This 3.5 km route in the heart of the town of Parthenay invites you to discover the emblematic sculptures of the town and their history. Please note that people with reduced mobility must be accompanied to take the paths that lead to the discovery of certain statues.

Parthenay, with its historic quarter of 100 timber-framed houses - the Rue de la Vau Saint-Jacques is the longest medieval street in Europe - takes the cyclist back to the time of the Seigneurs. Stroll along its winding lanes to enjoy magnificent panoramic views. Climb to the top of the flamboyant Porte Saint-Jacques to admire the rolling green countryside typical of the Gâtine region. Before heading off along the voie verte towards Fenery and Bressuire, the old railway station is the ideal place to picnic, refresh yourself or read a book left at your disposal - Gare de Clessé: former railway station being renovated to welcome tourists (restaurants, accommodation...). - Terves: donkey farm - La Chapelle-Saint-Laurent : Basilique Notre-Dame de Pitié - Bressuire: Notre-Dame church and its 56-meter high bell tower

Departing from Parthenay, this 5.5km loop will give you the chance to discover trail running on a variety of paths, from single-track to dirt roads, wide paths, up and down stairs and small steep sections in town. In addition to discovering the practice of trail running, this route alternates between paths along the Thouet river and passages through the town, allowing you to explore Parthenay's medieval quarter, with its timber-framed houses, fortified gates and ramparts. Parthenay: Little Carcassonne of the West will hold no secrets for you!

In Châtillon-sur-Thouet, park on the car park of the greenway. A notice board will show you the starting point. Then follow the wooden markers with a bicycle and light green directional arrows. Without any particular indications, continue on your way. Discover the charm of the Gâtine and the Thouet valley: hedged farmland, waterways and scattered settlements.

This 5.4 km circuit allows you to discover the heritage of the commune of Oroux, in particular its 2 castles (privately owned), and offers pretty views from the car park next to the village castle.

Departing from Parthenay, you set off on a 22 km loop of medium difficulty. On this route, you'll encounter few major technical difficulties, as you'll be riding almost entirely on paths ranging from single-track to wide paths. You'll go as far as La Trébesse, a pretty hamlet on the banks of the Thouet, which you'll cross several times. On the way back to Parthenay, you'll cross the Rézard ford and discover the magnificent Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre de Parthenay-le-Vieux. An excellent route for intermediate runners.

Sylvie and Christophe will be delighted to welcome you to our 220 m2 house, where you can rent one or two bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. You can also enjoy breakfast or lunch on our separate terrace. One bedroom has a double bed (140cm), and a crib is available on request. The second bedroom has a double bed (140cm) and a 2-seater sofa bed. We can easily park your bicycles, vehicles or other items. The other rooms in our house are private, but we'd be delighted to welcome you around a roaring fire in our living room, or to share a meal in our kitchen. You can use our kitchen if you wish Petanque pitch and table tennis available. Pets not allowed as we have two dogs, three cats, chickens etc...

The gîte is located in the heart of the medieval quarter. On the first floor, there is a garage for bicycles and strollers, but no cars. The gîte comprises an open-plan space on the second floor, divided into a living room, kitchen and dining area with a medieval fireplace. This floor opens onto a courtyard with garden furniture. The second floor comprises the master bedroom with double bed (140 cm x 190 cm) overlooking the medieval street, a second bedroom with two single beds (90 cm x 190 cm), a study, toilet and shower. The interior of the gîte is non-smoking. Down the street, you'll find a bar-grocer's store 50 meters away, as well as other bars and restaurants 200 meters away, near the Saint-Jacques tower and the Thouet river. Further up the street, the town center is around 300 meters away, offering bakeries, bars and restaurants. Minimum 2-night booking

The restaurant "Le Fin Gourmet" is located in the centre of Parthenay, very close to Les Halles, a few meters from the famous Tour de l'Horloge, near a magnificent view of the Thouet and its chef, Thierry Guilbault, offers you menus every week renewed according to the seasons and the flavours of the market, as well as a rich and varied menu reinvented three times a year. The Gatineo aquatic center consists in several facilities: the sports swimming pool (25m x 12.5 m, up to 2m deep) with its 5 lanes; you can break every record! In the wading lagoon (28m², 10 to 30 cm deep), your young children can take a dip in a congenial environment at a safe distance from the other pools. As for the recreational pool (175m², up to 1.30 deep), meant for young and old alike, you may enjoy a water jet massage, waterfalls and water cannons, domed space, a flowing river ... and a giant sliding pond, whooshing you 60 meters through a tunnel.

