This pleasant hike mainly goes through the stateowned forest of Jouy, taking you past some majestic trees that are sometimes centuries old. If you are discreet and observant, you may see boars, stags, doe and fallow deer and plenty of squirrels.

Leprosy dates from ancient times. Returning crusaders spread it throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. Lepers were isolated in leper colonies or houses to prevent the disease from spreading. As you hike through the Brie countryside, you’ll come across three of these former sites : Mortery, Mourant and Le Guériton.

The Museum, located in the Roman a house in the higher part of Provins is home to archaeological and historical collections as well as works of art that come essentially from the town and the region. Next to a fine collection of sculptures from the medieval and Renaissance periods and sculptured architectonic elements that come from old buildings in the town, a wide variety of collections present an extensive number of local prehistoric to present day ceramics (functional or decorative pottery; medieval tiling; ridge tiling from the 17th and to 19th-centuries). Paintings, drawings and engravings showing Provins in the romantic period, coins, medals locks and keys, weapons and surprising bronze waterspouts (17th century) make up the collection.

When you get near Provins, you notice the shapes of Ceasar's Tower and of the dome of the Collégiale Saint-Quiriace. Victor Garnier, a very successful local industrial, who made his fortune in Paris, bought a property in 1848 in the lower part of the city. There he created an irregular garden in the English style. After his death the city received this property as heritage in order to open it to the public. This garden covering 8000 m2 is a privileged witness of the landscape art of the 19th century offering flower beds, tree combinations with unusual species (copper beech trees, catalpa trees, royal ginkgo…), a great variety of flowers and many garden sculptures. At the end of the 19th century, some interesting remaining of former monuments have been given to the garden completing it romantic aspect.
