A corner of nature just a stone's throw from the village centre, this flat out-and-back walk will be perfect for an introductory walk between forests and streams. This beautiful trail, accessible to all, will take you on a discovery of a place steeped in history, with its old chalets and magnificent chapel built in the 17th century. A beautiful hike in the heart of the Sybelles mountain pastures, on one of the highest grassy summits in Europe. At an altitude of over 2400 metres, enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the Arvan valley, the Belledonne mountain range and the Ecrins massif. After wandering through a wide variety of landscapes, from Alpine hamlets to abandoned mountain huts and vast alpine meadows, you can take a well-deserved break at the top of France's 4th largest ski area. On sunny days, you'll even have the chance to see Mont Blanc in the distance!

Immerse yourself in the world of the high mountains, high-altitude lakes, glaciers and eternal snows. Take the path that winds down into the valley. Here and there, persistent snow reminds you that you are at altitude and that the nights are cool, but the shrill cry of marmots on the alert in the scree slopes means that summer is well and truly here, with its procession of wild flowers and dazzling light. As you arrive at Lac Bramant, marvel at this high-altitude lake nestling at the foot of the mountains. The path then skirts Lac Blanc, in which the eternal snows are reflected. As for the third lake, you'll have to guess it because it's disappearing... If you have the time and inclination to continue discovering this unique environment, continue the adventure to the foot of the Saint-Sorlin glacier (allow just over an hour from the end of the second lake). From here, you'll have the chance to admire a true lord of the mountains: the largest glacier in the Grandes Rousses massif is right in front of you! On the way back, you'll have had a well-deserved gourmet break at the Etendard refuge.

From the mountain pass, take the track (closed to vehicles) off to the right. Follow the bends up to the northern pass before you descend to the refuge which is located at the foot of the dam at the Lac Bramant. Accessible to everyone, the path has no particular danger. As the main refuge of Les Grandes Rousses, it offers an access to the glacier and the summit of the Etendard, in a beautiful alpine lakes setting. This chapel is located in the Cruet hamlet, within walking distance of the Corbier resort centre. It cannot be visited, but you can still see it from the outside. 1627: Foundation and construction of the Chapelle du Cruet, which was renamed Notre-Dame de la Consolation, then Notre-Dame de la Pitié in 1771, to take on its current name of Sainte Philomène. In 1630, a plague epidemic. In 1759: 20 families lived in Cruet, i.e. 60 inhabitants. 1876: Fire. Only 2 houses were spared. 1881: Another fire. Inside the chapel, there is a 17th century tithe chest used to pay the tithe, a tax established for the benefit of the Catholic Church and officially recognised in 779, under Charlemagne. The tithe was levied on crops and livestock. All property, whether that of nobles, commoners or even the personal property of ecclesiastics, was subject to tithing. Collection of the tithe was entrusted to a farmer. As a general rule, 1/4 of the tithe went to the bishopric and the remaining 3/4 to the parish. Peasants had to "offer" a tenth of their harvest, while artisans had to "offer" a tenth of their production. The tabernacle was dug into the wall of the chapel. Outside, the font.

The chapel and its surroundings are a good example of the mountain environment. The chapel was first known as the St Roch chapel. Built in a non-decent manner in 1600, it was rebuilt in 1661. Renovated in 1787, 2 years later £67 were spent to plug holes, bleach the chapel inside and build four columns outside to prevent from disrepair. Nevertheless, 60 years later despite all the care, the chapel was falling into ruins. Therefore, a decision was taken to build a new chapel. Everyone participated in its construction depending on their own means. The chapel was achieved, though, due to financial problems less than 6 years later on September 1851. It was then inaugurated on October 20th, 1851. Nowadays, the chapel is in a very bad state and its conservation is crucial to keep this wonderful Savoy landscape alive.

Relic of the neolithic era, this place is visible from the Foncouverte plaza. At the slope located near La Chapelle des Villards, you can see a semi-circle consisting of twelve big free standing and semi-buried stones. As it is facing south, this magnificent monument is said to be used as a calendar or a sundial.

Jarrier's highest chapel, on the Chambeaux mountain pasture. The first chapel was built in 1864, but was unfortunately swept away by a violent storm in 1935. The chapel was rebuilt in 1941 thanks to the determination of parishioners who were very attached to this place of prayer. It overlooks the mountain pastures and was used as a place of prayer by the Alpagistes. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary and the Immaculate Conception, mass is celebrated every year on the second Sunday in September. Access on foot or snowshoes from Léard or La Tuvière (approx. 1 hr.), or on a cross-country track.

