Forest track passing below the resort of Arc 1800 then above the resort of Vallandry to reach the village of Plan Peisey. Along the track, there is a magnificent view over the Tarentaise Valley, the "Versant du Soleil" and the Bellecote North Face. E-BIKE Caution ! We advice you to pay attention to others because you can cross other biker on the way up as on the way down.

Forest route, unmissable for an experienced downhiller.in les Arcs. From the top of the funicular in Arc 1600, follow the tarmac road to the Courbaton plateau. Very technical descent on a single-track path alongside the EDF high pressure pipeline, to the Malgovert power station. Return to the funicular by the tarmac secondary road alongside the marsh to the Montrigon bridge.

A new concept of orchard to discover and experience while strolling through this beautiful ensemble, located on a hill overlooking the Isère and in the heart of a region where traditional orchard meadows, combining grass and fruit, are still very present. The traverse of the Beaufortain takes you over the Cormet de Roselend and down past Roselend reservoir to Beaufort and Albertville. SNCF summer rail offers, which give unlimited train travel throughout Savoie, greatly facilitate this type of A-to-B ride. We set off from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to climb the famous Cormet de Roselend. The twenty-kilometer ascent is well worth the effort, but offers sumptuous panoramic views over the Vanoise and the start of the Mont-Blanc chain with the Aiguille des Glaciers. At the pass, take time to observe the marmots before descending to the lake of the Roselend dam, where you may come across a few Tarines, the famous cows that provide the milk for the prince of cheeses: Beaufort! Don't hesitate to stop off at one of the dairy sites offering tastings of this delicious cheese! The descent continues towards Albertville. To complete the Beaufortain crossing, take advantage of the public transport in Albertville, which allows you to return conveniently to Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Dairy sites nearby: 1. Cycle path between Bourg Saint Maurice and Aime, along side the Isère river. Distance: 20 km Negative height difference: 100 meters Difficulty: green level This mountain cycle path allows you to go from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Aime, on foot, by bike and rollerblades, in complete safety (no intersections). The slope is regular and easy. And the walk is magnificent: totally silent, wild in the forest, and along the river. A pure pleasure. 8 km from Bourg, you will find the Gothard lake with a playground for children, an adventure course and a restaurant (open only from June 15 to September 15) and a charging station for electric bikes.

Considered one of the most beautiful climbs in the Alps, this pass offers a varied profile and a succession of landscapes to reach its summit at almost 2000 m altitude. From the center of Bourg Saint Maurice, almost 20 km of climbing at 6% awaits you. From the start, you can enjoy the view over the valley, but the passage through Bonneval les Bains marks the start of the difficulties, in particular a winding section over 2 km at an average gradient of 8%. The passage to Pont Saint Antoine offers a brief respite before a long finish in the middle of the mountain pastures, with views of the surrounding peaks.

A scenic route to explore the Haute Tarentaise villages. Setting off from the Parc des Marais in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the first stretch will take you along the Isère riverbanks via a pretty woodland trail. From the hamlet of La Bonneville, the route picks up the road all the way up to the highest point - the hamlet of Le Villaret (1,400m) - after crossing the hamlet of Le Villaroger, Saint-Foy and the remarkable hamlet of La Masure. The Jean-Michel Sports team welcomes adults and children in a warm, sporty atmosphere (armchairs, WIFI, games), where you can talk about skiing and the mountains and get advice on the collections on offer. Established since 1972 on the Montchavin snow front, the resort's historic store has evolved with a robotized workshop, a team of experts (regular training), and a top-of-the-range ski locker equipped with individual heating cabinets (5 pairs of skis and 5 pairs of boots).

In the olden days, turnips used to be grown in the village of La Ravoire, and in 1850 there was such a bumper harvest that, to make a bit of money, one villager decided to go to the Bourg-Saint-Maurice market to sell his produce. A wooden footbridge over the River Isère had to be crossed, but this was so rickety that it collapsed under the weight of the heavy load. Thankfully the villager wasn't injured, but all of his cargo was lost, and the French word for turnips, raves, stuck.

