If you're looking for a wellness break in an unspoilt natural setting, with friends or family, the Moulin de Cordouen, between Mayenne and Orne, offers a quality service with its sauna and Nordic bath on the River Mayenne. The Moulin has been redesigned by an architect to offer spacious accommodation in every room, with bay windows to take advantage of the waterfall and the landscape. Les Bruyères offers a comfortable setting with spacious rooms and a sheltered courtyard with barbecue and garden furniture. On the ground floor, you enter through the living room (28m²) with its wood-burning stove, a large TV with DTT and two sofas. The 25m² kitchen has a large fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, oven, microwave, 2 induction hobs and 2 gas hobs. The shower room has a walk-in shower, washbasin, storage space and hairdryer. Separate WC. Upstairs, 3 bedrooms. The 1st (34m²) has a 180*200 king-size bed, bath and WC, privacy screen and plenty of storage space. You are 13km from the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne and in the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park. You'll love the hiking trails and the nearby Véloscénie cycle route linking Paris to Mont Saint Michel. If you fancy a spot of fishing, there are plenty of opportunities in the village, with lakes and trout in the river.

The Bonneville-sur-Touques washhouse, which is almost entirely period, is particularly original in its shape and architecture. It is said to be of the "hall type", in the same way as the washhouse at Bourgeauville. It is quite large and imposing in the landscape. The washhouse is made up of two cement basins: a small rectangular basin where water from a spring flows into a large basin downstream. The small basin was used to collect clean water, while the large basin was used for washing clothes, as evidenced by the washboard around the edge. There are also old brick walls on either side of the small basin, rare features in the area, which join up with a stone wall at the back of the washhouse. The framework of the washhouse is made of wood and rests on five posts fixed to brick-covered cement flashings. There are two beams to dry the washing and wooden boards encircling the washhouse in the middle and on the right-hand side to close it off. The roof of the washhouse, which is unique in the area, is made up of slate and gutters surrounding the roof. The roof was renovated in 1952 following war damage. What's more, if you look closely, you'll see a period sign that reads: "It is formally forbidden to wash sacks and cloths in the washhouse under penalty of fine - 1954 municipal by-law". At that time, only washing clothes was allowed in the basins. The washhouse is fed by a fountain located near the castle. Make the most of your stroll to discover this unique washhouse, on foot or by bike. If you're more curious, you may also catch a glimpse of the castle just upstream.

The Tourgéville military cemetery is owned by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, which maintains it. Created in 1918, it was fitted out in 1920. Its perpetual concession by France to the United Kingdom was provided for by law of December 29, 1915 (implementing decree November 25, 1920) so that the latter could have fallen soldiers buried there. on French soil, in particular the soldiers who died in the hospitals of the British army installed in Trouville-Deauville: from June 1917 from an "English" health camp on Mont-Canisy, then from October 1917 a 14th convalescent camp in Trouville-sur-mer and at the same time a fleet of trawlers in Deauville. It became important following the establishment, in February 1918, of the hospital sector of Trouville-sur-mer, which subsequently included the 72nd, 73rd, 74th general hospitals, and the 13th, 14th and 15th convalescent camps. At the end of the First World War, there were 293 graves of soldiers who died in camp, either from their wounds or more than a third of the Spanish flu: 209 graves of Commonwealth soldiers, 24 graves of soldiers American (recorded in 1932), 57 German graves (prisoners) and 3 civilian graves. Today, the cemetery brings together graves from the last two World Wars, friendly and enemy combatants, a total of 315 graves: 209 graves of Commonwealth soldiers including 19 sailors, soldiers and airmen, 8 soldiers from Australia, 8 from Canada, 1 from New Zealand, 13 graves of Allied soldiers from WWII, 90 German prisoners, and 3 civilians (one nurse and two civilians from the United Kingdom). It remains a calm, peaceful and well-maintained place. Some stelae have a rounded or pointed end in order to differentiate the British and German graves: soldiers from both camps in the same cemetery, a beautiful gesture of peace and a place of history not to forget ...

The Canapville washhouse is one of the few L-shaped washhouses. It is open on either side and consists of a large rectangular basin and a washboard. The washhouse is built lower than the road, which is why there are two steps leading up to it. Various materials were used to build the basins: cement, bricks and flint. The wooden frame of the washhouse was renovated a few years ago, which explains why it is in such good condition today. The structure rests on ten posts fixed to cement flashings for support. There are also several beams that were used to hang out the washing. The structure also supports the slate roof of the washhouse. This roof protected the washerwomen from the elements. According to the Calvados departmental archives, the roof was built in 1925-1926 at a cost of 4,000 francs. If you look closely at the surroundings, you'll notice a sign with the following inscription: "Municipal order of 28 November 1888: "It is forbidden, under penalty of a fine, to wash any object other than laundry, or to deposit any filth on the banks". This inscription is reminiscent of the one on the Bonneville-sur-Touques wash-house sign. For the same reasons, only the washing of clothes was allowed in the basin. According to eyewitness accounts, a woman used to wash her clothes in the washhouse with her wheelbarrow until 1982! The washhouse is fed by a nearby spring, which has probably been converted into a pond. Located just a few metres from the Pont-L'Evêque road, the washhouse is easily accessible on foot, by bike or by car.