This bell tower soars upwards towards the Aiguilles d'Arves, guiding you towards a treasure of the Maurienne Baroque. The 17th century church of Montrond, with the famous Aiguilles d'Arves in the background, is certainly one of the most photographed sites in the Maurienne. It was restored at the end of the 1990s. Completely rebuilt in 1674, Saint Nicolas Church has a single nave with a cupola over the choir. The recently restored statues from the rood beam have been hung in the choir. Borrelin and Symond made the main altarpiece in a single piece, and Solomonic columns frame a painting by Dufour (1690) representing the Virgin, Saint Nicholas and Saint Barthelemy. The Rosary altarpiece has fifteen medallions including a 17th century painting of Mary, St Dominic and St Catherine of Siena. Also known as Chapelle Rose, it was built in 1565 in the wake of a plague epidemic, and restored in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is the oldest chapel in Jarrier. Its pink facades, its position (against the backdrop of the Aiguilles d'Arves) and its surprising location (with its back to the valley, due to the plague) make it a unique building. The interior features two large cross-vaulted bays, painted by Charles Prarioz around 1860. A Baroque altarpiece with columns frames a painting of the Virgin Mary. The chapel is dedicated to St. Roch, a pilgrim (1350-1380), and to St. Sebastian, a Roman officer martyred in 288, both reputed to be anti-plague saints. St Roch's chapel is also known as the pink chapel, because its color comes from a red clay used as a wall coating called "gria" in Maurien dialect. We can see St Roch's chapel, situated on an impressive promontory.

The Buddha Ski is a bar/restaurant located in the resort of Corbier, in the Sybelles area, at the foot of the Mont Corbier chairlift. Open every day from 9am to 5pm. Unusual bed and breakfast close to the "Aiguilles d'Arves". Snack possible. In Saint Jean d'Arves, at 2150m of altitude, it is an old family chalet used by the grand parents' owner, in summer, to leave the cows in the pastures and make hay. The chalet has been undergoing renovation since the summer of 2016 and is accessible walking from Entraigues (Saint Jean d'Arves) in about 3 hours (900 meters of elevation over 7km) or from Le Chalmieu (Albiez-Montrond) walking by the Basse du Gerbier. The chalet is equipped with spring water and has electricity by solar panels. Dry toilets and water point nearby. Inside, on the ground floor, a kitchen, a large living room, a bathroom (under construction) and the owner's bedroom. Upstairs there is the dormitory with 10 places. These are "baflants" (one big bed for evrey guest) with mattresses next to each other, fitted with bed sheets, duvet cushions and blankets Obligation to have sleeping bags. (blanket prohibited due to bed fleas). Outside, a terrace to enjoy the sunset over the Belledonne massif on one side and Les Aiguilles d'Arves on the other.

Chalet d'la Croë offers you a unique experience: sleeping in a tent at the foot of the Aiguilles d'Arves. There are 2 possibilities: - rent a pitch on your own and bring your own equipment - occupy one of the 3 fully-equipped tents (mattress and comforter) Mountain guide Virginie welcomes you to her summer garden at Chalet d'la Croë*, where you can spend cool, unusual nights camping at the foot of the Aiguilles d'Arves. There are two ways to do this: - rent a single pitch and bring your own camping equipment - rent a pitch with your own tent, mattress, comforter and blankets. Beware: at 2000 m altitude, nights are chilly. On-site chickens, goats, dogs and sometimes cows! There's a toilet block outside, as well as dry toilets and a drinking water point. Crocs are also available. To save water, showers are only available for two-day stays. The Les 7 Laux refuge sits on an island at an altitude of 2,135 m, surrounded by the Rocher Blanc and the Pic de la Belle Etoile, and the clear blue waters of 12 mountain lakes. Getting there : By Belledonne, two routes are possible among others to access the refuge: Fond de France or Le Pleynet. After Allevard les Bains, direction Fond de France or Le Pleynet. At Fond de France, the trail starts in the car park next to the gîte l’Essentiel. At Le Pleynet take the forest road at the end of the car park (the one up). The Gîte de l'Oule is a cosy little mountain refuge. Overlooked by the Puy Gris and the Col du Morétan, with a breathtaking view over the Chambéry valley, you can enjoy a blueberry tart or an omelette at any time of day. Getting there : From the car park, take in front of you a wide path (yellow and blue markings), follow it to a fork in the road and turn left. Go up the meadow of L’Oule along the stream. After 1500 m, leave the path up to the Col de Vay and turn right. It then goes over the waterfall to the left. Cross the concrete bridge to reach the ledge of the Oule (1720 m). Continue on your left, you’ll see the hut and you will reach it with a final short climb.
