Museum Gaspar is housed in the residence of the middle-class family Gaspar from Arlon who had set up in this house (1893) that was built in 1842. It was renovated in 2004. The two most famous members of this family are animal sculptor Jean-Marie Gaspar (1861-1931) and Charles Gaspar (1971-1950) who was a photographer and a sponsor. He gave his house to the town of Arlon on the condition they make a museum of it, dedicated to his brother's work and that put into honour the history and the heritage of Arlon. At the first floor, theree are two restored salons identical to a middle-class salon from the early 20th century that show Jean-Marie Gaspar's sculptures. and the art and picture collection of Charles Gaspar. The rest of the first floor is dedicated to temporary exhibitions of the museum that alternates artv and history. A religion room shows collections about the abbey of Orval and to the people's devotion at the 18th century, and also relics from the ancient Saint-Martin church. But the Masterpiece is the famous altarpiece Retable de Fisenne - a 16th century masterpiece from the Antwerp school. It was bought in 1893 by a middle-class family from Arlon, the family Gaspar. Jean Gaspar (1861-1931) was a sculptor. He was trained by the Antwerp sculptor Jef Lambeaux. His works are in bronze and in plaster and they are exhibited in the salons that have been restorated as they were in his house. His brother Charles (1871-1950) was a photographer, a collector and a sponsor. He gave this house to the town of Arlon. It hosts the library of the Archaeological Institute of the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and its secretary office since 1954. A wide part of the museum is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions about art and history of Arlon.

Located in the heart of the Vosges, the Abbey of Our Lady of Autrey stands like a memorial to a past rich in history and culture. It is a listed building, and representative of the period stretching from the 12th century to the present day. The 4-hectare estate includes a superb arboretum with more than 3,500 varieties of trees, shrubs, rose bushes and other plants. The discovery trail is suitable for families and it teaches the youngest members about the need to protect our environment.

After 26 August 1914, a desperate struggle took place in the Chipotte mountains in order to regain a favourable position after the fierce fighting that marred the offen¬sive in Alsace and the failure of the battles in Lorraine. The Battle of the Frontiers came to an end on 12 September 1914 with a French victory, but one part of the Vosges region would remain under occupation for four long years. Several monuments to the French troops that fought there have been erected at La Chipotte, now a cemetery. They impose the memory of their regional Vosges identity on this place that witnessed so much sacrifice during the Battle of the Frontiers.

On the 25th August 1914, several soldiers of the 38th Regiment (from Saint-Etienne) settle at beginning of the Wood of La Rappe, in order to avoid the german threat on the left side of french soldiers in Baccarat. As early as the first shoots coming from the bridge in Baccarat, the german soldiers move forward. These german soldiers shoot on french soldiers, that take refuge in the Wood of La Rappe. A violent fight start, that last lot of hours. After the battle, there have been about 400 died people within the 2 camps, and as many as injured men. Several cemeteries and collective pits were setted up. On the site of the biggest cemetery, to remind the killed soldiers, this Memorial with a big white cross was erect in 1927. The dead bodies of soldiers were transfered about year 1925 to the National Cemetery of Badonviller.

In 1974 a farmer who was digging a well happened to discover the base of a colomn in an area which was later identified as being a sanctuary dedicated to the god Hercules. With its numerous statues standing close together all dedicated to Hercules, this is the most important sanctuary in honour of the god which as ever been brought from the time of ancient Gaul. Reconstructed in the museum "Les Sources d'Hercule", the Hercules site is open to the casual visitor as well as the passionate lover of history. The setting is original.

The Church of Deneuvre has been built between 1742 and 1747, instead of the castle, with a part of stones coming from the old castle. The construction of this Church was decided under the reign of Duke Stanislas, until year 1755, when the Presbytery and the neighbouring houses have been built. With its massive appearance, the turn of Church Saint-Remy is surmounted by a steeple in the shape of bud, ended with a little bell. It is a perfect example of "barn" church, that means without pillar. This Church of Deneuvre shows a group of statues and a furniture almost entirely listed as Historical Monuments. Most of the stone statues from the XVIth century come from the first church (from 1310 to 1715). A marbled master-altar, a stately painting from the XVIIIth century, and 3 chandeliers made of cristal from Baccarat's firm complete the ornament of this Church. The masterpiece of Church Saint-Remy is, in an indisputable way, the organ that date from 1704 : restored in year 1996, the organ is with 22 categories divided into 3 keyboards and a pedal "à la Française".

One of the most beautiful modern concrete Church of France and in the world, built from 1953 to 1957. The steeple of Church Saint-Remy in Baccarat reachs 55 meters high, and the wood frame of this Church is apparent. In the Church Saint-Remy, the stained-glass windows are made of cristal from Baccarat's Firm (20 000 pieces in 52 different colors), that stand for the life and the light. The organ has 40 categories and 3 660 pipes. The Church Saint-Remy of Baccarat is open every day, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except during religious services - For guided tour : please contact Tourist Office at Baccarat, or the Association Saint-Remy at phone number 0033 06 30 89 05 78 (only in French language).

In the former house of Baccarat's Factory Manager, let's come and see a renovated showroom inside the manufacture ! Designed as a collector home, this Museum is the reflection of the legendary history of Baccarat's firm, excellence symbol. The visitor can discover here a selection of main cristal pieces . For example in this exhibition : the decorated jug given to King Charles 10th, first King which has visited Baccarat's Factory in 1828, or the candelabrum with 24 candles for the Tsarina, piece of evidence about the relationship between Baccarat's firm and the Russian imperial courtyard.

In 1305, King Henry the 1st has resolved to built a turn, called as The Voués Turn (Voués means Defensers), in order to protect the houses of slaves. The access to the Turn was made by a hole pierced in the rampart. This hole is still visible, but now walled up. The vestiges of walls and castle of Baccarat, built in 1330, were accessible by a huge and vaulted passage, still used nowadays by residents and tourists. Free guided tour, outside.

In 1923 the War Memorial 1914/1918, made of pink Vosges sandstone, was inaugurated. This Monument is located on the Place du 86ème R.I., in front of City Hall. This work is by architect Deville, the bronze sculptures are by Vallin. Composed of a fine quality hemicycle, the central column is surmounted by a lantern of the dead. On the openwork central part are inscribed the names of the 350 dead of Baccarat, victims of the 1914-1918 war.
