Carrière du Pont - Belvédère des Roches - Carrières et Matériaux du Grand Ouest
Description
Located in the Thouet valley, 1.5 km from the centre of La Peyratte, the Carrière du Pont has been operated by the CMGO company since the takeover by the COLAS group in 2012 of the Rambaud family business created in the 1950s. This quarry extends on both sides of the Thouet river and covers an area of nearly 80 ha. The average annual production capacity of the site is 1.3 million tonnes per year.
Free visits to the quarry as part of the "Man and Stone" association's calendar of free events: visits with a tour guide and a company technician allow you to go down to the heart of the quarry and discover all its special features.
The "Belvédère des Roches", open all year round, offers a panorama of the quarry: 2 panels explain the extraction and transformation industry in a massive rock quarry.
