Walk in the heart of the town. Head towards the village centre, parking and starting point behind the church. Booklet of walks available for download at www.gerardmer.net or in printed form from the reception desk.

Parking : at the village entrance, park to the right. Trail : pass in front of the church, then take a left in front of city hall, continue until the intersection. Take « rue de Spiemont » for 150m, then enter the forest and take the path to the meft. Follow the indications for « Spiemont ». At the top, take the path behind the geodesic chimney until you cross the forest path again. Continue on your right and you will find the initial panorama, then get back to the village. Weather conditions may make this route impassable.

The garden in Berchigranges is the result of a meeting between a couple, a magical location and work based on harmony and mutual understanding. The garden nestles in an old granite quarry at an altitude of 650 metres. Tonnes of earth and a great deal of patient work have produced a dozen themed gardens and a succession of very different ambiances without destroying the connections with the enchanting environment of the Vosges forests. 4,000 varieties of plants from the Northern hemisphere grow here, cheek by jowl with the local flora present in every bed. The "middle mountain" location allows for a very wide range of collections. The largest group of plants is the narcissus, closely followed by blue meconopsis and Asian primroses. This is a garden with "variable geometry", a garden with its own personality, making it a place where poetry and creativity go hand in hand.

The Church of the Nativity of Our Lady is located in the center of the village. It dates from the 19th century. Its three bells are renowned for their harmony. The largest of the bells is a listed monument (cast by A. Hamiot and J. Antoine). Inside, a set of three light wooden pieces called "Nativité de la Vierge Marie" (Nativity of the Virgin Mary) is also a listed monument.

Panorama on the blue line of the Vosges, on the valley of the Vologne, the Neuné and the Barba. Nearby, an orientation table, the work of Mrs. Landormy, a local painter, allows you to situate yourself in the superb landscape. The Spiemont Mountain had a druidic altar. In 1824, the geographers of the map of France had raised a pyramid which is now demolished. Since 1906, there is a geodesic stone signal of nine meters high at the top of the mountain. This geodesic chimney was used to shelter from the wind the plumb line necessary to make bearings and take measurements of angles necessary for the realization of the maps at the beginning of the XXth century.

Rehaupal's church is located in the center of the village. It was built in 1723. It was decorated with stained glass windows by the master glass artist Gabriel Loire.

Legend has it that a minstrel, returning from a wedding at nightfall, came across a tall, lean, richly-dressed man. After much flattery, the man offered to come and play for him in his castle at the same spot the following day, in exchange for gold coins. The musician, impressed and full of pride, went to the rendezvous at the appointed hour. He found a tall, dark palace lit by blazing flames. The man began to play, gradually realizing that he was playing for his deceased loved ones and that he couldn't stop... A spell he broke by playing a holy tune. From then on, everything disappeared, and the man woke up on the banks of the Barba stream. The legend of the Trou de l'Enfer was born...
