéron interiors and marvel at the wreaths worn by young women on their wedding day! The tour includes visits to the two facilities, La Chaumière Briéronne and La Maison de la Mariée. Free admission. Tours depart from the Maison du Parc de Fédrun every Monday to Thursday at 11.00 am and 3.00 pm, and every Sunday morning at 11 am.

The regional natural reserve of the Brière marshes is composed of three distinct areas which cover over 836 hectares. Made up of lakes, reed beds, pastures that are liable to flooding, and mounds, the Regional reserve of the Brière marshes shelters an amazing diversity of flora and fauna. The Grands Charreaux and the Charreau de la Pendille natural reserves, situated at the heart of the marshes, are dedicated to nature preservation so they are not accessible. The Pierre Constant site is the only one to be open to visitors. The 19th of November 2012, at the demand of the Brière Nature Park, The Pays de la Loire Region classified these three sites as Regional Natural Reserve. A semi-detached gite, next to the owners' home near the salt marshes at the heart of the Parc de la Brière. Buildings from the former 17th century Presbytery were restored and transformed into the town hall in 2007 and "Les Digitales" Art Centre in 2011. The Art Centre is a place for activities and exhibits. It displays different models of farming machinery from the collection of Mr Sevestre, a passionate farmer from Caden, and holds a museum presenting farming activities from yesterday and today with interviews from local farmers.

It was restored in the 18th century by the rector of Caden, Jean-Louis de la Houssaye. The date "1756" is written over the side door. It is one of the six friar chapels of Caden. The inside is decorated with 21th century frescos painted by a local artist representing landscapes of the surrounding countryside.

The first chapel was built by the monastic community of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem during the 12th century and under the control of Carentoir like the chapels of Gorvello, Molac and Guerno. It was restored in the 18th century and decorated with a Classical-style pediment on the main door.

Both the 16th century fountain and washhouse are made of regular granite surrounded by a small stone wall. The fountain looks like a small temple sitting large columns and topped with a domed roof. A small alcove was built for the Saint's statue.

Located on Place Gombaud and built in 1907 by the Union Régionaliste Bretonne (Breton Regionalist Union) for the 1000th anniversary of the death of Alain Le Grand (Alan Meur in Breton), King of Brittany. This 5-metre tall granite headstone commemorates the victory of this Breton leader over the Normans (vikings) in 890. On the western side, you can see the blade of a gladiator’s sword pointing downward, which symbolises the sword of great conqueror. Go back up Rue Lebrun et Malard (between the post office and bakery) and enter the cemetery. Inside, you will find Saint Michel Chapel.

It was founded by the lords of Rochefort, who had great power and influence in Questembert and surrounding areas at the time. To the left of the chapel, you will find a 15th century stone cross and rectangular sculpture, representing a processional banner. This type of Christian monument is called a “croix bannière” in French and typical to the region of Brittany. In front of the entrance, a large several century-old yew tree seems to protect the tombs of the parish rectors, including Father Mulot, co-founder of the Montfort Fathers congregation, who died during a mission in Questembert in 1749. The chapel was classified as a Historical Monument in 1922. Restored between 2006 and 2007, it is regularly open to the public (concerts, themed days, etc.). Things to discover nearby: At the end of Rue du Chanoine Niol, the old rectory, washhouse and fountain. The old 15th century rectory is a typical country-style and aristocratic residence of old France (private property). The rectory washhouse resembles a small version of Les Halles. The fountain, made up of three columns, is very unique. The fountain and Saint Martin washhouse are located at the end of Rue St-Martin and Rue de la Fontaine.

This private home with different beautiful finely crafted skylights dates back to the 15th and 16th century and always belonged to very rich families. It was restored in 2005. Take Rue Saint Michel, turn left, and enter the small garden, where you will find the turret of Hôtel Belmont.
