The Bout du Lac nature reserve is a wetland crossed by two rivers, the Eau Morte and the Ire, which feed Lake Annecy. This marshy area to the south of the lake is an exceptional habitat. Wet forests, reed beds, wet meadows and alkaline peat bogs form a veritable ecosystem. The rich biodiversity of this natural area is home to a large number of common, rare and sensitive plant and animal species. The educational trail illustrates various aspects of the history of the nature reserve. The Beauvivier medieval tower, threatened with collapse, has been restored and transformed into an observatory. Since May 2010, the Bout du Lac nature reserve has been accessible to the disabled thanks to a 1.6 km pathway running through part of the site.

The church Saint-Jean Baptiste de Viuz located next to the archaeological museum is the result of 6 construction periods starting from the 1st to the 19th century. Well known by researchers, its Romanesque choir and archaeological crypt are what made it a famous reference. The church holds remains of a gallo-roman building in its archaeological crypt as well as 3 churches from the 6th, 9th and 11th centuries. The current building is made of a Romanesque choir (ISMH) from the 12th century adorned with green molasse capitals decorated with water flowers and baroque stalls dating back to 1696. The baptismal fonts also date back to the 17th century. The neoclassical collaterals are the product of the last major restoration works (1827/1842). The whole represents an exceptional piece of architecture, the only one of its kind in Savoie.

Travel back in time from Prehistory to the Middle Ages with objects found during excavations in Faverges and its surroundings. Then you can visit the nearby Romanesque church, architectural heritage of five periods of construction (1st - 19th century). The Viuz Faverges Archeological Museum consists of three rooms filled with artifacts found locally during tests and formal excavations. These objects, ranging from the commonplace to the extraordinary, illustrate the history of human settlement in the area. From the stone Age, axes and tools; from the bronze and iron Ages, jewelry, coins, pottery, tools as well as a huge gallo-roman cauldron. The museum is located next to the Viuz Saint Jean-Baptiste church, whose Romanesque choir dates back to the 12th Century and houses older foundations of several successive buildings dating back to gallo-roman times as well as early christianity.
