Discover one of the largest of all peaty areas in the Tarn! You will meet Marguerite and its friends, little Highlands Cattle cows as well as the Drossera, a small carnivorous plant. Time: 1.5 hour - Distance: 3.1 km Start sign on a little ope space beside the road in Lassouts Hamlet. The peat bog of Canroute is a wetland classified as a Natura 2000 area. Highland Cattle, little cows looking as though they had loomed up out of the prehistoric past, help to maintain the peat bog from the end of May to the end of September. This particularly sensitive area inhabits an atypical fauna and flora such as the Drossera, a small carnivorous plant. There are some precautions to be taken before starting this walk: No dogs allowed It is also advisable to have a second pair of shoes and socks (the peat bog is often muddy). You have to cross an electrified fence when the cows are in the meadow. Don’t miss the 360° view on the Puech Cornet at the top of the picnic area. Not practicable on mountain bike

Let’s walk around the woods… An easy walk for families. This path goes through the Green Way(la VoieVerte)first for about 2kms . When you leave it , you take a small forest track-the forest is very thick- this track is a link between 3 hamlets in the South of Labastide- Rouairoux : Lafeuillade ,Cantignous et Fon de Santé. The tracks are inhabited by wild animals , particularly roe deers-you may see them , if you are lucky -, an important number of different species of birds who want to live in the quietness of the woods. On the way , you will see chimneys and roofs of ancient factories . In the 19th century ,Labastide-Rouairoux had an important industrial development with the building of many textile mills , weaving and dyeing factories .The industrial activity of the village influences the landscape of the valley still now . This industrial heritage remains an important indication of the industrialization of the valley .

A one hour walk along the Agout river and uphill, with a magnificent sight at your arrival. Out and back trail. Time 1h – Distance 3km (back and forth by the same path) A perfect opportunity to walk along the river and at times in the middle of it thanks to the many rocks at your disposal. Duration 3h- Distance 12,4 km This route, reserved for all non-motorised modes of transport, partly follows the old railway line that linked Brassac to Castres, known locally as the "petit train de Brassac". The trail begins at the site of the former Brassac railway station, which no longer exists. After crossing the Ruisseau du Terrail on a railway bridge that is still in existence, the path leads down the Agout valley to Bouissas via Saint Agnan. In the Middle Ages, it separated the castles of the lordships of Castelnau (right bank) and Belfortès (left bank). This river carried away the bodies of the belligerents during the struggles between Protestants and Catholics in the 16th century. It operated the fulling mills (paradors) which pressed the woolen cloths to give them their consistent texture. In the 17th century Brassac was already producing the best quality, called cordelats. Brassac was developing thanks to the energy of its river and its men.

Do you want to become a knight of Lacaze? We suggest you play a little game to discover the village and the castle. Don't forget to ask for your equipment, which will be lent to you free of charge. To show the lord of Lacaze that you can do it, you need to prove your observational skills. To do this, pick up the map of the tour you'll be doing at the castle reception desk. Put on your equipment (shield, sword and knight's chasuble) and follow the map as you make your way around the castle through the narrow streets of the village. Remember, you'll be asked a number of questions to sharpen your observational skills, so take a good look around you and take note of the answers. These answers will give you a password. Give it to the reception desk and you'll be given your knight's diploma.

This picturesque medieval village nestling in the Gijou valley boasts a castle that once belonged to the powerful Bourbons-Malauze family. Lacaze is also very popular with nature lovers and fishing enthusiasts. This magnificent little medieval village, listed as a "Petite cité de caractère", nestles in the Gijou valley in the Monts de Lacaune. Don't miss out on a guided tour of the castle in summer, or a group visit all year round by prior arrangement. On the way to Lacaze, we also recommend a short diversions to the "forgotten" hamlet of Camalière and the fortified chapel of St Jean del Frech. There is also a waterfall at St Michel de Léon.

During the 19th century, issues related to water shortages were already a topical concern. This is how, as early as 1862, a project for the implementation of an irrigation canal from the Dourdou banks took shape. The man behind this project was Hippolyte Barascud. This controversial 9 km irrigation canal plan came into existence with the initial works beginning around 1865. The canal stretched from Montlaur to the Montet farm (south of Vabres l’Abbaye). This structure built nearby the river was to suffer from the vagaries of the stream. The floods of the Dourdou caused the silting-up of the canal and its deterioration. In the end, this canal was helpful for a little over a century. The costs and the time required to keep it operational outweighed its convenience.