Dedicated to Saint-Saturnin, the church, dependent on the Parthenay-le-Vieux priory, was modified in the 19th century. In 1851, it was in poor condition, so work was carried out. With a cruciform plan, the building is composed of a single nave, a transept with oriented chapels and a choir with an apse with cut-off sides.

The Chateau de la Chapelle Bertrand belongs to an architectural type common in Gâtine at this pivotal time between the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Of great architectural quality, it presents an interior layout and certain details that already herald the Renaissance.

The Terrier du Fouilloux is nothing less than the highest point of Poitou (departments of Deux-Sèvres and Vienne) at a surreal height of 272 meters, the starting point of the Auxance, a small river with a length of 61.6 km. This source of the Auxance, barely 200 meters from the Terrier du Fouilloux, would be completely unnoticed if several signs did not lead us there. Once the wooden gate is crossed, we discover it, a bit ridiculous but which will however contribute to feed the Loire... "The small brooks make the big rivers" as one says so well! Tributary of the Clain and sub-tributary of the Loire, it crosses the departments of Deux-Sèvres and Vienne. According to the legend, it would have been created by an ox which, with a blow of its horn, at the request of Saint Martin, would have made the water gush out.

The Baunel breeding farm breeds dairy donkeys, Baudets du Poitou, and sport and leisure horses. Foals and colts are sold at around 10 months of age. Dairy donkeys are used to produce organic donkey milk for cold saponification soaps, day creams, body lotions and shower gels, as well as culinary treats. Donkey's milk is also sold to professionals (soap-makers and cosmetics laboratories). Store open by reservation. Tours of the farm by prior arrangement for groups (minimum 10 people)

Located in the Thouet valley, 1.5 km from the centre of La Peyratte, the Carrière du Pont has been operated by the CMGO company since the takeover by the COLAS group in 2012 of the Rambaud family business created in the 1950s. This quarry extends on both sides of the Thouet river and covers an area of nearly 80 ha. The average annual production capacity of the site is 1.3 million tonnes per year. Free visits to the quarry as part of the "Man and Stone" association's calendar of free events: visits with a tour guide and a company technician allow you to go down to the heart of the quarry and discover all its special features. The "Belvédère des Roches", open all year round, offers a panorama of the quarry: 2 panels explain the extraction and transformation industry in a massive rock quarry.

The Roches lookout, open all year round, offers a panoramic view of the quarry and the Gâtine Poitevine landscape. Two panels explain the quarrying and processing industry, allowing visitors to explore the site independently. Located in the Thouet valley, 1.5 km from the center of La Peyratte, the Pont quarry has been operated by CMGO since the COLAS Group took over the Rambaud family business, founded in the 1950s, in 2012. The quarry stretches along both sides of the Thouet, covering an area of almost 80 hectares. Free tours are scheduled every summer (see "L'Homme et la Pierre" program). Commented by a guide and a technician from the company, they take visitors down to the heart of the quarry to discover all its special features.

Producer of apples and strawberries, Fabrice invites you to come and pick his fruit in season. The sale of apples also takes place at the farm (from September to June) in his shop. Farm visits: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons and Wednesday and Saturday all day long (reservation recommended).

Built in the 12th century, like the church, the Cross of the old cemetery is the work of the monks of Talmont. Classified as a historical monument in 1890, it is one of the most beautiful and highest in the department (12 m) including the circular step on which it stands. Composed of four semi-engaged columns in granite of the country, it ends in a cross set in a circle which distinguishes it from the lanterns of the dead as it still exists in cemeteries of Poitou-Charentes, at the top of which, one hoisted at night on certain dates, a torch or a lamp to recall the memory of the dead or to guide lost pilgrims... Croix Hosannière means "to receive crowns of hosanna, i.e. crowns of sacred boxwood". One went in procession at the foot of this monument on Palm Sunday, Corpus Christi or on August 15th.

The granite La Peyratte church became a classified historic monument in 1913. It was probably financed by a grant from Seigneur Kadelon de la Peyratte to the Benedictine monks of Sainte-Croix Abbey in Talmont. The monks built a priory here in the 11th century and the present church in the 12th century.