One of the oldest and most picturesque of the Pays d'Auge's half-timbered manor houses. Private property occupied by its proprietors and listed Historic Monument. Visits of the gardens, the cider press and the interior including a monumental fireplace, 18th century furniture and a fine collection of Chinese porcelain. Guided tour in French or English lasts 45 minutes.

Situated between Pont l?Evêque and Deauville-Trouville-sur-Mer, the Touques marsh is a sensitive natural area, a wetland located downstream of the Touques coastal river. The marsh features a diversity of natural environments, including ponds, reedbeds, meadows, etc.? These habitats are home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including 212 species of birds, 30 species of mammals, 3 species of reptiles, 9 species of amphibians and 33 species of dragonflies, some of which are rare or vulnerable in France. To discover the marsh, 2 loops totalling 5.3 km have been set up, with a footbridge linking them. In the heart of the marsh, an ornithological observatory on the edge of a pond will enable you to observe a number of birds, which you can identify with the help of a frieze. For your information, a parking lot is located at the junction of the railway station in Canapville and the route de Trouville, in Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains. It has a capacity of 18 car spaces, as well as bicycle racks and bus parking. (This is a temporary presentation; a more detailed presentation of the natural area will be available at a later date)

In the heart of the Côte Fleurie, Mont Canisy breaks away from seaside urbanization. Its immediate proximity to Deauville and south-western exposure have made it a coveted location. The site offers a collection of exceptional views over the Côte Fleurie and the northern Pays d'Auge: the Touques marshes, the Auger hills, the Vaches Noires cliffs and, of course, the seaside resorts of the Côte Fleurie. A few parking spaces are available on route de Canisy, in Bénerville-sur-Mer.

The Glanville washhouse (on the road to Deauville), which is almost entirely original, is one of the ‘market-hall-style’ washhouses recorded in the Terre d’Auge region. This washhouse consists of a large square cement basin with washing boards running around the edge. The floor, which appears to be original, is made of bricks and cement. You will notice a small channel connected to a hole, which probably allowed the water to drain away. In addition, another hole is visible, containing a pipe that used to carry water to the basin. The washhouse is completely open on all four sides and has a wooden roof structure. The structure rests on four posts secured by cement flashings to hold the whole structure in place. If you look closely at these posts, you will see small notches or even rods, suggesting the probable presence of old clotheslines. The washhouse’s roof is made of slate and was designed to protect the washerwomen from the elements. The washhouse is situated near a stream and is therefore supplied with water from the Rû Saint Clair Saulnier, thanks to a diversion of part of the stream’s flow. In fact, this stream was developed in the 19th century to supply – and, above all, to maintain – a substantial flow of water to the Quesnoy mill, situated near the washhouse. Do feel free to stop off at the washhouse whilst passing by in your car or on your bike. You can also explore the village’s other washhouse, situated just a short walk away.

The protected natural site of Mont Canisy dominates the sea from its 110 m. From 1935 to 1940, the French Navy installed two batteries there to help secure the estuary and the Port of Le Havre. Then, from 1942 to 1944, this site became an important link in the “Atlantic Wall”. Various elements (casemates, bunkers, shelters, fortified structures connected by a 250 m long gallery, etc.) remain. Free guided tours are regularly organized by the association "Les Amis du Mont-Canisy". Hill steeped in history, in turn seigneurial fiefdom divided up in 1793, anti-submarine defense post in 1917-1918, coastal battery between 1935 and 1940, the most important artillery fulcrum of the “Mur de l ' 'Atlantique' between Cherbourg and Le Havre from 1941 to 1944, its position facing the Port of Le Havre and the bay of the Seine earned it, during the last world conflict, to be transformed into a concrete fortress. Numerous vestiges remain from this last period: casemates and tanks for 155mm guns, bunkers-shelters, protection tobrouks, fire direction post ... But the most attractive element of the guided tours remains the underground structure, with its 250 m of tunnel, 25 barracks, six stairs providing access to the surface, 25 ammunition bunkers, ... 15 m underground , a unique structure covering more than 150 km of Normandy coast!

It is a typical, traditional highlight in Trouville-sur-Mer. You will be able to discover all the flavors of the sea there: according to the season: scallops, mackerel, soles ... In 1840, the fishmonger was all wood. In 1880, it was replaced by a metal construction. The new fish market, with a neo-Norman style, arrived in 1937, under the leadership of Fernand Moureaux, mayor at the time, and was built by the architect Maurice Vincent. Since 1991, the fish market of Trouville-sur-Mer has been included on the list of historic monuments, an entry which had the effect of protecting the fishing port district.