Inaugurated in 1968, the resort of Les Arcs provided an exciting testing ground for many architects, the likes of Charlotte Perriand, Guy Rey-Millet, Gaston Regairaz and Bernard Taillefer. They have designed buildings in altogether innovative shapes, such as the slanting façades of the Cascade residence. The glulam structure of the Dome, designed by Pierre Faucheux, would be chosen as the logo of the Les Arcs resort. For two decades, Charlotte Perriand shared her brilliant, cutting-edge ideas with the multidisciplinary team (architects, urban planners, landscapers, carpenters and technicians among them) that created Les Arcs out of a pristine area with almost no urbanisation. Still today, this collective achievement inspires a mix of reactions, often admiration, and continues to pay undeniable witness to a time of great freedom when creative and visionary mindsets set the stage for all manner of big and bold designs. The award of the “Heritage in the 20th century” label recognises Les Arcs' unique place on the French architecture scene. Rebuilt between 1681 and 1694, the church in Hauteville-Gondon, dedicated to St Martin of Tours, is decorated with colourful 17th century altarpieces. The high altar may be the handiwork of Valsesian sculptor Joseph-Marie Martel. The last restoration phase (which lasted more than 5 years) particularly saw the original colours being restored to one of the altarpieces, the painted décor of a draped cloth crowning the Rosary altarpiece (listed as a Historical Monument) refreshed, the 19th century painted décor of all of the vaulting restored and its original décor enhanced, including the strikingly colourful motifs in raised stucco on the keystones. Located downstream of Bourg-Saint-Maurice, on the left bank of the River Isère, Hauteville-Gondon was an independent municipality until 1964. Its name perhaps comes from the Latin expression alta villa (meaning high estate), since the main town was built on a promontory particularly to protect itself if the Isère broke its banks.The name Gondon, meanwhile, comes from a village, and was added to Hauteville at some unknown stage.

The church looks out over the valley of Isère. Although the view from the forecourt is worth admiring, there is a whole other paradise awaiting you inside, especially since its complete restoration that took place from 2015 to 2018. So many wonders to (re)discover! It was built in 1691 in the traditional layout with 3 naves and 3 bays with flat apses, but its originality lies in the small hexagonal steeple above where the chancel and the nave meet. The sanctuary, which avoided being destroyed during the French Revolution, has an exceptionally rich interior decoration. Joseph-Marie Martel sculpted two of its altarpieces, which are now listed as Historic Monuments. The main altarpiece, with its resplendent polychrome, depicts virtually the entire catechesis: the sources of faith evoked by the four Evangelists: Scripture, the Trinity, the Eucharist, the Incarnation and Redemption. Behind the coloured tabernacle with its gilded monstrance, the central painting illustrates the Charity of St. Martin. He is surrounded by cherubs bearing the instruments of the Passion. On either side are two painted panels representing the Evangelists, framed by the statue columns of the four Fathers of the Latin Church. The artist applied gold leaf to a red undercoat to give an optimum Baroque emphasis to the folds in the clothing, the curves and counter-curves, the plants, the body language and the movement. Don't forget to check out the Rosary altarpiece, by the same artist. It exudes joy, as manifested by the numerous angels taking up virtually the entire surface. This heavenly court joyfully contemplates the fifteen episodes of the life of Mary, as evoked by the painted medallions, in the centre of which is a small painting of the Coronation of the Virgin.

This nature spot with a leisure centre deep in the Tarentaise region is home to many birds (including as a stopover habitat for migrating birds) and is the only known site for Natterjack Toads in this valley. Several streams and rivers, including the Isère, join here to form the lake. Known as an equalising reservoir, it contributes to the smooth running of the Malgovert hydroelectric power plant. The village's name is believed to come from the Latin term calmis, which means meadow or pasture. With its local farmland, the village of La Chal is a striking example of how mountain hamlets long used to be organised. It is built upon a very small, sloping plot of land, giving precedence to farmland where multiple crops are grown alongside grazing livestock. The houses are almost all adjoining and built one above the other up steeply rising lanes.

Built in the mid 17th century, the chapel is dedicated to St Gratus, Bishop of Aosta, who is the patron saint of harvests. It does not have an altarpiece, but boasts a central painting featuring several patron saints. The chapel is often closed, but you can still glimpse the interior through two small windows.

On the ground floor, you'll discover a room with 4 single beds, a shower room with shower, washbasin and separate toilets. On the 1st floor, with direct access to the terrace, a large bright living space comprising a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and lounge area. On the mezzanine, you'll find 4 single beds and stunning views of the mountains. The main heating for the chalet is from a wood-burning stove in the living room. Thanks to a solar panel, you can enjoy electric light in every room of the chalet. The chalet does NOT have any electrical sockets. So, when you need to recharge your electrical devices, there are two solutions: use the battery in your car, or come to the city hall and leave them with us while you do the shopping or enjoy a stroll. Bed linen: Pillows and blankets are provided and mattresses protected by a disposable fitted sheet. All you have bring is your own sheet or a sleeping bag. "Perched at 2,410 metres in altitude, the chalet-refuge de Turia showcases its Chaloin-type architecture, which is emblematic of the simple and friendly welcome of the ""small"" refuges of Vanoise built in the 1970s. These quickly assembled wooden refuges combine rusticity, sturdiness and rapid heating.
