Les Franciscaines was an orphanage when it was founded in 1877, a military hospital, a domestic school, a vocational college and finally a "home for the elderly nuns". It went through a thousand different lives before it was renovated by the town of Deauville. A rebirth with a new vocation: to become Deauville's multi-cultural centre, bringing together in a single building: the media library, museum collections, temporary exhibitions, concerts, conferences, shows, a FabLab and a restaurant. Since its opening in May 2021, Les Franciscaines has attracted over 700,000 visitors, with a local, regional, national and international reach.
